The Analysis of British Parliamentary Debate in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict between 2010 and 2015: The Comparison of Political Parties' Stances towards the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Bachelor thesis The Analysis of British Parliamentary Debate in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict between 2010 and 2015: The Comparison of Political Parties' Stances towards the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict deals with the stances of major British political parties, the Conservative Party, the Labour Party and to lesser extent also the Liberal Democrats, towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The thesis at first thoroughly examines through an analysis of parliamentary debates in 2010-2015 the stances of concerned political parties towards three important aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict - the issue of recognition of Palestinian state on bilateral level, the issue of enhanced status of Palestine in the United Nations and the issue of some form of economic sanctions against the Israel or against the Jewish settlement in the West Bank. In subsequent comparison main dissimilarities and similarities are identified in stances of concerned political parties. In the end the thesis answers the question, whether the stances of political parties in question towards Israeli- Palestinian conflict falls within the confines of traditional bipartisan consensus in the foreign policy between the Labour Party and the Conservative party or not.

Political Debate about the Issue of Free Movement of People in the United Kingdom between the Years 2010 and 2016

This Bachelor thesis is concerning with the evolution of stances of four main British political parties, namely the Conservative Party, Labour Party, Liberal Democrats, and the United Kingdom Independence Party, towards the issue of free movement of people between the years 2010 and 2016. The thesis aims to analyse on the basis of chosen documents, mainly manifestos or speeches of the parties' leaders, how and why did the stance of each political party towards the freedom of movement changed over the chosen period and how the stances differed among the parties. Mostly two documents are analysed for every chosen milestone of the time period between the years 2010 and 2016. These milestones are general elections in the years 2010 and 2015, the end of the transitional period for Bulgaria and Romania at the turn of the year 2014 and the European Parliament elections in the year 2014. For showing a possible shift in the stances of individual parties towards the issue of free movement of people are their statements characterised on a six-level scale negative to positive, whereas the sixth level means the issue was not mentioned in the statement. Great Britain and Free Trade. Analysis of British parliamentary debate in the context of TTIP negotiations

Bachelor thesis Great Britain and Free Trade, Analysis of the British parliamentary debate in the context of TTIP negotiations deals with the stances of major British political parties, the Conservative Party, the Labour Party and to lesser extent also the Liberal Democrats, towards the free trade and the TTIP protocol. The thesis first examines the relationship of individual parliamentary parties to international and therefore free trade. The next chapter describes the TTIP protocol, which was to be a free trade agreement between the European Union, of which Britain is a part, and the United States. In subsequent analysis of parliamentary debates in 2013-2016 the thesis examines stances of concerned political parties towards the free trade and the TTIP protocol. In the course of this thesis I had worked with the research question in following wording: "What are the reservations and possible limits of Great Britain in promoting free trade - in a comparison of the three main concepts of British politics that can be traced to the example of TTIP?". Analysis: Liberal Democrats electoral debacle in 2015 general election

This work is an analysis of Liberal Democrats election debacle that this party suffered in general election 2015. Analyisi itself consist of two two areas. First of them is voting system FPTP and its impact on small political parties - under representation. Based on quantitative analysis of those constituencies where Liberal Democrats were defending their seats and lost. Result of this analysis proves that voting system FPTP is one of the reasons why Liberal Democrats suffered such an election debacle. As a reset of underepresentation, Liberal Democrats lost more constituencies then they would have, if different voting system was applied. Second part of this analysis focus on Liberal Democrats manifesto and its key points - tuition fees and electoral reform. These are two typice liberal issues which were emphasize during election campaign, yet weren't included in coalition agreement. By using polls results, I analyse how these issues had an impact on Liberal Democrats when they were debated in house of commons in case of tuition fees, and during referendum on electoral reform. Polls results prove that voters turn away from Liberal Democrats when these two issues were in headlights.

The Political Debate on Immigration in the UK between 2010-2015

This thesis focuses on the political debate surrounding immigration, especially in the two prominent political parties in Great Britain - the Labour Party and the Conservative Party. Its main timeframe is between 2010 and 2015, however to fully contextualise the issue some earlier data is used. This text analyses the pre-election debate of the main political parties in the United Kingdom. It looks at immigration as a topic in their manifestos and during pre-election talks. The thesis aims to map the change in approach of the main political parties during the time when they switched positions as government and opposition.

Analysis of the 2014 European Parliamentary election in Great Britain

Bachelor thesis Analysis of European Parliament Elections 2014 focuses on topic of the theory of second-order elections which is put into context of the United Kingdom's political system. At first the theory of second-order elections is introduced for using on the examples of British politics. Thesis tries to answer the question whether the European Parliament Elections 2014 could be find as a second-order elections. Text analyzes turnout and results of single british political parties in past European Parliament Elections and compares these statistics to results of European Parliament Elections 2009 and General Elections 2010. Thesis works with three component research criteria which analyzes single hypotheses in way of theory of second- order elections. The results of every single criterion that tend to be used correctly. So thesis leads to conclusion that the European Parliament Elections 2014 could be find as a second order elections.

The 2010 increase of tuition fees at British universities

The bachelor thesis is a case study based on an analysis of the problems of higher education in Great Britain. In the first part, it deals with the genesis of the decision of British government to increase tuition fees of public universities. This took place in 2010 in the United Kingdom (apart from free Scottish schools). The second part analyzes arguments for and against the tuition fee increase. The period studied is from May to December 2010, meaning, between the general election which concluded in the creation of a surprising coalition of Liberal Democrats and Conservatives, and the tuition fees vote in the parliament. The differing views on university funding and on educational budget cuts between the two governmental parties caused disagreements in the coalition as well as within the parties. Liberal Democrats had to solve the dilemma whether to support the decision of promoting fee increase and following the recommendations of Browne's Review of Higher Education Funding and Student Finance, or to fulfill their pre-election promises, which were basically founded on the rejection of tuition fees. The proposal had some positive reactions from universities (Russell Group, UUK), raising arguments like the graduates' benefits from a degree, increase in competitiveness of British higher education...
