Author: Bc. Zita Matoušová Supervisor: Mgr. Kateřina Vondrová Title: The Influence of the Use of Modern Technologies on the Dexterity of the Hands of Healty Czech Adult Population Abstract: Manual dexterity is activity, which is based on the ability to control the movement and strength of the fingers. Many aspects impact dexterity, including the use of modern technologies. These have become part of our daily lives and have changed the way we perform many activities. Therefore, I consider it important to address this context within occupational therapy. The main aim of this thesis is to determine whether there is a causal relationship between the use of modern technologies and manual dexterity in a healthy Czech adult population in the age range of 20 to 64 years. A secondary aim is to map the extent and pattern of modern technology use in the same research sample. In this pilot study 208 probands participated. Each proband completed a questionnaire. They were asked how much time they spend using a computer, mobile phone, tablet and how they use these electronics. After that, they were tested with the Nine Hole Peg Test. The analysis of the study sample was done based on the questionnaire. Pearson chi-square test was used to determine the relationship between the phenomena under study. At the set...

Title: Videomanual for the Administration of the Nine-Hole Peg Test according to the Czech Extended Version of the Manual for the Nine Hole Peg Test (NHPT) Abstract: Fine motor skills are a complex motor function for humans, thanks to which a person can participate in social and working life. This important function can be impaired by various diseases, traumatic injuries or degeneration. As part of comprehensive rehabilitation, an occupational therapist is a specialist who provides effective treatment. Occupational therapist uses standardized tests to evaluate the development of fine motor skills during treatment. These tests focus on various aspects of fine motor skills such as: muscle strength, range of motion, dexterity, manipulation and grip strength. The Nine Hole Peg Test assesses all of these aspects and is a very sensitive tool for evaluating treatment. Proper administration is essential for standardized tests, which should be performed exactly as instructed. For the Nine Hole Peg Test, an expanded Czech version of the NHPT manual was published in 2021, which contains new rules on how to proceed and evaluate situations arising during testing that did not have a uniform published solution in previous publications. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to create a videomanual for the administration of...
Mapping Problems of Occupational Therapists Using Selected Standardised Tests in the Czech Republic

Title: Mapping Problems of Occupational Therapists Using Selected Standardised Tests in the Czech Republic Abstract: Using standardized tests is needed because of Evidence-based practice. They include also Box and Block Test (BBT), Nine Hole Peg Test (NHPT) and Purdue Pegboard Test (PPT), which test gross and fine motor skills. All of these tests were made abroad and their manuals existed only in unofficial czech versions. The main aim of this thesis was to map the problems of occupational therapists using BBT, NHPT and PPT. The secondary aim was to describe the advantages and disadvantages of using voice recordings of instruction during the testing. The survey was prepared to achieve the main goal. The survey consisted of 40 questions, which were separated into several parts. The most important part contained the video recordings of specific situations coming from testing. The respondents had to answer, how they would evaluate these situations. The author of this thesis administrated these tests several times and used read instructions and voice recordings to instruct the patients Then she could describe and compare her own experiences from testing to achieve the secondary goal of this thesis. 121 people answered this survey, but 87 of them were relevant. In total13 respondents reacted to situations from...

Author: Bc. Eliška Rotbartová Supervisor: Mgr. Kateřina Rybářová Title: The Inter-rater Reliability of the Nine Hole Peg Test in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis Abstract: Introduction: The Nine Hole Peg Test (NHPT) is used by occupational therapist as a standardized tool which evaluates fine motor skills and manual dexterity. The aim of this thesis was to establish the inter-rater reliability and variability of the results of the NHPT administered according to the Czech extended version of the manual in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Methods: 33 probands with MS (27 females, 6 males) were tested by NHPT. Video recordings taken during testing were analyzed by two independent raters. Pearson correlation coefficient was used for statistical data processing. Recording sheets from the testing were analyzed in order to determine invalidated trials for each subtest and reasons for the invalidation. Results: A very high positive correlation was established for inter-rater reliability (0,999902 to 0,999965) and variability of the results (0,999902 to 0,999965). The invalidation of trials was most frequent in the 2nd trial of the dominant hand (24.24% of 33 trials). The least frequent was in the 3rd trial of the non-dominant hand (6.06%). The most frequent reasons for invalidation of trials were:...

Title: Pilot Testing of Usability of the Nine Hole Peg Test in Occupational Therapy in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and in Patients with Hand Osteoarthritis Abstract: Occupational therapists can objectively assess manual dexterity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or hand osteoarthritis (OA) using Nine Hole Peg Test (NHPT). It is performed according to a manual that includes precise instructions. The subject is required to place nine pegs from the container into the pegboard as quickly as possible and return them straight away. The time required to complete the test is measured with a stopwatch. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to perform a pilot testing of usability of a new Czech translation of the NHPT manual in patients with RA or with OA. The partial goal is to obtain video documentation during the administration of the Nine Hole Peg Test and to create recommendations for using this test in practice in patients with RA or with OA. With an approval of the Ethics Committee of the Institute of Rheumatology Prague, 19 patients (8x RA, 11x OA; 14 female, 5 male) were tested using NHPT. Analysis of the data revealed that the instructions were comprehensible for the administrator and all patients. Some ambiguity was found in the part of the instructions where the patient should only listen and...
