Application of secondary metallurgy during steel manufacture
Škeřík, Filip ; Fila, Pavel (referee) ; Záděra, Antonín (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is a literary research on the use of secondary metallurgy in steel manufacture. It contains the basic division of SM and a brief description and use of individual processes. The main part is focused on the description of the structural parts of the electric arc furnace, ladle furnace and VD/VOD device. The second part of the thesis is devoted to an experiment, where the technical- economic costs of production of low and medium alloyed steels and high alloyed steels are compared. It includes costs on charging, electricity consumption, graphite electrode consumption and furnace and cover lining.
Device for filling tap hole of arc furnace
Juda, Lukáš ; Brhel, Jaroslav (referee) ; Malášek, Jiří (advisor)
Diploma thesis describes design and function verification of device for filling tap hole of electric arc furnace with tap hole diameter from 190 mm to 250 mm. The theses includes drive design calculation of chute swinging movement and bearing calculations. Another part of the thesis deals with verification of device functions which it is completed with process description of creating DEM simulation in program YADE. The thesis also includes basic experiments for determination angle of internal friction, angle of repose, coefficient of restitution and angle of material friction on a steel surface. Drawing documentation of selected assemblies is part of the thesis.
Production of steel for castings in an electric arc furnace
Hejčl, Pavel ; Záděra, Antonín (referee) ; Čamek, Libor (advisor)
The thesis deals with electric arc furnaces, especially electric arc furnaces of the foundry-type which are used for production of steel for castings. The theoretical part first mentions variants of electric arc furnaces according to their construction and determined place. Then, it focuses only on foundry-type furnaces for which it describes construction and main production phases. The practical part deals with the evaluation of a group of melts of low-alloy chromium molybdenum steel for castings G17CrMo9-10 from the OTO 5 electric arc furnace.
Optimalization of electric arc furnace operation
Mikulinec, René ; Raček, Jiří (referee) ; Lázničková, Ilona (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with issues of electric arc furnaces and therefore the introductory part focuses on electric arc and its distribution according to the type of power. There is also stated the distribution of arc furnaces and heavy-current arc furnace circuit. Another part of the bachelor thesis is devoted to interferences, which operate the power network and the possibilities of reducing these interferences. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to optimize the operation of electric arc furnaces and that is the reason for the stating of the calculation of optimal parameters arc furnace with a circular diagram.
Identification of risks related to industrial furnaces - electric arc furnaces
Krejčí, Lukáš ; Rozehnalová, Jana (referee) ; Kotek, Luboš (advisor)
Main goal of presented bachelors thesis is identification of hazards associated with operation of electric arc furnaces. But at first it is necessary to become acquainted with the device and to understand its function. Therefore description of construction with emphasis on electrical circuit, overview of few selected industrial disasters and legislative requirements for safe operation of the furnaces form starting position for hazard identification which is carried out according to the procedure of the standard ISO 12100 in the last chapter of this thesis.
History of ferrous alloys manufacture in the Foundry of ŽĎAS, a. s.
Nejedlý, Tomáš ; Pernica, Vítězslav (referee) ; Šenberger, Jaroslav (advisor)
The thesis describes the history of modern age of steel production in Ţďár region, and the history of metallurgical engineering company ŢĎAS. The work is divided into the theoretical part of the steel production on electric arc furnaces along with brief history from steel production in bloomery furnace to the modern steel manufacturing technology - secondary metallurgy. The second part describes the history of steel production in Ţďár region until the formation of metallurgical engineering company ŢĎAS, and consequently the company development from the construction to the present day. The thesis are focused on the development of secondary metallurgy by which the ŢĎAS company can reach the steel with high level of micro cleanness and high level of mechanical properties. Using by this technology the company can extend its product range by introducing new steel grades. Thanks to the continuous progress and efforts to achieve the best results in steel quality, the ŢĎAS company be among the largest producer of quality steel not only in the Czech Republic.
Use of active power filter to reduce flicker caused by electric arc furnace operation
Čerňan, Martin ; Bejvl, Martin ; Šimek, Petr ; Valouch, Viktor
Effectiveness of using a parallel active power filter to compensate for the flicker of an electric arc furnace,\nand mitigate the reactive power consumption and terminal\nvoltage variation in the grid is presented and evaluated in the contribution. The model of a power system with the electric arc furnace and parallel active power filter in the frequency domain has been developed. The selected results of simulation in the frequency domain using the data collected from the 60 t EAF are presented and evaluated.
