Structural changes in the brain in people with multiple sclerosis and their association with clinical status
Veselá, Adéla ; Řasová, Kamila (advisor) ; Švojgrová, Andrea (referee)
Title: Structural Brain Changes in Multiple Sclerosis Patients and Their Clinical Implications The main objective: The aim of this thesis is to determine whether lesions of the corticospinal tract can affect motor skills such as balance and walking in people with MS, as measured by the clinical tests Timed Up and Go (TUG), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and the 12-item Multiple Sclerosis Walking Scale (MSWS-12). Another aim was to determine whether a two-month facilitationn therapy would influence balance and walking assessed by TUG, BBS, and MSWS when the corticospinal tract is affected by lesions in people with MS. And whether the effect of a two-month facilitation therapy varies depending on the involvement of CST. Methods: This work is part of the study "Neuroproprioceptive "Facilitation, Inhibition" and Brain Plasticity (NEFAI)", registered under the number NCT04355663, for which paraclinical (magnetic resonance (MR) images) and clinical data (Timed Up and Go test (TUG), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and the 12-item Multiple Sclerosis Walking Scale (MSWS) questionnaire) were obtained from people with MS between 2015 and 2017. Lesions on MR images of people with MS were delineated in the 3D slicer program as part of my bachelors thesis in 2022. For the master's thesis, these images are aligned in the...

Population dynamics of cushion plant Silene acaulis in the High Tatras
Krchová, Emma ; Münzbergová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Macek, Martin (referee)
This diploma thesis is studying population dynamics of endangered species Silene acaulis in the High Tatra Mountains in Slovakia. Silene acaulis is a species of extreme alpine habitats creating cushions that provide a microclimate acting as a facilitator of establishment of other species in the alpine communities. This dome-like structure has one woody taproot making it easier to distinguish each individual. It is thus a perfect model species for determining the population dynamics drivers. The findings help in understanding future behaviour of the species and whole alpine ecosystems. Population data have been collected since 2013 or 2014 in two valleys in the High Tatras providing a database suitable to study various effects on species performance. Data collection includes marking, measuring, counting of flowers and capsules, viability and new seedlings recording, gender identification and comparison of vegetation structure within and in close proximity of a cushion. The data on vegetation were analysed using CCA ordination and the population data were analysed using Integral Projection Models. The results show that the breeding system of Slovak S. acaulis is gynodioecious and the gender affects the size of cushions, individuals with both female and hermaphrodite flowers being the biggest. The...
Řešení konfliktů v organizaci
Ferenčáková, Barbora
The thesis deals with finding out how three companies in Brno solve conflicts in their work teams and their comparison and whether they use mediation as a tool for conflict resolution. Then the thesis deals with overall satisfaction of workers with working conditions in the company. The finding itself is preceded by a theoretical overview of conflict resolution. The findings were carried out by means of conflict analysis and by means of a primary survey for which the technique of questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews were chosen. Subsequently, the results are processed and described at the end of the thesis.
Vliv dračince rumělkového (Dracaena cinnabari) jako "nurse plant" na diverzitu cévnatých rostlin
Rejžek, Martin
Dracaena cinnabari, the dominant endemic tree of Socotra Island (Yemen), is in serious decline. The effect this will have on the island's plant diversity remains unknown. This dissertation aimed to assess the possible role of Dracaena as a nurse plant by identifying plants associated with Dracaena understorey and by assessing the importance of Dracaena for maintaining plant diversity. In the first part of the dissertation, relevés sampled in Dracaena understorey and in open sites to record the number of individuals of vascular plants were analysed. Species richness and composition were compared between understorey and open sites, and species associated with each of these habitats were identified. Additionally, the effects of shading and leaf litter on species richness and abundance were analysed. The second part of dissertation focused on mature woody species composition of Dracaena stands and investigated spatial relations between Dracaenas and other mature woody plants. The last part of the dissertation aimed to assess the fine scale spatial relationships between stones and plants in Dracaena stands and evaluated the differences of these relationships between understorey and open sites. The results confirmed the Dracaena role as an important nurse plant. The tree enhances the environmental heterogeneity and its presence creates two distinct microhabitats (understorey and open sites). The understorey habitat, compared with open site, harbours higher number of species, including endemics. The species in Dracaena stands can be classified as either understorey specialists, open-site specialists or generalists. The decline of Dracaena will negatively affect plant diversity, will reduce abundance of rare endemic plants and will lead to homogenization of vegetation. As no other tree species exists which could replace the Dracaena, our findings underline the importance of conservation efforts to preserve Dracaena stands on Socotra and identify this species as a key umbrella species whose conservation would ensure also the protection of a number of other associated species.
