Interlingual Homonyms in Czech - Russian Comparative Frame

This bachelor thesis deals with interlingual Czech-Russian homonyms and their typology. The theoretical part of the thesis is concerned with paradigmatic relations, namely with antonymy, synonymy, polysemy and paronymy where an individual chapter devoted to the clarification and classification of homonyms and interlingual homonyms as such. The practical part consists of a dictionary of interlingual Czech-Russian homonyms. Each homonymic pair is given in a separate table in order to create a well-arranged system. The examples of sentences or collocations, which the given entries contain, are also presented in each table. The aim of the thesis is to create a dictionary of interlingual Czech-Russian homonyms which could be used as a tool in teaching Russian. It also presents a theoretical overview of interlingual homonymy with focus on Czech-Russian comparative perspective.
Interlingvistical Homonymity in Verbs - Comparison of Czech and Serbian

The subject of this bachelor's thesis is verbal Czech/Serbian homonymity. The thesis focuses on verbal prefixes and their ability to change verb meaning in connection to interlanguage homonymity. The first part provides readers with a theoretical background needed for understanding this topic, namely lexicology and its domains. Further, emphasis is put on homonymity (and its genesis), polysemy and word formation. My research focuses particularly on prefixes in both languages and the comparison between their individual meanings. The same method is applied to the comparing of verbs that are prefixed by given prefixes. The meanings are entered into the Czech/Serbian dictionary which contains 101 homonym pairs and three homonym triplets.

Mezijazyková homonyma z perspektivy historického vývoje

This bachelor thesis studies the topic of international homonyms, so-called false friends, in the framework of applied linguistics. This linguistic study is aimed at words that are formally alike in Czech and English, but have a different meaning. This is often caused by the same origin of the two words but different semantic development. The main importance rests in the dictionary part where the origin and usage of one hundred expressions is explained as well as in the practical study focused on Czech students of the English language and their knowledge of Czech?English interlanguage homonyms, which was explored by the method of questionnaire with at least eighty respondents. This linguistic study could be useful for the pedagogical purposes, it may help to explain the different meanings and help students to understand the development of the interlanguage homonyms instead of learning them by heart.
