Thesis: Operation Allied Force in Selected Czech Daily Newspapers Author: Mgr. Lucie Božková Annotation In my thesis Operation 'Allied Force' in Selected Czech Daily Newspapers I am tracing the representation of the topic - NATO's air strikes in the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (the so called Operation 'Allied Force') in 1999 in selected Czech Daily Newspapers. I am observing the effects, media's impact, frames and agenda setting. To support the integrity of the topic I added a chapter about the Kosovo crisis which enlightens the initiation of the air attacks. Furthermore, and mainly I am focusing on professional studies dealing with military news. The dominant theme of these articles is the foreign media coverage of the Kosovo War. In the experts 'outputs I predominantly center on their choosing and the method of analysis, on which I then base my analysis on. I decided to use the method of the quantitative content analysis for my own research. The first period of exploration is the bombing period (March 24, 1999 - June 10, 1999). Here the aim of my analysis is to find out what attention have the daily newspapers MF Dnes, Hospodářské noviny, Právo and Blesk paid to the Operation 'Allied Force'. Duhan, Peter ; Anděl, Petr (advisor) ; Šindelář, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the humanitarian bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1999. The aim is to evaluate the NATO operation called Allied Force. The evaluation will consist two parts. First, the operation will be subjected to analysis in terms of Responsibility to Protect communication, which seeks to define the circumstances under which it is possible to attack a sovereign state in the name of human rights. Then the different objectives of the operation, as defined by NATO will be examined. The aim will be to determine whether the intentions of NATO were met and if not, why. In order to evaluate the Allied Force operation, it is necessery to analyze what was happening in this region throughout the history before 1999. This work briefly describes the history of Kosovo, then examines in detail the period from 80 years of the 20th century to 1999. Part of the work also deals with the ethnic wars in Balkan in the early 90s and the consequences that they had for Kosovo. The important part is to analyze how NATO positions formed from spring 1998 until June 1999, when the operation was completed.

Hrušková, Adéla ; Havlová, Radka (advisor) ; Dubský, Zbyněk (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the ethnic conflict in Kosovo from the Middle Ages to the present with the special focus on factors which have led to its outbreak and escalation, on its dynamics, ways of resolution and current situation.Factors, which have led to the outbreak and escalation of the ethnic conflict in Kosovoare of ethnic and cultural, political, social and economic nature, they complement and influence each other and the result was and still is very serious and lingering conflict between two ethnic groups which inhabit Kosovo -- Kosovo Serbs and Albanians. On the case of Kosovo we can observe many different ways of conflict resolution -- both conflict and non-conflict ones. Nevertheless, these efforts have not contributed to the final resolution of the situation and phases of latent conflict have many times varies with phases of escalation. In 2008 Kosovo declared independence on Serbia which however considers this act as illegal, as well as for example Russia. On the other hand, most of the countries of the EU and NATO recognised the independent Republic of Kosovo. The problem of Kosovo's independence and ethnic conflict in Kosovo in general influences international relations and divides international community.
