Directorials methods of Yoshi Oida in productions Death in Venice and Ideomeneo

Diploma thesis deals with the directorial methods of Japanese actor, director and professor of acting Yoshi Oida in two productions which were performed in Prague, Death in Venice in Státní opera Praha and Idomeneo in Stavovské divadlo. The first part try to cover Yoshi Oida's professional life in chronological order, namely his theatrical performances. The second part is devoted to the short historical contexts of traditional Japanese theatre and the influences in Yoshi Oida's professional life. The third part is devoted to the history and the inspirations sources of two operas, scenography of two productions in Prague and the comparison of the common and different directorial methods. The final section aim to reconstruct Yoshi Oida's directorial methods in Death in Venice and Idomeneo.
