Reduction of nitrogen oxides in flue gas on special catalysts
Vávra, Jan ; Krejčí, Tomáš (referee) ; Jecha, David (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on experimental reduction of nitrogen oxides on special catalysts. The latest and state-of-the-art flue gas cleaning technologies are used. Selective catalytic reduction results in the desired level of pollution. It is necessary to meet the prescribed emission limit. A ceramic honeycomb filter based on vanadium and titanium is used as the catalyst. The entire measurement is carried out on the experimental INTEQ II unit, which is installed in the flue gas cleaning laboratory at NETME Center. It is shown which operating parameters achieve better efficiency of flue gas cleaning. Comparison of the BASF and CERAM catalysts is also performed. Finally, a material balance of the system is performed and a new external electric heater is designed to accelerate the heating process.

It also focuses on the description of the most important design parameters, their estimated development, assessment and use in civil aviation. Further, this thesis deals with the legislation of various organizations that create certification standards for regulating the amount of emissions emitted.
Evaluation of air pollution in dependence on operation of centralized heating systems
Čejková, Eliška ; Matějíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Hůnová, Iva (referee)
1 ABSTRACT This bachelor work deals with some environmental aspects of disintegration of traditional centralized heating systems in the Czech Republic. This situation is shown on a particular case of centralized heating supply in a housing estate in town Kroměříž. This centralized heating system has been quickly disintegrating and it is close to its dissolution due to disconnection of customers who has been building their own local household gas boiler plants. The bachelor work calculates the consumption of natural gas for both ways of heating. It is calculated by using the amount of heat energy required for heating of all buildings, including domestic hot water and the average efficiency of these production methods. This work also calculates the amount of emissions NOx (nitrogen oxides) expressed as NO2 (nitrogen dioxid) which are producted by each type of heating. The amount of NO2 is calculated by using emission factor which is obtained from authorized measuring system. One part of this work also deals with nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere. Another important part of the bachelor work is about a basic dispersion analysis (study) - dispersion model of pollutant (nitrogen oxides) around the source/sources. One chapter compares the environmental impacts of central and local way of heating from the viewpoint...
NOx Reduction System
Karafa, Pavel ; Bradávka, Marek (referee) ; Svída, David (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the issue of nitrogen oxides emissions in exhaust gases and possibilities of their reduction. The task of the thesis was analysis of systems for NOX reduction by contemporary diesel engines, design and construction of NOX reduction device for given diesel engine, then verify functionality of this system compiled from commercially available components. In the last part of thesis available measurements will be made with an analysis of achieved results.
The role of NADPH oxidase and ros in invadopodia formation
Hanušová, Kristýna ; Vrbacký, Marek (referee) ; Brábek, Jan (advisor)
Invadopodia as specific organelles enabling tumour cells movement, spreading over the organism and ultimately formation of metastasis are possible and promising targets of tumour therapy. Recently, many interesting facts about assembly and mechanism of function of invadopodia were discovered. Invadopodia are centres of ECM degradation by extra-cellular proteases facilitating an invasion of tumour cells. For creation of invadopodia a precisely localized increased production of ROS is necessary. ROS work as crucial signalling molecules and participate in many processes resulting in invadopodia formation. ROS in tumour cells are produced by specific extra-mitochondrial NADPH oxidases (Nox). Several regulatory molecules participating in activation and localization of Nox to invadopodia have been discovered recently (Tks organizer proteins). Furthermore, a regulatory role of Src kinase in ROS production and subsequent invadopodia formation was confirmed. Key words: ECM degradation, invadopodia, invasion, proteases, Nox, ROS, Src kinase, Tks proteins
Possibilities of elimination of residual ammonia content from technological water in power plants
Hajzler, Jan ; Bartoníčková, Eva (referee) ; Opravil, Tomáš (advisor)
This master thesis aims to study the possibilities of eliminating, or separation of ammonium shares from technological water of plants, where is introduced a secondary method of flue gas denitrification (SCR, SNCR). The need for elimination of ammonium shares arose after introduction of emission cap, which have been tightened since January 2015. The denitrification technologies were installed on devices that did not comply with the new limits. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the description of combustion processes, as a fluid, and high temperature combustion of solid fuels, mechanisms of emissions and their reduction options. At the conclusion of the theoretical part is discussed the contents of the ammoniacal nitrogen in waters used in electricity and heating facilities to transport, or from which are separated by solid products of some processes such as desulphurization. There are also discussed some options for removal of ammonium salts from technological waters. Experimental part deals with finding appropriate method of determination of ammoniacal nitrogen, and the possibilities of its elimination by conversion to insoluble compound. Last but not least, the work deals with the evaluation of the sustainability of the proposed solutions. And as well as the real possibilities of their application in practice.
Treatment of flue gas polluted by NOx II
Jedlička, Filip ; Jecha, David (referee) ; Dvořák, Radek (advisor)
My master’s thesis deals with the problems of NOx abatement that are included in flue gases. The accent is put on combined flue gases treatment throug ceramic candles, where the deposited catalyst enables NOx reduction throug the method of selective catalytic reduction. The main aim of my master’s thesis has been the design of experimental equipment for current removal of gas pollutants (dioxins, VOC and NOx) and fly-ash on catalitic ceramic candle. Design of experimental equipment consisted in the calculation of basic characteristics like pipe diameter, filtration chamber diameter, heater performance etc. During the design it was necessary to build pressure drop model that was split into head loss of ceramic candle and piping system. For the evaluation of experimentally measured data and for description of ongoing catalytic reaction in various operating conditions was made prediction model of catalytical filter. The last chapter deals with planned experimental testings.
The reaction of ammonium bisulfate
Sedlák, Filip ; Bartoníčková, Eva (referee) ; Opravil, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis studies reactions of amonium hydrogen sulfate. It studies chemical and physical properties of this not very examined compound. It deals with description of chemical reactions of thist compound. This thesis studies selected chemical reactions and describes its products. Object of this thesis is to find such reaction of ammonium hydrogensulfate that leads to stable product which would not leak ammonia in alkaline environment based on real experiments. Presence of ammonium hydrogen sulfate in solid residues of coal combustion is a result of inauguration denitrification technologies. A great percentage of fly ashes is used today in buildin industry for production of concrete. Fly ash containing ammonium hydrogen sulfate is unusable for this application, that is why searching for new solution to this incurred situation is needed.
Reduction of NOx emissions using ceramic filter
Rubišar, Václav ; Niesner, Jakub (referee) ; Jedlička, Filip (advisor)
My bachelor's thesis deals with the problém of NOX reduction which is present in the flue gases. First is the description of all major types of NOX and are given their chemical properties. It is mentioned and their impact on human health and the mechanism of their formation. Furthermore, they presented all the major methods by which today achieves the reduction of nitrogen oxides from flue gases and waste gases, especially the method of selective catalytic reduction. That can be achieved in several ways - for example by using ceramic candles or fabric filters. Each of these methods is also listed with main advantages and disadvantages. Part of this work will become familiar with experimental filtration unit INTEQ II designed for selective catalytic reduction of NOX, a description of its function and a simple calculation of pressure losses in the ceramic candle.
