Henry of Carinthia. Transformation of historians's perception of his rule.

This bachelor's thesis deals with view on the figure of Henry of Carinthia, whose image was usually unflattering in the works of Czech historians. This view of Henry is based on an important source, the Zbraslav Chronicle, which, among other things, also describes the period when Henry of Carinthia governed in the Kingdom of Bohemia (1306-1310). For a long time, Zbraslav Chronicle was considered as a set of true testimonies. The author of the Zbraslav Chronicle, very influential Cistercian Petr Žitavský, acted as a direct witness to the events described, and also due to some almost diary-like entries in certain parts of the chronicle, no one doubted the relevance of his entries. In other chronicles, Czech historians adopt the perspective of the author of the Zbraslav Chronicle, as they consider it a reliable source. Thus, Henry of Carinthia entered the consciousness of the majority based on the description of Petr Žitavský, as a weak monarch without vision and the necessary skills of a successful ruler. At the beginning of the 21st century, Jakub Razim came up with a new perspective on the Zbraslav Chronicle and thereby influenced the subsequent work of other historians. Bohemia, Carinthia and Tyrol under the rule of Henry of Carinthia

BOHEMIA, CARINTHIA AND TYROL UNDER THE RULE OF HENRY OF CARINTHIA (JAKUB RAZIM) ABSTRACT The aim of this dissertation is to describe the governing practice (Herrschaftspraxis) of Henry of Carinthia in Bohemia, Carinthia and, subsequently, especially in the Tyrol, in whose southern parts the power base of the Menhart dynasty was situated. The work focuses on four key features of Henry's rule - constructing consensus between ruler and elites, exploiting feudal rights, the use of mortgages, and the use of culture to project political themes. The analysis of the various power techniques used is divided into individual chapters drawing on sources previously unpublished or insufficiently explored. The first group consists of Tyrolean chancery registers (Tiroler Kanzleiregister) and accounts books (Tiroler Rechnungsbücher, alternatively Raitbücher), the second of Austrian court poetry. Following the initial introduction of the sources, bibliography and methodology used for dealing with this particular topic, the consensual context is introduced, within which the rule of Henry of Carinthia was conducted, ranging from informal consultations to deliberations of the royal council. Sons of Smil of Lichtenburk

This diploma thesis will study life and action Smil of Lichtenburk's sons under the reign the last Przemislid kings Wenceslas II. and Wenceslas III., but especially in the context Henry of Carinthia's reign. The first part is devoted to coming the lords of Lichtenburg to the area of the Bohemian-Moravian highlands, which is connected primarily with Smil of Lichtenburg. In the following chapters it maps activities Smil of Lichtenburg's sons in the economic and political sphere of observed period. Study period was indikative defined years 1280 - 1310 with knowledge of overlaps to the period previous and next after the defined years. With regard to death Smil of Lichtenburg's youngest sons, which died in 1313, more precisely in 1329, touch this diploma thesis also John Luxembourgish's reign. There is observating destiny of mentioned descendant. Aim of this diploma thesis is try to bring a new view on the real persons of lords of Lichtenburg and primaly to their signifikance for Henry of Carinthia's reign. To the achievement this aim was using heuristic methody of gathering sources, which relate to this issues, and also relevant historical literature. Based on the study of sources and historical literature we can say, that all sons of Smil of Lichtenburg more or less affected to the Henry of Carinthia's reign....

Czech Kingdom in The Chronicle of Otakar of Styria

The subject of the Masters thesis The Czech Kingdom in The Chronicle of Otakar of Styria is the history of Czech Kingdom in the Otokar of Styrias versified cronicle. The goal of this work is a comprehensive view of that cronicle as a historic source of cetral European history during the second half of the 13th and the beginning of the 14th century. The Masters thesis includes an evaluation the relationships between the central European sources of that time. It investigates both, the knetty question of the autor's live story and his motivation for writing a work around 100 000 verses. In particular chapters, various social groups, which the author focuses on, are examined (royal houses, aristocracy, burgher class, people). No particular social group can be considered in isolation. Thier interrelations are highlighted in the thesis. Following section introduces Otakar's description of certain central European regions (Austria, Styria, Carinthia, Hungary, Polen and the Holy Roman Empire), which is the foundation of my attempt to discover the cronicler's source and information base. Minnesing and court literature at the court of last members of Přemysl's dynasty and the first membe luxembourg's dynasty

Qualifying work has interdisciplinary charakter. This work is concentrate on knowledge of history and culture of age last members of Přemysl´s dynasty and the first members of Luxembourg´s dynasty. The primary aim of work is to identify the conditions under which there is courtly literature and minnesing on the courts of these rulers. Next aim is using the comparative method to define the basic topics in prose and poetry. The secondary aim is recognizing influence of German and Latin literature domestic and foreign on literature written in Czech. The work ?Minnesing and court literature at the court of last members of Přemysl's dynasty and the first members of Luxembourg's dynasty? deals with years 1283?1306 and 1310?1333 taking into account also past years.
