how to convey the theme of otherness through working with a book in primary education

1 ABSTRACT The thesis focuses on the mediation of the theme of otherness in literature lessons in primary education. In the theoretical part, the basic concepts and topics related to otherness are described. Moreover, the methods of teaching literary education and the RWCT (Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking) program are presented there, together with the characteristics of literacy development. The first research question was also posed and answered in this section of the thesis. Literary genres and types of otherness were there classified according to the research and content analysis of literature for children and youth. Finally, a list of publications was written along with a description of otherness. From these publications, five titles (Strakáč a Tioni, Kamil neumí létat: pohádka o špačkovi knihomolovi, Kiko a tajemství papírového motýla, Jak voní týden and Pravidla skutečných ninjů) were selected for the preparation of the literary education lessons used in the practical part. The present thesis focuses on the use of reading records in the Czech language and literature lessons at the first level of primary school in the implementation of reading lessons. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The main aim of the theoretical part is to define the basic concepts related to the topis, i.e. literacy, development of reading, motivation to read, reading diary, compulsory reading and reading records. The theoretical part describes specifically those reading records that are used in the practical part of the work, i.e. poster, letter to a character, graphic organizers, questions, double diary. The practical part was designed as an action research where reading lessons were designed and then taught in Year 4 of primary school, between October and December, in which a variety of reading records were used. A total of seven reading lessons were implemented, with the last, seventh, lesson serving as a reflective lesson. The output of each reading lesson was a worksheet along with the reading record. Key topics of selected reading-book texts and its interpretation using the Philosophy for Children method

The aim of the thesis is to answer the research questions "What key themes do students identify using the Philosophy for Children method in selected texts in the elementary school reader for the second grade?" and "How do students interpret selected texts through these concepts?" The theoretical section focuses on the general concept of interpretation and the connection of interpretation with the Philosophy for Children method, whose principles are subsequently explained through practical examples. The thesis also includes a characterization of the selected age group of students who were part of the research. Adolescents are described not only from the perspective of developmental psychology but especially as readers, with the area of their reading interests being examined. For example, book borrowings among adolescent readers in libraries are analyzed. The research section offers an analysis of philosophical discussions in which students attempted to find key themes in selected texts from the reader.

The diploma thesis Safety when meeting unknown people using dramatic education, in the form of folk fairy tales in the 1st year of elementary school deals the topic of the use of dramatic education in Czech language classes, specifically in literary education in the 1st year of primary school. Thematically, i tis focused on the use of fairy tales in the formo f dramatic lessons. Dramatic lessons are focused on fairy tales that also deal with the topic of meeting strangers, the positive development of students' cooperation and communication in the classroom, as well as the acquisition of some basic methods and techniques of dramatic eduacation. In the theoretical part, the concepts of dramatic education, literary education and the personality of a child of younger school age are characterized. The theoretical part also describes the goals, methods and techniques of drama education and its use in the 1st year of primary school.
