Thermodynamic 1-D model of the turbocharger of an internal combustion engine

Master thesis deals with 1D heat transfer simulation of turbine housing laying emphasis on temperature of exhaust gas leaving the turbine. The thesis covers construction and thermodynamics of turbochargers, exhaust gas aftertreatment and heat transfer simulation software. Then the thesis focuses on exploring turbine housing 3D model discretization, building physical turbocharger model for 1D simulation of exhaust gas output temperature and heat transfer through turbine housing. Heat transfer coefficients were calibrated for transient simulation predicting temperature of output exhaust gas in compliance with NEDC cycle. Results analysis and optimization follow, a suggestion on model integration into the virtual turbocharger system is also included.

Main aim of this Bachelor thesis is to provide you various ways how to measure consumption of petrol in automobile. There are mentioned both types, average as well as immediate consumption. The introduction is giving us the reasons why it is so important to know consumption of petrol in our automobile. It is followed by different ways how to measure the consumption of petrol. There are also noted factors which can influence the measured values.
Issues of legislative tests in the assessment of exhaust pollutants

This work deals with issues of emissions in passenger cars with a focus on legislative tests in the European Union. At first, the reader is briefly informed about the historical context and current legislative requirements for modern passenger cars in Europe and other parts of the world. The following section is devoted to the NEDC driving test, with special emphasis on describing and evaluating the methods by which manufacturers have been able to artificially reduce their car emissions. The main part of the thesis are chapters devoted to newly introduced measurement using global WLTP methodology and especially measurements in real operation RDE. An important part of these chapters is the analysis of advantages and disadvantages of new methodologies and the problems of their implementation.

Result analysis and a suggestion of subsequent actions follow.
Determination of active emissions of electric cars

This diploma thesis deals with the ecology of vehicles with combustion engines and electric motors, both in terms of operation and in terms of production of fuel or electricity. A closer focus is on active and passive emissions of cars with combustion and electric engines. Emission sources, their reduction options and measurement methods for their determination in the production of WLTP and NEDC cars are discussed. Non-exhaust emissions are discussed in detail. Furthermore, a measuring device based on the Arduino microcontroller is designed. This device is then used to measure solid particles from tires and brakes when operating vehicles with internal combustion engines and electric motors.

Cars as sources of polluting substances and greenhouse gases in the light of legislation

Submitted thesis focuses on a topic which cannot be described as classical legal topic in the Czech Republic. Nevertheless, in times of climate change and general need of shift to zero emission transportation and sustainable development of our society, this topic is very much needed. The thesis provides a general framework of type approval legislation of new vehicles of the EU and national legal system with an emphasis on test cycles such as WLTP and RDE. The thesis analyses Euro emission norms which define thresholds for polluting substances from exhaust fumes and at the same time analyses union legal regulation of CO2 emissions from new vehicles. To fully develop zero emission transportation, it is necessary to have sufficient corresponding infrastructure (e.g. charging stations). Because of this dissertation focuses on legislation concerning alternative infrastructure and selected alternative fuels. The thesis also analyses specific legal instruments (direct and indirect) which could be used as tools for the development of zero emission transportation and for improvement of air quality, especially in urban areas.
