Czech Popular Songs Reflecting Society and Events of 1918-1945 and Involvment This Work to the Music Education.

The main point of this thesis is the Czech popular music focused on song writing in the period from the establishment of the independent Czechoslovak state to the end of World War II. The first Czechoslovak Republic was an era of intense cultural and social flourishing. Following that, the thesis explores how social influences and preference, current events, and last but not least, tendencies towards patriotic expressions impacted song writing at that time. Attention is given to genres of mass-produced popular music, referred to at the time as "hits" ("šlágry" in Czech) whose contemporary role was to comment on current events and reflect on the societal atmosphere. Despite the challenging period of the Protectorate, patriotic themes persisted, and songs became an important tool of moral resistance against fascism. The icon of Czech musical life of this period is undoubtedly Karel Hašler. His work reflected national pride and determination during dramatic events. The thesis attempts to outline an analysis of Hašler's songs in the context of the contemporary development. Reflection of social experience in literary works of Ota Pavel

Bachelor thesis called Ota Pavel's Social experience reflection in his literature creation is about the personality and literature of Czech-jewish writer Ota Pavel. The goal of this thesis is to describe the picture of the social experience in a way how it was literary described by the Ota Pavel. In my thesis I observe following aspects. How it is the stance of the Jews to the major society reflected and vice versa. Further more on the example of the father of the Ota Pavel I follow up the relation of his family to the Czechoslovakia. I also describe an economy situation of the Ota Pavel and his family beginning with the first republic, following with the World War II, transitional period 1945-1948 up to the period of communism regime. Next part is about Ota Pavel's and his family experience with occupation power and anti-Semitic precaution during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. I also describe the Jew problematic in postwar Czechoslovakia in a way how the Ota Pavel reflected it based on his experience in his commemorative stories.

Influences on the 21st century English-written dystopian literature

1 ABSTRACT The aim of this thesis is to describe, analyze and explain major influences on the development of dystopian literature of the 21st century written in English. Those influences are described and illustrated on selected literary works, specifically on Oryx and Crake (2003) by Margaret Atwood, Never Let Me Go (2005) by Kazuo Ishiguro, The Hunger Games (2008) by Suzanne Collins, Matched (2010) by Ally Condie, and The Bone Season (2013) by Samantha Shannon. The theoretical part aims to explain the term dystopia, to define dystopia as a genre, and to describe its history. This part also deals with the influences on the development of dystopia, focused especially on the 20th century, and with the summaries of the books selected for the use in the practical part. The practical part focuses on the major influences on the development of dystopian literature of the 21st century written in English. Those are influences relating to methods of social control, scientific and technological advancements, and from various apocalyptic ideas and visions, such as wars and diseases. The practical part includes descriptions of the influences, their explanations, and subdivisions, following by illustrations of those influences on the selected literary works. Apocalyptic movie - background, forms and function

The bachelor thesis "Apocalyptic movie - background, forms and function" deals the apocalyptic movie phenomenon as a functional element in the occidental civilization since 1920s until now. It investigates the origins of apocalyptic thinking, i.e. expectation of the end- time, and emphasizes its religious, philosophic and practical impact in society based on Judeo- Christian tradition. It tries to adumbrate recent public apprehension, evoked by technology development, spreading of diseases, overpopulation or clash of cultures, and sums up various pessimistic visions in perspectives of human and natural sciences. Then it focuses on the beginning of apocalyptic theme in literary fiction and finally in cinematography. The work brings the original typology of apocalyptic themes, designed on the base of sample of one hundred and fifty best rated movies, and with that tries to confirm reflecting essence of apocalyptic movie, whereas compares distribution of themes and parallel social events or moods in decades. In an effort to clarify function of apocalyptic movie, the work, with help of McLuhan's media theory, uses the concept of moral panic.
