The influence of digital media on the production of Czech Radio news and opinion journalism

This master thesis called The influence of digital media on the production of Czech Radio news and opinion journalism focuses on the changes in the producing of news and journalistic content of Czech Radio caused by the origin and development of network digital media. It describes the current form and functioning of the Czech Radio newsrooms and deals with the role that public institution attach to new media. The theoretical part attempts to define new media and describe their effects on traditional mass media. It also places in the context of current public service broadcasting in the Czech Republic and describes the development of technology that preceded the current situation. The aim of the practical part of the master thesis is a qualitative analysis of the impacts of the latest changes in available technology and new habits of consumers of media content. The main source of information in the analytical part of the thesis are respondents from the ranks of Czech Radio workers. The thesis answers the question of how important role digital media play for Czech Radio and how the Department of New Media cooperates with radio journalists. Twitter as a source of journalistic work in selected online newspapers during the government crisis in May 2017

The bachelor thesis deals with an analysis of the use of information from the social networking service Twitter in the process of journalistic work. I study the employment of information from Twitter in news during the government crisis in May 2017. For the analysis, I chose three online news sites: Aktuálně.cz, iDnes.cz and iRozhlas.cz. The goal of this thesis is to find out to what extent and in which way was the information from Twitter involved in the coverage of the government crisis in the chosen news sites. Another goal is to analyse the selection of sources from Twitter. The research follows a method of quantitative content analysis, which allows us to describe an exact extent of the involvement of information from the social network in the analyzed content. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis characterizes the network digital media and describes the processes of digital mediamorphosis and convergence, which are related to the rise of the so-called new media.
