Impacts of cultural events as a specific form of tourism (Case study: music festivals in Czechia)

The main objective of the thesis is to evaluate the impact of mass-attended cultural events in the localities where they are organized. As a best practice case studies were selected music festivals in the Czech Republic. Music festivals of its significant implications far wider than the premises, which are organized and directly interfere with the normal life of communities in whose territories are located. The theoretical part focuses on describing the basic concepts work mainly through the literature. Explained in it, among other things linking tourism, culture and related sustainable capacity of the area, as well as the specifics of music festivals in the Czech Republic and at the end of the economic, socio-cultural and environmental impacts of cultural events in the wider area surrounding the area in which they are organized. The last part of the theoretical framing is a key issue for the practical part. In it are carried out with the help of surveys among visitors and residents cultural events mapped the effects of socio-cultural and environmental impacts. The economic effects were mainly focused survey conducted between business entities operating in specific affected communities. Conclusion evaluates the results achieved by the underlying surveys and compares them with pre-defined objectives.
Marketing and publicity of small music festivals in the Czech republic

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to offer analysis of the Czech music festivals background and to present some basic tools used while marketing and promoting them. Thesis shortly sumarizes the history of Czech music festivals and describes some of the trends typical for czech scene, at the beginning. Subsequently it defines basic terms used in marketing and communication ambience, that are lately more specificaly anatomized. In the end, all of the presented theoretical findings are applied on one particular example - Budějovický Majáles donation 2012. Its organizers achieved to gain 130 thousand CZK from fans in 8 days to cover the whole deficit in the budget. This bachelor thesis draws on more than 80 different Czech and foreign sources and so offers replenishment of a minimal ammount of the Czech scietific literature pointed at the Czech music festivals problematic. Contribution of the thesis is also an application of some general findings from the ambience of the marketing and advertisement on the Czech music festivals background. Author also draws an attention on the major mistakes done by the festival oranizers and presents some particular examples of an application of each of the theoretical principle. Mighty Sounds music festivalś comunication between 2009 - 2011

The bachelor thesis "Communication of the Mighty Sounds Music Festival from 2009- 2011" focuses on the analysis of marketing communications of a particular cultural institution over the long term. The first part takes a look at the role of music festivals in the field of culture marketing, and sets about to define the characteristics, which affect their communication. The second part of the thesis deals with the various communication operations of the analyzed festival. The subsequent part includes a communication audit based on the results of the research and a comparative analysis of the Mighty Sounds festival and its closest competitors. The conclusion evaluates the communication from the perspective of the author and contains several recommendations for improvement.
Kühn Children's Choir (Prague philharmonic children's choir)

The theoretical part of this MA thesis outlines the history of the Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir, its cooperation with Prague's leading stages, with outstanding Czech and international musical ensembles and conductors, as well as important concerts and appearances at prestigious festivals. It introduces the personalities who have held the position of choirmaster, and it surveys the choir's repertoire and discography. A short chapter is dedicated to the present situation of the choir and its present artistic guidance. The practical part comprises interviews with personalities who are, in various ways, linked with the Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir. A separate chapter is dedicated to a questionnaire which was given to members of the concert section of the choir and which covers the reasons and motivation for entering the choir and remaining there, the musical background in families etc.
Prague spring as a flute competition

In the thesis there are general information about the Prague Spring, the International Music Competition focusing on flute years, their compositions, members of jury, Czech and Slovak competitors and winners. The thesis also deals with information about the International Music Festival or historical and political situation in Czechoslovakia. The first capture involves an issue of the Prague Spring conception as a social and political cause, as an international music festival and international music competition. Each of these categories is particularly specified. The second - main - chapter contains detailed information about the International Music Competition focusing on flute. This part specifies all the years of flute competitions, every year is described in detail including selection and number of compositions, a number of competitors, participation of Czech flute players and famous jury members with their biography.
Management of Music Festivals.

This master thesis focuses on the management of music festivals. The theoretical part defines the term festival, sets Stakeholders and the various areas of management, which must the organizational teams of festivals take care of. Followed by two case studies. The first one compares the Czech International Music Festival Prague Spring and the English City of London Festival. The second case study applies the theoretical knowledge and the results of the comparison of the two major and professionally lead festivals into practice and explores the emerging International Festival of Film Music and Multimedia Soundtrack Poděbrady.
Contemporary Czech Popular Music In The Era Of Globalized World

This Bachelor's thesis focuses on contemporary Czech popular music production, while offering a comparative view of the international scene. The first part, introduction, explores the development of pop-music in the 20th and 21st centuries. It is followed by an analysis of the Czech bands' position in the world market aimed at their concert activities and their international audience on the Internet. A separate chapter compares the music festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad. The thesis also discusses the marketing opportunities in music industry with an emphasis on digital marketing. In conclusion, different options are dealt with in terms of support for Czech pop-music abroad; the current status is critically evaluated, and various proposals and recommendations are made to improve the situation for the future.
Music of Thousands - Mahler´s Jihlava. The History and Present of The International Music Festival

The present study primarily deals with the history, functioning and financing of The International Music Festival Music of Thousands - Mahler Jihlava. It gives an overview of the individual seasons, dramaturgy, promotion of the festival, organizers and financial support. Furthermore, the study focuses exclusively on The Project Mahler Jubilee 2010/2011, on Gustav Mahler´s personality and a part of his life spent in Jihlava. A brief summary is provided of how the town Jihlava and the region of the Highland honour the memory of this world-known composer. An individual chapter reports, in general, on the fetivals´development, the selection of the biggest world and Czech festivals, their origin and focus.
Organizing of open-air opera performances and festivals

This thesis deals with the organizing of open-air opera festivals and performances. Attention will be given to such projects taking place in the amphitheaters or in the castle courtyards. The aim of the thesis is to pay attention to the specifics that go along with the organization of open-air opera projects. After a brief summary of the historical evolution the specifics of the theatre operation follows as well as an overview of the most important open-air opera events in the Czech Republic. The core of the work lies in the analysis of two events: The particular performances arranged by the agency Croce in Jindřichův Hradec and especially the festival Loketské kulturní léto (Loket Cultural Summer) in the region of Karlovy Vary. An attention is also paid to the history of the spaces. The work concludes with the evaluation of the position of Loket Cultural Summer between other similar projects as well as its position within the region. In conclusion, there is a proposed opera dramaturgy connected to both analyzed areas. The work also includes plenty of pictures.
"Czech" Nabucco in Germany

This thesis deals with nthe emergence of the summer festival Nabucco. The first part introduces the opera by Giuseppe Verdi and opera storyline and characters. The second important part is focused on the actual implementation of the project and interviews with key personalities involved in the performance itself. The aim is to outline the work processes that lie behind the final performances of Nabucco productions.
