Volunteering of seniors

The thesis examines the volunteer activities of seniors. It focuses on the intensity and nature of senior volunteering. In the theoretical part, it defines related concepts such as formal and informal volunteering, old age, and outlines life course theory. The thesis examines senior volunteering in the context of life course theory. The empirical part works with secondary factor analysis of quantitative data conducted against the background of life course theory. The aim of the thesis is to offer answers to research questions concerning the intensity and nature of senior volunteering and thus provide insights into current senior volunteering in the Czech Republic.
The Search for the Boundary of Adulthood in a Life-Cycle Perspective

Tato diplomová práce se soustředí na téma přechodu z vysoké školy na trh práce, které je spojené s nabytím plné dospělosti. Nabytí plné dospělosti je dále provázeno překročením dalších tradičních milníků, jakými jsou osamostatnění se od rodiny, a to jak po finanční, tak po residenční stránce. Dále vstup do manželství a rodičovství. Důležité jsou také proměny vnitřního vnímání životní role. Práce je postavena na teorii životního cyklu, jelikož se zabývá fázemi lidského života a dále na Arnettově (2000) teorii vynořující se dospělosti, která předpokládá vznik nové životní fáze mezi adolescencí a dospělostí. Za účelem sběru výzkumných dat bylo uskutečněno 22 rozhovorů s 11 magisterskými studenty v posledním ročníku studia. Rozhovory se konaly ve dvou fázích, jedna před tím, než respondenti ukončili studium a druhá s odstupem asi 9 měsíců. Cílem bylo zjistit, jak respondenti vnímají svou životní roli, co pro ně znamená dospělost a jaké problémy provází překračování milníků tradičně spojovaných s nabytím dospělosti. Respondenti souzněli s konceptem vynořující se dospělosti a úplná dospělost pro ně znamenala zejména přijmout plnou zodpovědnost. Tradiční milníky vnímaly také jako relevantní, vstup do manželství a rodičovství nevnímali jako zásadní pro nabytí dospělosti, ale jako její finální fázi....
Young people with disabilities in foster family

The thesis presents the results of research focused on young, disabled people who grew up in foster families. The aim of the research is to observe the lives of these people from their own perspective and to map their life experience. The research is focused on problem areas of their lives and barriers that prevent them from achieving certain goals. The work is based on an analysis of interviews with five respondents, evaluated by means of Life Course Theory. Key words: young person, person with disabilities, foster family, Life Course Theory

Support for families caring for children with Asperger's syndrom

Bakalářská práce PODPORA RODIN DĚTÍ S ASPERGERVÝM SYNDROMEM Kateřina Rábová ABSTRACT This thesis aims to describe the support the state offers to families with children who have been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. Asperger syndrome is an lighter form of autism. Individuals with this diagnosis often fail to communicate with external environment and have difficulty in establishing social relationships, which can often lead to their social exclusion. It is therefore important for these individuals and their families to receive some support from the state. The thesis therefore first describes how such support should be carried out, specifically what principles should be reflected, how they should be set, and all that based on the Life Course theory. The thesis further describes recent available form of social support for this target group. The thesis step by step elaborated contributions and social services that can families of children with Asperger syndrome use and conditions of their use. In conclusion, on the basis of data obtained from the research work of the author of this thesis, is shown how the social assistance for families looks in practice and how it assess these families themselves.
