Infant Movement Monitor
Zahradníčková, Ludmila ; Chmelař, Milan (referee) ; Sekora, Jiří (advisor)
Movement monitor is a detection device for monitoring the frequency of breathing of newborns and infants. It is usually indicated to children under the one year as a support to reduce the risk associated with sleep apnoea and Sudden Death Syndrome. The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis discusses the physiology of respiration, respiratory disorders, methods of monitoring and treatment. The aim of the technical part is to design own monitoring device for detecting and evaluating the frequency of breathing. It includes a block diagram and a wiring scheme of device and a flow chart of program, which is implemented by a microcontroller.
Knowledge of nurses about the prevention of sudden infant death syndrome
Šindlerová, Petra ; Tomová, Šárka (advisor) ; Nikodemová, Hana (referee)
Sudden infant death syndrome is a timeless topic that, although it has been studied in sufficient depth, still represents an unexplained and unanswered problem in medicine. The aim of the work is to bring a comprehensive summary of the issue of sudden infant death syndrome and its prevention and to examine the knowledge of nurses regarding knowledge of this issue and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in infants. Another goal was to compare the level of knowledge found among nurses in selected departments. The bachelor thesis has two parts. The theoretical part is focused on basic information about sudden infant death syndrome, current recommendations regarding prevention and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The practical part includes quantitative research of its own construction in the form of questionnaire survey focused on nurses' knowledge of sudden infant death syndrome, its prevention, and knowledge of first aid in the event of the need to start cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The research survey was carried out in neonatology departments and the results of the questionnaire survey are shown in graphic overviews, the obtained data are statistically processed, and the analysis of the survey results is presented in the discussion. In the research investigation, it was shown that the level of...
Awareness of mothers about the care of premature baby
Budková, Eliška ; Tomová, Šárka (advisor) ; Nikodemová, Hana (referee)
The bachelor's thesis "Mothers' awareness of premature newborn's care" is focused on evaluating the effectiveness of informing new mothers by medical staff. The essay consists of a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part I first describe the classification of newborns, the differences between a term and preterm newborn. Afterwards the focus is shifted to the description of individual procedures in the care for the preterm infant which includes the delivery room, the ward, physical therapy, hygienic care and nutrition. Information about sudden infant death syndrome is also included In the empirical part, an analysis of a questionnaire survey of 90 respondents from maternity wards was conducted. I was mainly interested in maternal awareness of preterm infants' care. Research shows that mothers are well informed about care. Nurses need to teach mothers more about the risk of developing SIDS.
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
DOLEJŠÍ, Andrea
This bachelor thesis is dedicated to a sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). A theoretical part of the thesis describes the history and the latest findings about SIDS, its causes and risk factors. It also summarizes midwifery education within the prevention of SIDS and cardiopulmonary resuscitation of infants. A research part of the bachelor thesis deals with the awareness of SIDS and resuscitation of newborns and infants among women. Two research goals were set in advance. The first aim of the bachelor thesis was to determine a level of SIDS knowledge of pregnant women and mothers of children up to 1 year of age. The second objective was to determine a level of knowledge of pregnant women and mothers of children up to the age of 1 on basic resuscitation of newborns and infants. At the same time, two hypotheses were established. Hypothesis 1: There are differences in SIDS awareness among primiparas and secundiparas women. Hypothesis 2: There are differences in awareness of newborn and infant resuscitation between primiparas and secondiparas. The research was conducted through a social network, using a survey of 170 pregnant women and mothers of children under the age of 1 year. In order to achieve the set goals and verify the hypotheses, a quantitative method was chosen. Anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted in order to collect data. Results of the research are graphically processed and supplemented with a verbal commentary. Verification of hypotheses was performed using a chi-squared statistical test. By analyzing the data obtained, the hypotheses were confirmed by the statistical chi-squared test. Null hypotheses were tested against alternative hypotheses at 5% significance. The chi-squared value of the test was compared with the signifikance level. For hypothesis 1, the chi-squared test was determined 0.6%, and for hypothesis 2 the result was 1%. The results show that primiparas are more informed about SIDS and problems of newborn/infant resuscitation than secondiparas. Sufficient awareness of SIDS was found within 34% of the primiparas and 30% of the secondiparas. Sufficient awareness of newborn/infant resuscitation was demonstrated by 23% of the primiparas and 12% of the secondiparas. This bachelor thesis may serve as an information material for students of health care field and midwifery, or as a presentation at a specialized seminar.
