My bachelor work dedicates to political parties. The theory of political parties and party systems are demonstrated on the example of the Czech Republic. I am particularly interested in origin of political parties, their development, typology of political party systems and last (but) not least in role of political parties.
The Position of KDH within the Slovak Party System

The main goal of this thesis is to find out if the Christian Democratic Movement is able to become a leader of the right wing parties within the Slovak party system. This question is the result of the last election in March 2012 when the former leader Slovak Christian and Democratic Union failed. The work is divided in three chapters. The first chapter analyses consolidation of the Slovak party system and classify it according to the theoretical part about party systems and conception of cleavages. The second part testifies belonging of Christian Democratic Movement to the family of Christian Democratic parties according to the evolution, membership in multinational groups and programmatic. The third chapter analyses social- demographic and value profile of Christian Democratic Movement followers, the credibility of the movement and the voter's movements between parties.
The Development of the Party System in the Russian Federation

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the development of the party system in the Russian Federation to determine whether this development can be applied to the classical theory of political parties and party systems designed by european political scientists. In the first chapter there are described theories designed by Maurice Duverger, Jean Blondel, Stein Rokkan and Giovanni Sartori. In the second chapter there is the description of the beginning of the party system in Tsarist Russia. Its task is to draw the options and foundations of the first political party in that territory. The third chapter focuses to the reign of the CPSU, the tools of its government and the reasons for the gradual weakening of its power. The fourth chapter is divided into two parts, the first of which describes the development of the party system in Russia since the fall of the USSR, the second part deals with the comparison of theoretical concepts mentioned in the first chapter and the actual development in Russia.
Causes and consequences of electoral reform: the case study of Greece

The winners of the election have the ability to adjust the rules of the game to their advantage, although they risk the negative reaction of the voters. This thesis will focus on electoral reforms in Greece since 1974 and their impact on political and party system. Thesis will examine the development and characteristics of the Greek party system since political parties create electoral system and therefore approach to reform electoral rules. Concurrently, the work will answer why the election winners were interested in creating a one-party government through the electoral system with the absolute majority of seats in the parliament. The work will analyze individual mechanisms and functioning of electoral systems and their impact on the nature of the political system in the country.
Crisis of the representative function of political parties in Chile

Over the last year, Chile has witnessed a large number of anti-governmental protests against the cabinet of Sebastián Piňera, from which the protests of the university students reached the biggest strenght. The bachelor's thesis deals with the phenomenon of student protests in the context of contemporary Chilean party system and its political parties, which are currently undergoing a crisis of representation. The theoretical part of the thesis describes party systems and functions of political parties, especially the representative function. The first chapter of the empirical part of the thesis examines current conditions of the contemporary Chilean party system, into which the anti-governmental student protests, described in the following chapter, are set. The thesis concludes with reactions of both governmental and oposition coalitions to the student protests and to the political parties crisis. The main aim of the thesis is to answer the question why the decreasing support of the government does not lead to a rise of preferences for the oposition.
Presidentialism under conditions of multipartism. Analysis of sources of system stability in Latin American countries

According to a lot of experts presidential systems under conditions of multipartism are leading to instability, because there is peril of executive-legislative deadlocks. This thesis is focusing on three stable countries under these conditions (Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay). The main goal of this thesis is to find out the sources of system stability of these three countries. The thesis analyzes them on the basis of four criteria (number of parties, ideological distance, party system institutionalization and simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections together with electoral system). This thesis analyzes election results of these countries since their transition to democracy. The thesis demonstrated, that party system format is not crucial for stability. More important is his stability together with the same actors and unchangeable ties between them.
The evolution of the party system in Venezuela and its perspectives

The thesis analyzes the changes of the party system in Venezuela after 1945. It focuses especially on the important years 1993 and 1999, when the party system changed significantly and tries to find answers on questions: why these changes happened.
The Change of Italian Party System After "Le Mani Pulite"

Tesis is focused on Italian party system after "le mani pulite" (1992-1994). The party system has changed from multipolar system with dominance of Christian democracy, to an system where is obvious possibility of alternation between two coalitions representing lef and right. The party system continues in it's development to bipolar system, with two dominant political parties.
Elections in Chile 2009

Twenty years has passed from dissolution of authoritarian regime of Augusto Pinochet and in the presidential election 2009/2010 in Chile the right-wing candidate won. The era of continuous government of centre-leftist coalition, that administrated country from the period of transition, was ended off. The thesis focuses on the analysis of presidential and parliamentary elections, in the first place on the question what was the matter of triumph of the opposite candidate in the presidential election. In this context it should not be left out the binominalism, electoral system which brings other fundamental consequences affecting also the election return of particular candidates or political parties. In the thesis is taken down the running of the election campaign and at the conclusion the returns of both elections are compared.
