Regional differentiation of cause-specific mortality in selected countries of Central Europe
Domonkos, Zsolt ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse the differentiation in mortality rates at the international and regional level (NUTS 2) in selected countries of Central Europe (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Switzerland). At the country level, it examines the development of total mortality and cause- specific mortality since 1990. At the regional level, it evaluates the regional differences in total mortality and cause-specific mortality in the period 2008-2010. The thesis makes use of demographic indices (life expectancy, dispersion measure of mortality, lifespan disparity, standardised death rate) and tools of statistical analysis (Poisson regression, cluster analysis). The analysis reveals that mortality rates have decreased in Central European countries, although significant differences in the intensity of mortality can still be observed at the international as well as regional level. Vliv finanční krize na konvergenci regionů Spolkové republiky Německo
Konvalinová, Vendula
This diploma thesis deals with the impacts of financial and economic crisis on thirty-eight NUTS 2 regions of Germany. This includes identifying trends in regional convergence/divergence for the reference period 2004-2013 and determining the probable cause of observed disparities. For this purpose, cluster analysis and beta-convergence analysis are applied and conducted for the periods before and at the start of the financial crisis and during the outbreak of the economic crisis and after its overcoming. The impacts of the crisis on economic development of each region are also investigated by using important macroeconomic indicators.
Územní polarita socioekonomické diferenciace Švýcarska
CHUDÝ, Vít
This thesis deals with the topic of territorial socio-economic differentiation polarity of Switzerland. It also aims to monitor disparities, uneven regional development and examination of heterogeneity of the position of each of the territorial units. Indicators were chosen for the assessment, which are supported by secondary quantitative statistical data. You find the position of the regions of the economic, social and other points of view. The goal is to find the main determinants and causes of the different development of individual regions. After their assessment in the analytical part of the work the indicators are further used in the synthesis. Here, using statistical methods, we determined whether an individual regions are more developer or less developed.

Regional analysis of cause-specific mortality in European countries
Šebík, Jan ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Pachlová, Tereza (referee)
The goal of this bachelor thesis was to identify regional inequalities of cause-specific mortality in NUTS 2 regions (28 European Union countries, Iceland, Norway, Macedonia, Switzerland) and analyse their development from 1999 to 2010. The analysis was carried out individually for each sex because of different mortality intensity between sexes. The mortality intensity was analysed through age- standardized mortality rates and life expectancy at birth. These indicators enabled international comparison of NUTS 2 regions. More detailed analysis was created for five main groups of causes of death: diseases of the circulatory system, neoplasms, diseases of the respiratory system, diseases of the digestive system and external causes of mortality. Generally, the age-standardized cause-specific mortality decreased in Europe but in some regions it increased. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Kudláček, František ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Kraus, Jaroslav (referee)
Population development of NUTS 2 regions in countries of the Benelux Abstract The main objective of this thesis is to analyse the population development of NUTS 2 regions in countries of Benelux in the period between 1990 and 2010. The analysis is based on monitoring of development selected indicators of age structure, mortality and fertility. The development of variability of these indicators is also observed. The goal of this study is also to find groups of NUTS 2 regions similar in values of selected demographic variables. Borders of these groups of regions are compared with national and cultural borders. For this purpose, the cluster analysis was conducted for input values of the selected variables at the beginning and at the end of the analysed period. A part of this work is devoted to outline the main characteristics of population development of the Benelux countries in the period between 1950 and 2010. Keywords: Population development, NUTS 2, the Benelux, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, cluster analysis, regional differentiation

The thesis focuses mainly on at risk of poverty rate, at risk of poverty and social exclusion rate and overall comparison of development of selected factors in NUTS 2 regions. The aim is to assess the impact of changes in the structure of education, economic development, employment and unemployment on poverty in selected regions of the Czech Republic and comparison of these regions among themselves. Among the selected regions are Praha, Severovýchod, Jihovýchod and Moravskoslezsko. The main hypothesis is the assumption that regions with lower share of tertiary educated people will show a lower percentage of people at risk of poverty and social exclusion.
