Moral distress of psychology teachers in secondary school

The Master's thesis focuses on moral distress of psychology teachers in secondary school The entire work is divided into two main parts a theoretical one and a practical one. The theoretical part displays and explains the fundamental meaning behind definitions such as an ethics, a morality, a stress and a moral distress. Moreover, the following represents the background of the psychology teaching in the Czech Republic and brief research that shows the moral distress on the psychology of teachers. On the other hand, the practical part shows the examples within the taken surveys of 10 psychology teachers. Where 8 out of 10 teachers have described 16 situations overall, from their practical experience which has led to various morally stressful situation. The main objective of this report is to find out what kind of situations are caused by the moral distress to the high school teachers. As well as how the school professionals face and solve those already mentioned situations. The answers to those facts will be provided by the applied quantitative research. Based on the results, the research has shown that the psychology teachers and the high school professionals has faced various morally stressful situations, where the root causes were primarily such as it follows: a school board, colleagues, students, parents of students, lectures. However, from the standpoint of the given surveys has not come out that the moral distress of the teachers would be primarily caused by the psychology teaching.

The Process of Moral Decision Making in Medical Profession

Bachelor thesis is focused on the decision-making process of doctors in moral dilemma situations. The theoretical part is engaged in the principles of medical ethics, also in defining the concepts of moral dilemma and moral integrity. Furthermore, it pays attention to present findings in the field of decision-making process besides the research of the moral distress experience. The practical part describes basic characteristics of decision-making in situations, that are viewed as dilemmatic by specific doctors with obstetrics and gynecology specialization. It also presents two models of doctor's moral decision-making which are founded on the first-person and third-person point of view. Followingly, the theory of moral (dis)integrity of doctors in dilemmatic situations was formed. The designed model of grounded theory originates from in-depth interview with five doctors with obstetrics and gynecology specialization.

Conditions of work of a teacher in today's society

The dissertation is devoted to the subject of the teacher's working conditions in contemporary society. Since there are many types of conditions of a teacher's work and this issue can be examined from many points of view, I focused on the conditions that can cause morally dilemmatic situations in a teacher's work. The aim of the thesis is to open up a hitherto little discussed topic in the field of the teaching profession. The work has a theoretical-empirical character. Its theoretical part presents basic knowledge related to topics relevant to the issue under consideration (society; contemporary society; teacher and his work; teacher's profession; teacher's communication; stress in teaching work; moral dilemmas; moral distress). The aim of the research described in the methodological and practical part is to obtain detailed information about situations that represent a moral dilemma for teachers in their work. A mixed research approach was therefore undertaken to best fulfill this objective. The qualitative part contains twenty conducted semi-structured interviews with selected teachers on the topic of morally dilemmatic situations in their work. V disertační práci se věnuji etickým problémům, se kterými se setkávají zdravotníci při péči o umírající nemocné. první kapitole přibližuji problematiku péče o umírající pacienty, předkládám pohled do historie péče o umírající a zaměřuji se na klíčová kriteria při péči o umírající, kterými jsou potřeby nemocných. druhé kapitole popisuji metodologickou část kvalitativního výzkumu, kterého se zúčastnilo 15 sester ze standardních oddělení, jednotky intenzivní péče a anesteziologicko resuscitačního oddělení Nemocnice Na Bulovce. Cílem výzkumného šetření bylo, prostřednictvím rozhovorů se sestrami, vyhledat a popsat etické problémy, se kterými se setkávají sestry při péči o umírající kontextu tří různých prostředí a v konkrétních situací Ve třetí kapitole uvádím komentované výsledky rozhovorů, ze kterých vyplynulo, že se sestry zamýšlejí nad ochranou lidského života v jeho kvalitou, dystanázií, marnou léčbou, rozdílem mezi ponecháním pacienta zemřít a eutanázií, autonomií, lidskou důstojností a poskytováním paliativní péče. Jednotlivé podkapitoly se skládají z teoretického zarámování a jsou doplněny o výpovědi respondentek výzkumného šetření a rozšířeny o můj komentář. The first theoretical part clarifies key concepts and terms of ethics in education. Aside from more general terms like ethics, morals, and stress, it also covers crucial terms like moral distress and critical events. The second, practical part analyzes a qualitative dataset to describe and categorize different forms of moral distress. It records a variety of ways of solving critical situations and their potential influence on the psyche and professional development of educators.