Quality of a primary teacher from the parents and public perspective
Kolaříková, Alena ; Voda, Jan (advisor) ; Pěnička, Jaroslav (referee)
TITLE: QUALITY OF A PRIMARY TEACHER FROM THE PARENTS AND PUBLIC PERSPECTIVE Author Alena Kolaříková DAPARTEMENT Centre of school management SUPERVISOR PhDr. Jan Voda, Ph.D. ANNOTATION The role of a teacher in society and quality of education are quite often subject of a discussion these days. These discussions are linked with evaluation of quality of teachers, their way of teaching, and also with their approach to pupils and parents. The importance of teaching can be seen in two levels: firstly, the focus is on giving the knowledge, and secondly the focus is on personal development of the pupil, his/her competencies, and personal skills and respect. In this work I will describe various styles of teaching, personal prerequisites and further competencies, as necessary qualities a teacher should have. I will present five basic teaching styles with focus on their positives and risks. In analytical part, I will look up competitions rewarding good teachers and will describe criteria based on which selected teachers are rewarded. By the form of questionnaire, the practical part will try to identify what type of teacher of 1st level Primary school is preferred by the parents / legal representatives, and what type of personal and professional qualities they appreciate the most. KEYWORDS : Teachers' quality,...
Succession of insect communities inhabiting carcasses of small vertebrates, with emphasis on the beetles
Kadlec, Jakub ; Šípek, Petr (advisor) ; Růžička, Jan (referee)
This master thesis deals with succession and succession mechanisms of beetles (Coleoptera) on carrions of small vertebrates. As a model sample of small carrion a small mouse of weight 20 grams was chosen. In 2014 two experiments occurred. The first one studied the succession of a beetle community in dependence on seasonality and time of death of the sample. The second experiment was aimed to survey the blocking effect of an early insect succession on the final beetle community composition on carrions. It turned out, that during decomposition of the carrion the overall amount of beetles raised equally to the guild of necrophagous beetles. Change of the species spectrum during succession was not statistically confirmed. On the other hand, the effect of seasonality was clear as during the season the abundance and the amount of species increased. The proportion of trophic guilds changed significantly, necrophagous beetles were the most dominant part of the community towards the end of the season. Equally, the taxonomic composition of the community also changed during the season. The seasonal dynamics of carrion beetles was clear; Nicrophorus vespillo (Linnaeus, 1758) and N. investigator Zetterstedt, 1824 showed their peaks in spring and summer while N. humator (Gleditsch, 1767) and N. vespilloides...
Experience at camps
ZICHA, Miroslav
This thesis deals with the role of experiences at camps for children and youth and the possibilities of subsequent work with these experiences. The theoretical part describes and differentiates between the Czech terms prožitek, zážitek and zkušenost (experience). Special attention is given to the process of experience-based education and six basic experiential learning models are specified. Feedback and targeted feedback are also mentioned with special focus being given to facilitation, its rules and techniques. The thesis also informs about the connection between work with feedback and dramaturgy. Qualitative research finds out whether camp leaders work with the participants' experiences, clarifies the phenomena (not) leading to this fact, describes their experience with the form of processing the experiences and determines if they have some theoretical knowledge in this field.

Conflict management in social organizations (resolving conflicts and deciding)
Stejskalová, Klára ; Vrzáček, Petr (advisor) ; Holeyšovský, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis considers a topic "conflict", on which it is focused within the scope of work environment in social organizations. In a theoretical part there is predominatingly dealing with different types of conflict. Hereafter about their development and a cycle. Consequently there are mentioned possible approaches to conflict solutions and methods for their solving. In theoretical part there are also described terms related to the conflict as mobbing, manipulation, etc. The empirical part represents the real presence of conflict and mobbing in chosen social organizations functioning in Příbram. Hereafter it is focused on awareness of organizations on such situations, especially on a importance of managers during their elimination, eventually process in terms of another development. An emphasis is placed on recording of those situations both from the view of employees and on the part of manager. On the basis of findings that the development in this area of managing, in surveyed organizations, is not sufficient, the useful recommendation were suggested and a new instrument, allowing easier understanding of conflict and also more successful work with it, was created.
