Quantification of main solution components by using fragments containing heavy nuclides of common elements
Horká, Blanka ; Čabala, Radomír (advisor) ; Bajer, Tomáš (referee)
Quantification of major components by gas chromatography with flame-ionization detector (GC-FID) is established in routine laboratory practice. The FID detector is considered as universal detector for gas chromatography (GC), but it does not provide a response for a wide range of compounds and GC-FID analysis provides only quantitative data. The coupling of gas chromatography with mass spectrometry is a powerful analytical tool that provides not only quantitative data but also qualitative data on the structure of substances. When quantified by GC-MS, the detector oversaturation is a problem as it is a highly sensitive detector (at ppb level). One way to avoid oversaturation of the detector is to significantly dilute the solutions, which causes a decrease in the sensitivity of the method. Another approach to bypass detector saturation is to interrupt detection during solvent elution. For quantification of the major components of solutions, only the first method of bypassing detector saturation can be applied, but it is a labor-intensive process that increases the measurement uncertainty. The interruption of detection during solvent elution is not applicable for the purpose of quantifying major components, so a new approach of quantifying major components of solutions using M+1 ions was proposed and...
Localization of suburban inhabitants' leisure activities: the example of Roztoky
Frydrych, Pavel ; Pospíšilová, Lucie (advisor) ; Kůsová, Tereza (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to detect the involvement of the newly immigrated inhabitants in leisure activities at their place of residence. The city of Roztoky has been chosen as an area of the research. The city is located north of the Prague and since 2000 has been experiencing increase of inhabitants and housing construction. The thesis works with theoretical concepts of everyday life geography. The questionnaire survey was used as a method to achieve the aim of the thesis. The results show, that the most of the new Roztoky's inhabitants is involved in leisure activities localized within the city. They locate their leisure activities anywhere else only in case, if they demand higher quality or the activity is not available in their city. Key words: activity space, everyday life, leisure activities, suburbanization, Roztoky
Matrix computations for mixtures and solutions

Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biophysics and Physical Chemistry Candidate: Iveta Voborníková Thesis supervisor: doc. Dipl.-Math. Erik Jurjen Duintjer Tebbens, Ph.D. Title of diploma thesis: Matrix computations for mixtures and solutions In this work, we determined drug concentrations from mixtures using multicompo- nent analysis without separating them. The condition was the knowledge of the molar absorption coefficients of individual drugs for certain wavelenghts. To do this, we used tools from matrix calculations, especially the Moore-Penrose inverse, and we were in- terested in whether we would achieve more accurate results using standard, square systems or overdetermined systems of linear equations. Based on the results, we came to the conclusion that there is no dependence between the accuracy of the results and the number of wavelengths used. Only in some cases did the results appear to be more accurate when using overdetermined systems with a higher number of wavelengths. Keywords: mixtures, solutions, linear systems, least squares problems, Moore-Penrose pseudoinverses 1

The position and methods of archaeology: the case of Roztoky
Kuna, Martin
The paper discusses the relationship between history and archeology in the reconstruction of early history. The author highlights the potential risks of subordinating archeology to history. Using the case of the Roztoky archeological site as an example, he presents a set of questions that can only be answered using archeological methods, these methods are grounded not in the humanities, but in the natural sciences.
