Title of the thesis: Daniel Essertier from the Czech point of view This work is dedicated to the life and work of Daniel Essertier (1888-1931), French philosopher and sociologist, who was sent to Prague in 1920 by the French Government to become a professor at the newly established French Institute, at that time a major French cultural institution in former Czechoslovakia. The aim of this work is to research thoroughly as much detail as possible so as to reconstruct the life of this gifted thinker whose life was ended by a tragic accident. Therefore upon reporting his scientific activities, the thesis will then reconstruct the untreated fraction of the history of the French Institute in Prague and the Czech-French relations. Language teaching on French Institute of Prague

This bachelor thesis aims at analytical description of French language education at the French Institute in Prague. Firstly, it describes development, function and organisation of the French Institute in Prague and its affection by important historical events during 20th century. Furthermore, the thesis thoroughly describes several French language courses, which are currently being taught at the French Institute in Prague and their development. Next part focuses on training and education of French teachers and simultaneously refers to useful pedagogical materials. Important part of this thesis is a description of educational methods at the French Institute in Prague, introduction of teacher's role and lecture's flow. In this context, an interest is given to demands of the French Institute in Prague on their lecturers and integration issue of new members to the lecturer's group at the French Institute. Lastly, the thesis covers a summary of language certificates issued by the French Institute. France's Role in Forming the Czechoslovakian Elites (1900 - 1950)

This work seeks to answer questions concerning the role France played in shaping the Czechoslovak elite in the first half of the 20th century. The study rests on three basic pillars. The first is a study of the framework in which Franco-Czechoslovak relations developed in the area of culture, cultural and educational policy. The second pillar is the question of France's direct involvement in Czechoslovakia - by means of solid structures created in connection with the establishment of the new state, and with the development of active French cultural policy after 1918. On the one hand, the French Institute in Prague, which, in the period under study, wanted to be more than a mere cultural centre, its ambitions primarily concerning scientific cooperation (language, philosophy, history, law, medicine, economics, chemistry, technical disciplines). On the other hand, the French Real Grammar School in Prague, the example of which gives a very good study of the competitive limits of cooperation between the two countries in the field of secondary education. Despite the growing number of students, this private institution (nationalised in 1937), never stopped addressing a key question: is it a Czechoslovak school teaching in French or a French educational institution operating in Czechoslovakia? Language Courses of the French Institute of Prague.

The theme of my work are language courses of French Institute in Prague from 1992 to 2011. Their methods, formulation and marketing. The first part is theoretical and is divided into three chapters. The first chapter introduces the French Institute in Prague and there is summary of its history, organization and language courses. The second chapter is devoted to each French alliances in the Czech Republic and their history, organization and description of courses. The third chapter deals with the theory of marketing communications. In the second part I compare language courses of French Institute and the French Alliances in the Czech Republic in terms of the courses, the number of teachers and students, course prices and marketing communications. Finally, I evaluate the results of comparison and provides possible improvements to individual organizations.
Activities of the Department of literature (Bureau du livre) of French Institute in Prague

The aim of this thesis is to present the French Institute in Prague and to provide as complete an overview of activities of the Book Department, for whom the actions are intended, what is their purpose and method of promotion. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part introduces the history of the French Institute since the twenties of the 20th century, when there was the greatest expansion, until today. The second part of the thesis devotes directly with the Book Department, which is introduced with a brief history. There is mentioned the library that falls under the Department and processed events which the Department participates or is organized in collaboration with the Institute. For each of the events is processed their history, mission and the period when they were held, including details about the program from 2010 to the present. In the end of thesis is a summary of the contribution of the Book Department to spread French culture in the Czech Republic.
