Case study: Physiotherapy treatment of a patient with diagnosis of disc herniation and spondylolisthesis of L5-S1
Krokou, Anastasia ; Dudová, Agnieszka (advisor) ; Pavlů, Dagmar (referee)
Case study: Physiotherapy treatment of a patient with diagnosis of disc herniation and spondylolisthesis of L5-S1. Nazev: Fyzioterapie léčba pacienta s diagnózou herniace disku a spondylolistéza z L5-S1. Author: Anastasia Krokou Summary In this case study I negotiate the topic mentioned above and I quote the two main approaches. The theoretical approach with a close aspection to the functional and structural mechanism of the spinal column, combined to the biomechanical and kinesiological approach, focused more on lumbar spine, and the pathological disturbances that may arise in this region, in this case it will be about disc herniation. The other approach that completes my study work is the practical one and it concerns the application of rehabilitation and physiotherapy principles in order to treat the post-operative sequences that follow and how the treatment plan of short and long term of rehabilitation will look like. My bachelor's thesis practice took place in Ustředni Vojenská Nemocnice Praha during the period of 16.1-27.1 at the department of neurosurgery and also at the department of out coming patients. I used my knowledge that I gained these years while studying at Charles University at the department of Physiotherapy and applied for the best results according to the patients' situation....
Quantification of the axial system of humans by the TVS method
Benyovszky, Adam ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Tlapáková, Eva (referee)
Title: Quantification of the axial system of humans by the TVS method Objective: The aim of this thesis is to introduce the TVS method as an adequate method for determining the biomechanical properties of the human axial system (AS). Method: This thesis presents data analysis from a series of case studies, which were obtained during the development of the TVS method. The data for the analysis were selected by the TVS measurements two times during the pregnancy of six women. On two sections of AS (Th2-Th9 and T11-L2), we examined the ability to soften vibrations of AS with regard to the stage of pregnancy. The results are quantified and provide information about the resonant frequencies, stiffness and damping of selected parts of AS. Results: The TVS method seemed to be adequate to provide information about the change of mechanical properties in depending on the selected parameter and allows the quantification of the biomechanical properties of AS. The results showed the improvement of damping parameter in case of four respondents, whereas the deterioration in case of two respondents. Keywords: IVD, Transfer Vibration through Spine, transmitting mechanical vibrations by the axial system, damping and throughput AS
3d Segmentation Of The Spinal Canal And Intervertebral Discs In Mri Data
Koban, Martin
The concern of this work is development of the method for the spinal canal and intervertebral discs (IVD) segmentation in volume MRI data. The primary aim is to achieve the highest possible level of automation and accuracy allowing for reliable quantitative evaluation of the results. The algorithm is based on the random walk model in combination with a specific active contour method formulated through level set concept. The proposed approach is tested using a database of 3D T2-weighted MR images, which also contains referential manual segmentation of IVD.

Mergers and Acquisitions in IVD
Gašpar, Tomáš ; Dvořáček, Jiří (advisor) ; Major, Jakub (referee)
The essential goal of the thesis is to confirm or reject the hypothesis that mergers and acquisitions are an effective way how to grow the value of a company, especially in the regulated environment of the Czech healthcare. The theses focuses mainly on human IVD laboratories though the most of the content relates to the healthcare as a whole. On one hand the theses offers a view of the pure theory of M&A's, on the other hand its connection to reality. The basic processes are the definition of the IVD market, analyses of the sources of income in the healthcare in relation to the possibilities of company value growth. At the end of the thesis the hypothesis is verified by a real lab acquisition case.
