“Tis beautiful in the spa towns, since one finds much pleasure there for one´s health to suit one´s tastes.” The Spa Town Topos in Czech Literature in the 19th Century
Fránek, Michal
Spa towns represented a space where the middle and higher classes could take in the relaxing effects of various healing procedures but they were also important locations for making social contacts, having fun and enjoying leisurely activities not the last of which included lovers´ trysts. Our essay attempts to examine how these aspects of spa town life appeared in Czech journalism of the time (B. Němcová, J. Neruda), in literary fiction (A. V. Šmilovský, I. Klicpera, T. Nováková, F. X. Svoboda etc.) and in the opera (L. Janáček: Fate). The work also monitors how Czech and German competition and efforts to create their own, purely Czech spa town of Luhačovice, figures in literary representations.

The use of EU funds in Luhačovice.
Špetlík, Václav ; Breňová, Lubomíra (advisor) ; Džbánková, Zuzana (referee)
This thesis builds on the topic of my bachelor thesis which dealt with the use of EU funds in Luhačovice and the analysis of specific projects that were successfully completed. This piece of work introduces us to two major subsidies that have been recently implemented in this particular city. It is based on the reconstruction of two streets named Jurkovičova alej and Dr.Veseleho, which are the two very important historical aspects of the city. In addition to the characteristics, costing models and final evaluation, a questionnaire for the local residents has also been developed and evaluated. This research tells us if in fact the residents of Luhačovice are aware of the changes going on and how they perceive them. Their opinions of the effectiveness of the use of subsidies were also recorded. In the conclusion, we can find various numerical comparisons over the years, in particular when the city began to use EU funds and an outline of the possible developments in the near future.

Diplomní projekt - Lázeňský park Luhačovice
Flekačová, Zuzana
This thesis " The Spa Park of Luhacovice" implies the conceptual design of solving alterations in the spa premises on the level of the architectural study. The Spa town of Luhačovice is undoubtedly the pearl of all Moravian spas due to its nature. Its unmistakable significance is determined mainly by the location, rich history and numerous mineral springs. The face of the spa area is well-preserved until today. One of the main objectives of the thesis is to improve the visual appearance of the area and further develop the potential of this place thereby the area becomes even more attractive and frequently visited. The theoretical part aims at the the general history of the spas, the green areas and its function, the characteristics and the historical development of the selected territory, especially the history of the spa composition development in the individual selected compositional units. The analytical part focuses on my own research in the field of which the results are processed into a large amount of digital base maps. Partial evaluations and basis for the design of the architectural study were consequently drawn from the resulting analyses which served as the base for the fundamental architectural concept. The studied area was due to its vastness divided into different compositional units which are dealt with individually. The concept is meant to resolve and/or remove all problems in the territory. The new design creates a contemporary space respecting all historical particulars and the spa characteristics, it is delicately incorporated into the recent condition and face of the spa park which will remain available for all visitors. The final design intends to compare through individual map segments made of the current condition map (as before) and the new design map (after) and therefore prove the suitability and above all the functionality of the proposed concept. There is clear evidence that the design of the spa complex is designed to fit into individual units, which do not fragment and together form one uniform area, which is in the largest scale interconnected by the promenade, alleys and flower beds along the river. The perspective views (visualization) verifying the rightness of the design are attached and they again show the recovery of the area and the introduction of the new mood in the territory.
