Faldynová, Lada ; Khelerová, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Vojtíšek, Zdeněk (referee)
The Diploma Thesis deals with cultural aspects of multilateral international negotiations at the United Nations. The aim of the work is to describe and compare the cultural dimension of sample of cultures at the UN: Czech, Italian and Swedish culture. Thesis is divided into four chapters. First chapter is theoretical and describes the most important basis for research on cultural dimensions. Second chapter briefly presents the entire UN organization and then focuses on its headquarters in Vienna. Emphasis is placed on the third and fourth chapter. Third chapter characterizes the national cultures from the perspective of cultural dimensions of Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars. Fourth chapter is purely practical. It consists of conclusions of the in-depth interviews conducted with employees of the Permanent Missions to the United Nations. The content of interviews follows the structure of cultural dimensions of Hofstede and Trompenaars and places questions into the working environment of the Permanent Missions to the UN. These findings are at the end of the work compared with the approaches defined by the third chapter.
French business and diplomatic protocol
Pelánová, Pavla ; Müllerová, Františka (advisor) ; Čechová, Libuše (referee)
The aim of my master thesis was to specify the business and diplomatic protocol in France and answer several questions that I defined. Are there any differences between the facts that we read in books and guides about French business and diplomatic protocol, and the reality? Can we generalize French business protocol and say that it is valid for all sectors and generations of managers? Can we claim that French diplomatic protocol is valid all the time and every single president sticks to it? The first chapter explains all the key terms - protocol, business protocol, diplomatic protocol, business negotiation, etiquette. The second chapter focuses on French business protocol, especially organization and course of business negotiation, dress code and gift-giving etiquette, and finally characterizes a typical French company. The third chapter focuses on French diplomatic protocol, especially on all aspects conserning ambassadors in France. The fourth chapter represents the practical part and gives several practical examples of French business and diplomatic protocol. This part is based on four qualitative conversations with four experts on this domain.

Sinajová, Zuzana ; Müllerová, Františka (advisor) ; Hinčica, Vít (referee)
The objective of this thesis is to characterize the corporate culture of the United States, both from a theoretical and practical point of view, taking into account some specific U.S. companies. The entire thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is solely theoretical and its purpose is to familiarize the reader with the most basic terms connected with this topic (i.e. culture, national culture, corporate culture, etc.). The second chapter deals with the specific typologies and theories of national and corporate culture. The third subsequent chapter analyzes both the relationship between national and corporate culture, as well as the comparison of Czech and American culture. On top of thar, the Hofstede's and Trompenaars's dimensions are used in this chapter to help highlight the differences but also common features of both nations. The fourth chapter is devoted to the American corporate culture, focusing on its connection with corporate identity, the importance of code of ethics and the portrayal of the work environment and employment process in the United States. The final fifth chapter contains the analysis of information obtained from interviews with employees of four U.S. based companies, as well as of the FBI agency.
