Analysis of the earth dam monitoring of the water structure Karolinka
Koudelková, Eva ; Novotná, Jitka (referee) ; Pařílková, Jana (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the monitoring of the Karolinka water reservoir earth dam. For the reason of seepage detected on the downstream face of the dam, the water reservoir was operated in a limited regime practically from its beginning. One of the most significant interventions aimed at reducing them was the installation of a sealing wall realized in 2013. Since 2011, the earth dam has been pilot-monitored by probes of the electrical impedance spectrometry method. The thesis deals with the processing of the data obtained by this method and with the comparison of the determined electrical conductivity of the dam soil with the data measured on the earth dam (temperature, water level in the reservoir, seepage) before and after installation of the sealing wall.

The work also includes the data obtained by measuring, processed and presented in the tabular and graphical form.
Experimental verification of flood kidney three bag functionality
Požárová, Miroslava ; Dráb, Aleš (referee) ; Žoužela, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the system of large-volume flood bags Protex - K manufactured by the company KOEXPRO OSTRAVA, joint stock company. The bags consist of polyethylene fabric filled with cement and fly ash mixture. The system enables creation of many shape modifications. One of them is the so-called triplet formed from three hose bags with the nominal diameter of 300 mm. The goal of the work was to verify functionality of this bag in one of the hydraulic troughs in the Laboratory of Water Management Research of Department of Water Structures of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology. To assess the functionality, the bag stability was tested with various water levels, and discharge coefficient and specific leakage per one standard meter of the bag was determined. The resulting discharge coefficient was compared with discharge coefficients of similarly shaped constructions. The work includes comparison of the flood bags with commonly used bags. Furthermore, the data obtained by measuring and processed in the tabular and graphical form are presented in the work.
The design of the small water reservoir
Galuška, Martin ; Hyánková, Eva (referee) ; Doležal, Petr (advisor)
The concept of this work is to assess options of a small water reservoir design on the selected area Bezměrov. Part of the work refers to different types and functions of small dams and their water management solutions. There is a geological survey presented which is describing the composition of the soil layers and investigating available materials for dam constructions. Water balance has been processed for considered dam profiles evaluating specific outflow of the catchment area, vapor and leakage through a simplified design of the dam. That creates a basic conception about possibilities of water manipulation in this area. Based on this evaluation there are several options processed to explore the retention effects of this two small water reservoirs system above Bezmerov locality.

Measurement and modelling of the seepage between river and fluvial sediments
Bašus, Jan ; Bruthans, Jiří (advisor) ; Pastuszek, František (referee)
EN This diploma thesis deals with the measurement of seepage between the river and fluvial sediments using seepage meters. Although this is not a new method, it has never been widely used to measure seepage in our country. The Morava River and its side channels (Malá Voda and Mlýnský potok) in the Litovelské Pomoraví region were chosen as the test location for this measurement. In this locality, conflict of interests between groundwater extraction and the protection of the of floodplain forests habitat has been ongoing for a long time. Data of the seepage intensity would be very helpful for the overall understanding of the groundwater flow and influence of water from rivers in this territory. The work also includes a numerical model of groundwater flow, which was used to verify the measured seepage values. Due to the overall complexity of the geological structure and groundwater flow, the model includes a wide area around the site of interest. In addition to the scope of the work, two more control measurement campaigns were carried out to verify the overall functionality of the devices. First of them took place on the Morava River near Kojetín, on the occasion of a pumping test carried out as part of the VUV TGM project. The bottom of the river is at a depth of 3.5 m below the surface, the aim of...
Topics in central banking
Brož, Václav ; Kočenda, Evžen (advisor) ; Tůma, Zdeněk (referee) ; Égert, Balázs (referee) ; Martin, Reiner (referee)
This dissertation consists of three research papers dealing with selected issues relevant for central banks after the global financial crisis. The post-crisis world has seen a significant strengthening of the role of central banks with regard to the financial system as well as the real economy. Correspondingly, agendas of some central bankers have grown substantially, encompassing among others monetary policy, financial stability (macro- and microprudential policies) as well as resolution mechanisms. This dissertation thesis reflects the broad focus of some contemporary central banks in three original research articles that concern current unexplored issues for monetary policy and financial stability in the European Union, the Czech Republic, and the United States, potentially bringing policy implications for the relevant authorities. The first article analyzes inflation convergence in the whole European Union (EU) over 1999-2017 and provides comprehensive and robust evidence that the process of inflation convergence among the countries of the EU was not permanently disrupted during the global financial crisis, the European sovereign debt crisis, or the period of zero lower bound interest rates. Specifically, the convergence process did not noticeably weaken after the crisis and the occurrence of...
Methods to characterize the intensity of recharge via riverbed due to groundwater abstraction
Bašus, Jan ; Bruthans, Jiří (advisor) ; Kůrková, Iva (referee)
EN There is an intense exchange of water between the quaternary fluvial sediments and river. Although the precise amount of seepage flow is needed for various hydrogeological models and calculations, the systematic measurements of the seepage flux in our country are lacking. This Batchelor thesis describes 4 methods that can be used to measure the intensity of water exchange between quaternary sediments and river flows. These are manual and automatic seepage meters, which isolate a small part of the river bed and measure the amount of water that is lost or gained. These two approaches differ by frequency of measuremens. Secondly, there are methods that measure the temperature distribution in the river bed with heat-sensitive electric sensors (point measurements) and light distraction in an optic fiber. The measured temperatures are used to simulate the water and heat flow in the river bad. At each of these methods, I described the method principle, the equipment used for measurement, the measurement methodology as well as examples of where were these methods already used. Discussion in the final part of the thesis contains comparison of the practical use of the mentioned methods. Key words: Seepage, Seepage meter, riverbed infiltration, water flow in riverbed.
