Measurement of qualitative parameters in the access network

The theme of this bachelor’s thesis is „Measuring of qualitative parameters in an access network.“ The aim of this paper is a characterization of multimedia broadcasts in access networks and the creation of a functional network generator. The theoretical part of the paper is dedicated to analyzing key broadcasting parameters, which affect the resulting quality of network broadcast. Furthermore, used network protocols that are given for network and multimedia broadcast are analyzed. Simulation is done by using of GNS3 software. After that, transferred data were measured. Side effects affecting the functionality of the resulting transmission were subsequently analyzed. Another part of the paper is the practical part, which is focused on creation of a network generator by using the Bash language and making a script to facilitate turning on the generator for different counts of clients. At the end of the paper, the broadcast parameters were evaluated.

Digitization and the Internet - disruptive technologies of television broadcasting

The diploma thesis Digitization and the Internet - Disruptive Technologies of Television Broadcasting discusses the changes in television forms. Emphasis is placed on the transformation of the market in the form of digitization, which subsequently also led to the intensive distribution of data within the Internet environment. The introductory part of the thesis is arched with theoretical support from the sides of economic and media approaches to the process of change. Their central motif deals with innovation or remediation. A closer description of the technologies themselves and their properties is not omitted either. Thanks to a closer description of the technologies themselves and their properties, it is possible to define the existence of imaginary boundaries of television. The second part of the work focuses specifically on the Czech landscape. It deals with the current state of legislation and the non-linear functions that the Internet has brought to television screens. At the practical level, the thesis focuses on alternative forms of television distribution in the Internet environment. Transformation of Telco business strategy driven by over-the-top services such as WhatsApp, Skype and Netflix: The case of the Czech Republic

The following thesis aims to describe the transformation of telco operators' business strategy evoked by the growing popularity and usage of Internet services like WhatsApp, Skype and Netflix, also known as over-the-top services. The thesis provides comprehensive overview of transformations in the telecom industry that have been taking place globally, explaining the drivers that led to inception of free or cheaper Internet-based services, their business models. It then narrows down to the thorough analysis of the Czech market, capturing the implications that over-the-top services have on business strategy of the major Czech telco players. The analysis is strongly supported by industry reports, statistics and quantitative research. The primary research adds in telco customers' perspectives, usage and value perception of over-the-top services, as well as their satisfaction with respective telco services and their pricing. Derived findings identify major developments and trends in the Czech telco market; they also suggest compelling observations for related businesses.
