Namestsko – the landscape of game preserves and forests

The landscape conservation zone of Namestsko is the one and only zone of this type in Vysocina. It is located between Namest nad Oslavou and Kralice nad Oslavou. The purpose of this contribution is presentation from the point of view of landscape, urban planning and architectural and determination of important cultural and historical values, spatial and visual links. The emphasis is on two game preserves, in Namest and Jinosov, and its values. They take up a big part of the territory. The landscape conservation zone is characterized by forest-field landscape, rolling landscape and valley of stream. The game preserve of Namest is also called Kralice, it is a natural monument and is the bigger of the two game preserves. The dominant feature is the classical hunting lodge Lusthaus and fallow deer breeding is typical here.The game preserve of Jinosov is connected to Schonwald castle and Jindrich Vilem, who transformed the original pheasantry into an English park. Both of game preserves are a composed landscape. There are many forest aisles, visual axis, cultural monuments and other typical values for a game preserves. These are, for example, enclosure walls, pillar gates, orangeries, sheepfolds, gamekeeper´s house, feeding-racks. The landscape complex is completed especially by the ponds, the watering holes, Both of game preserves are dominated by mixed and broadleaved forests.with beeches and oaks.The game preserves are perceived mainly as natural areas with a historical context.Their signifikance is completed by individual signs, which are proof of the cultural and historical life of this part of the landscape.

This diploma thesis deals with the designed landscape, its development in the respective time periods, the possible renovation and protection of designed landscapes. Also the topic of avenues has been discussed marginally. The area that has been chosen for the landscape study is the cultural and agricultural landscape of the former manor Uherčice in the westernmost part of the Znojmo region. There were researches undertaken in this area and basic analyses of the primary, secondary and tertiary landscape composition were processed. Based on the results of the analyses the values and problems of the landscape could be determined. Further the principles for the renovation of the treated area were defined, including the solution proposal.

The thesis focuses on the identification of designed landscape in the defined area Ploskovice. The work is divided into four chapters that gradually describe and deal with the issue. A literature review that defines the various concepts, describes the features and legislation, summarizes the main types and explains the history of designed landscapes was obtained from professional literature. Probability of the composition was verified according to the methodology of identification of designed landscapes from the Institute of Landscape Planning. Landscape compositions were subsequently verified based on field surveys, study of historical maps and visual materials, current maps and checked information from literature and various sources. The conclusion then discussed possible pitfalls of the territory and recommended possible ways of protecting and developing compositional modifications in the model area.

The bachelor thesis deals with the updating of the proposal design of landscape heritage area Netolická obora, its problems and possibilities of its protection. We focused on the current situation and surveved the territory of the study area for significant landscape features. The proposed methodology and the created project form the basis of the application for a subsidy for the renewal of the KPZ Netolická obora.
Landscape Composition of Count Frantisek Josef Schlik and the "Landscape Creation" around the Year 1700

This thesis describes the landscape composition of Czech Count Frantisek Josef Slik (Frantz Joseph Schlik, 1656-1740) and attempts to define the influences and principles which were involved in the formation of the landscape in the manors of Kopidlno, Stare Hrady and Velis- Voksice, now in the Czech Republic, during the life of the aristocrat. Frantisek Josef Schlik ruled the manors for over 60 years and during that time he was responsible for many architectural works with considerable landscape-forming and urbanistic potential. A series of visually interlinked chapels was erected in the Velis-Voksice manor. This series included the meierhof with a little palace in Voksice. This landscape composition has been discussed especially as regards its formal design, but its connection to the Count's motivation has been less well researched, as has been the broader social and, especially, religious context in the area. Another aspect that has been put aside, or not perceived within the context of the manorial landscape, were other structures which Frantisek Josef Schlik built or which were of essential importance for the activities in the manor. Diploma thesis solves problems of avenues and rows of trees in the landscape. The mapping of avenues and rows of trees by Methodology of avenues mapping 2015 (Dušek a Klemensová, 2015) in Vyskov district was the main aim of the thesis. The database of avenues and rows of trees in district of Vyskov, which will be as separate thematic layer in the Czech National Geoportal INSPIRE, is the result of mapping. Utilization of these results as a tool of regional development was another aim of the thesis. Depending on the results, the cycle route with information boards and benches were proposed. The results were graphically processed. In conclusion, the states and perspectives of the avenues in our landscape were evaluated. 224 elements (106 avenues and 118 rows of trees) were mapped in Vyskov district. The broadleaved ornamental trees were the mostly from the tree species. The state of health was most often rated 2 (good) and 1 (excellent). Using the design of cycle routes, etc. is one of the possibilities of promoting the theme of avenues and rows of trees in our society.
Výtvarné, architektonické a krajinářské souvislosti Lednicko-Valtického areálu a jejich proměny v čase

Ph.D. thesis describes evolution of the Cultural Landcape Lednice Valtice, Czech Republic (UNESCO World Heritage Site), with special focus on artistic, architectural, garden and landscape values. These facts are compared with evolution in Europe. The main topic is designed landscape and search for its meaning. A few new facts which might lead to future important discoveries were uncovered during the research process. These new facts call for deeper subsequent research, especially in the field of archaeology and archive studies. Virtual reconstruction of the main compositional parts of Lednice Valtice cultural landscape, which are not preserved to these days, demonstrates by the means of visualisations and animation these historical footprints in the landscape. This digital imagery helps to describe evolution phases of historical gardens and landscape which is nowadays very helpful for conservational purposes.

The theoretical part of this thesis defines cultural tourism and its background in the Czech Republic, concerning external aspects influencing this branch of tourism. One of the subbbranches, garden tourism, is described more thoroughly. Furthermore its current state in the Czech republic and other European countries is discussed and compared, resulting into a series of improvement suggestions for the Czech Republic. The last part is dedicated to the established methodology and its usage for the purpose of presenting and interpreting garden art sights based on the state-of-art knowledge and trends in this research field. Methodology descibed in the theoretical part is used for the practical research of this thesis - it describes the way of interpeting and presenting specific sights of garden art. As the subject matter two different subjects were chosen - chateau garden in Mikulov and composed coutryside of Mikulov-Falkenstein. The goal was to describe different ways of presenting these kinds of objects. Graphical presentation was also created for both objects.

This bachelor thesis deals with problematics of landscape conservation areas, especially possibilities of their protection and measures leading to their improving. It represents legislative tools, methodology and possibilities of financial support of landscapes protection and revitalization. The thesis describes national legislation as well as international convention and constitution. Village Bítov and its surrounding was chosen as a studied area related to conservation landscape Vranovsko-Bítovsko. There was created proposal of adjustments for this landscape based on research of its conditions. There are also some details of design for several cases of these adjustments.

The first part of the thesis explores various possible approaches to solutions for historical spaces from the perspective of garden and landscape architecture. Furthermore, these spaces are divided to several categories that allow an architect to determine the methods employed in a work with a specific space. Principles and possibilities of changes are then exemplified using reference works realized in the Czech Republic as well as in other countries. Second part of the thesis proposes a solution for renewal of Valdštejnská lodžie in Jičín. This is a historical object with gardens, park and a game enclosure which is a part of composed landscape from the beginning of the 17th century. The proposed solution was based on a proper field research. The solution was then based on the results of the analyses. It respects the history of the object while offering a perspective of a contemporary landscape architect.
