Determination of pharmaceuticals in wastewaters
Horkelová, Simona ; Sobotníková, Jana (advisor) ; Coufal, Pavel (referee)
The issue of pharmaceutical accumulation in the environment is a pressing concern today. Annually, the consumption and misuse of pharmaceuticals increase, with a significant portion ultimately being discharged into wastewater. Unfortunately, wastewater treatment processes often prove inadequate in effectively removing these substances, as they were not originally designed for this purpose. Consequently, pharmaceuticals gradually infiltrate water systems, resulting in heightened pollution of surface water, groundwater, and even drinking water sources. Due to insufficient legislation, there is a need for stricter monitoring and elimination of pharmaceutical substances containing. This master's thesis investigates the presence of pharmaceuticals and some metabolites in wastewater samples using an accredited method at ALS Czech Republic laboratory. It compares the input and output concentrations of drugs in wastewater treatment plants of varying sizes and assesses the efficacy of their removal. Additionally, it contrasts municipal sewage treatment plants serving communities with hospital wastewater treatment plants. Key words: LC-MS, pharmaceuticals, metabolites, wastewaters, environment
Recycling of wastewater from meat industry
Píža, Jan ; Horňák, David (referee) ; Vondra, Marek (advisor)
The motivation of this work is to provide the reader with an insight into the issue of wastewater recycling, with a closer focus on wastewater from the meat industry. The thesis discusses the issue of wastewater in the Czech Republic, including legislation and obligations of polluters, statistics of meat production and consumption in the Czech Republic, which gives the readers an idea of the state of wastewater. The main part of the work is devoted to wastewater recycling and purification. Conventional methods of wastewater treatment are thoroughly analyzed. Furthermore, the thesis examines conducted studies of wastewater treatment, which combine the aforementioned conventional methods, including their major advantages and disadvantages. The final section is dedicated to the conceptual draft of a recycling line for selected wastewater based on the discussed studies. The draft combines electrocoagulation, ultrafiltration, and reverse osmosis, which, according to conducted studies, appear to be a way of wastewater recycling with high potential.
EPC project for the wastewater management of a dairy plant
Holubka, Oleksandr ; Procházková, Michaela (referee) ; Horňák, David (advisor)
The dairy industry is one of the sectors producing high amounts of wastewater with significant levels of pollution. Typically, this water is discharged into the sewage system after preliminary treatment. However, it is now possible to recycle a large portion of this wastewater, and, as a result, reduce the operating costs. This work focuses on designing an appropriate water recycling technology to reduce operating costs and subsequently preparing the basic documents for the implementation of an EPC project for the selected design. Based on conducted research, reverse osmosis was chosen as a suitable process for wastewater treatment. Operational and investment costs were calculated for membrane technologies using reverse osmosis, based on which the profitability of the proposed design was determined. Furthermore, a process flow diagram and a piping & instrumentation diagram were created, risk management was conducted, and a project timeline was developed. Future work could focus on a specific industrial operation, allowing for the acquisition of real data and more precise economic evaluation.
Handling and disposal of septic water
Petrušková, Kateřina ; Macsek, Tomáš (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (advisor)
The Bachelor’s thesis is focused on septic water, it’s handling and disposal. The thesis consists of research on the characteristics of wastewater and objects for septic water accumulation. The practical part deals with the analysis of collected septic water samples and the values of wastewater pollution indicators. In addition, options for the design of septic water treatment technologies are presented.
The water flow simulation in the cesspit
Šrámková, Dagmar ; Hyánková, Eva (referee) ; Kriška-Dunajský, Michal (advisor)
This diploma thesis consists of two parts, part research and part attachments. The first section describes the literary problems of today's way of cleaning wastewater from small producers and characteristics of wastewater. The work is focused on the aspect of nature and all of these methods are directed towards this direction. The literary section is devoted to anaerobic environment, which is just one of the natural ways of treatment of waste water, in our case in a septic tank. The second part of the thesis deals with modeling of flow and behavior of sludge and water mixture in the cesspit septic tank sludge with variable densities and flow speeds. Modeling and calculations are made using COMSOL Multhiphysics. The conclusion is then summarized findings from the flow cesspit septic tank with the results and the assessment of whether a septic tank still has its place among the modern methods of wastewater treatment.
Wastewater treatment plant testbed controlled by PLC
Kopáč, Ondřej ; Blažek, Petr (referee) ; Pospíšil, Ondřej (advisor)
This master thesis deals with the design of a wastewater treatment plant, which will be controlled by a PLC. The theoretical part describes the types of wastewater and sewage systems that are important in the design of wastewater treatment plants. The thesis also describes programmable logic controllers, theirs programming languages, SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) systems and automation. The thesis also deals with theoretical description of wastewater treatment plants, their functions and security. Next part describes the design of the wastewater treatment plant. The last part of the thesis describes implementation of the wastewater treatment plant controlled by a PLC.
Modification of laboratory waste water containing lead
Mončeková, Miroslava ; Kábelová, Božena (referee) ; Pilátová, Ivana (advisor)
The Bachelor Thesis deals with the treatment of laboratory waste water containing lead. The thesis examines the lead and its compounds in waste water from an inorganic laboratory and tries to find a suitable way of stating the lead concentration and its follow-up reduction. The advantages and disadvantages of various substances used in precipitation of lead in waste water are considered. In conclusion the thesis emphasizes the economic effectiveness of the treatment of liquid waste into a solid waste.
Hormones in waste waters
Petrušová, Pavlína ; Vávrová, Milada (referee) ; Čáslavský, Josef (advisor)
This bachelor thesis gives the overview of waste water contaminants of steroid hormones type. A short description of these compounds and of their physical-chemical properties is given and sources of these substances in the environment are characterized, as well as their impact on organisms The fate of these compounds and methods used for their isolation from environmental compartments methods of their final analysis are characterized.
Energy self-sufficiency of small sewage treatment plant
Leksa, František ; Pěcha, Jiří (referee) ; Ptáček, Michal (advisor)
The thesis presents basic information from the area of small wastewater treatment plants. It also deals with the theoretical description of the solar radiation issue and describes the modeling of the photovoltaic cell and the selected type of battery. On the basis of the theoretical knowledge obtained, a model of the system representing the cooperation of the wastewater treatment plant with other energy sources is proposed. The model is created in PSCAD system and its function is verified in several operating scenarios. Depending on this, the work evaluates the achievements of individual operating scenarios that demonstrate different energy requirements for the system as a whole.
Project of Treatment Wetland for Kurovice Municipality
Štěpáníková, Alexandra ; Pumprlová Němcová, Miroslava (referee) ; Kriška-Dunajský, Michal (advisor)
The work deals with the practical design of constructed treatment wetlands for Kurovice. The proposed treatment wetlands have an estimated size of 300 EO. For the design were used the most modern technologies available. The whole diploma thesis is divided into a theoretical search and practical design. At the beginning, there is a description of the target area and is followed by the proposal of individual facilities. In the conclusion of the theoretical part, the efficiency of the constructed treatment wetlands is compared with the legislation. The practical part consists of the design of constructed treatment wetlands. The design was focused on the technologies used and the spatial arrangement of individual buildings based on the atypical shape of the land. The whole proposal is made to such an extent that it can serve for subsequent use as project documentation for land management and building permits.
