Analysis of the global temperature growth
Střeštík, Jaroslav
Global air temperature increased during the last 150 years approximately by 0.8°C. This increase can be approximated by a polynomial of third order. Nearly the same is valid for the CO2 and other greenhouse gases concentration in the atmosphere. The increase of global temperature is supplemented by considerable fluctuations, where periods with a quicker increase and periods with a slow increase or stagnation can be found. Subtracting the long-term trend from the observed temperature course the sinusoidal variation appears more apparent. Spectral analysis discovers a dominant sine wave with the period of 62 years with maxima in 1878, 1940, and 2002, supplemented by a subsidiary wave with the period of 20.7 years. Combination of these waves with above mentioned polynomial a curve is obtained, which sufficiently well fits into the observed course of global temperature during the whole period 1850-2008.
Weather and tick borne viral encephalitis in the Czech and Slovak Republic
Střeštík, Jaroslav ; Mikulecký, M. ; Mikulecký Jr., M.
Cross-correlation of the annual incidence of tick borne encephalitis (TBE) in the Czech Republic (1965-2003) and Slovak Republic (1980-2004) with some external factors has been evaluated. The increase of the TBE is observed 1-3 years after the year with higher average air temperature. With the global warming the increase of the TBE is observed and they spread more to the North.
Climate change and engineering precaution in all-planetary scale
Kos, Z. ; Košková, Romana
All the fundamental analysis of climate resulted in prediction of the climate change. The main impact of greenhouse gases production of mankind will be global warming. The political negotiations against climate change organised up to now require regulation of greenhouse gases only. Actions like the Kyoto Protocol will not stop the increase of concentrations of greenhouse gases and further global warming. On the other hand, the methods of engineering the whole planet - geo-engineering - are capable to reduce the global temperature by engineering methods.
The change of the continentality of climate in connection with the global climatic change
Střeštík, Jaroslav
In connection with the long-term climatic change, manifested especially by the global warming, a question appears, whether the climate in our country, or in Europe in general, is going to be more continental or more oceanic.
Sustainability of economic growth
Follprecht, Štěpán ; Sirůček, Pavel (advisor) ; Džbánková, Zuzana (referee)
Thesis evaluates sustainability of economic growth in current conditions from three main points of view: impacts of mankind to enviroment especially in form of global warming, growth of human population and availability of energy sources. Thesis offers possible scenario of solving the situation and analyses, how had situation been solved till now and tries to find reasons why were these solutions succesfull or not, and proposes possibilities to solve the situation.
EU energy policy and its goals
Holoubek, Lukáš ; Ševčíková, Michaela (advisor) ; Ryvolová, Ivana (referee)
The aim of my BA thesis is to answer the question why the European Union is trying to have a common energy policy. I will start with the historical events which influenced the process of the economic integration of Europe. Among the milestones of this integration are the foundation of ECSC, the creation of Euratom, the oil shocks in the seventies, the publication of the White Book concerning the EU energy policy and of the Green Book of the European Committee and the Lisbon Treaty (if ratified). I will focus on the events which are leading Europe to solving the energy issue. I will also tackle the question whether by means of the common foreign policy Europe will gain energy independence of unreliable sources and safety. As a method I will use an analysis of the goals of the energy policies - why did the European Union set these goals and what will reaching these goals bring to the EU states. In the concluding part I will compare the goals of the EU energy policy with the Czech energy policy.
Climate changes - a view of conservatism and environmentalism
Červenková, Martina ; Lisa, Aleš (advisor) ; Prorok, Vladimír (referee)
The topic of this thesis is the issue of global warming in terms of political ideology - conservatism and environmentalism.. For comparison, I chose two representatives - Vaclav Klaus and Al Gore. The aim of this work is to compare ideologically conditioned responses and their political implications. This is illustrated by the example of two personalities of world politics representing both different attitudes toward the issue of global warming and climate change and different ideologies - Václav Klaus and Al Gore. The work is methodologically based on an analysis of ideology of conservatism and environmentalism and on an analysis of empirical knowledge regarding global warming.
Tha influence of iceberg melting on economic situation of Greenland
Chuchlíková, Zuzana ; Ryvolová, Ivana (advisor) ; Petrášek, František (referee)
The aim of this piece is to estimate the future progress of the economic situation of Greenland on the basis of available dates. To show whether the initiation of mining enables to separate Greenland from Denmark, which Greenland has urged for a long time to and which has not been available because of financial reasons. Thanks to comparison to progress of Norway, which depended very much on fishing before oil extraction (as well as Greenland today) we can see the importance of mining in Greenland. Besides mining, iceberg melting has a great influence on accessibility of this island (new naval routes etc.). The point of this piece is to show that climate changes and iceberg melting are not so negative and a threat for all areas of the world. It could also mean important economic assets for particular areas.
Flooding Risk and Ways to Eliminate Its Consequences
Kučera, Michal ; Ducháčková, Eva (advisor)
The first part of the paper focuses on the global warming effects on the extreme weather events frequency. The second part tries to specify the role of the critical institutions managing the flooding risk in the Czech Republic. The following chapters are all aimed at the fundamental questions of the paper: Insurability conditions, position of the individual insurance companies, necessity of the insurers - reinsurers cooperation and alternative risk transfer (ART) methods endeavouring to deepen the capacity of the traditional reinsurance markets.
