Overview and comparison of Oracle database system administration tools
Chovítek, Jakub ; Macák, Petr (advisor) ; Buus, Martin (referee)
The aim of this work was to create an overview of applications suitable for the administration of Oracle database system and then to compare these applications. Another aim, which is directly linked to the previous, was to test these instruments in acts carried out by the database administrator. This work compares the tools from different aspects, such as graphic design, lucidity, functionality and price. Reader can make an idea of what tools can be used for administration of Oracle database system and how the different instruments work. If the reader is interested in the purchasing of such tools, this work can give him the recommendation based on the comparison.
Reaction to errors and alerts in ETL
Klimt, Roman ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Zajíc, Ján (referee)
This work deals with information systems called Business Intelligence (BI). Especially, it focuses on one part, whose task is to extract data from primary information systems. This stage is known as extract, transform, load (ETL). ETL is one of the most important stage in BI solutions because the quality of data depends on this stage. These data are used for all analyses and created reports. The goal of this work is to suggest solution for active projects, which are short of automated controlling mechanism. This mechanism should inform users of BI solutions about errors in data. If data from primary systems are in such bad state that ETL process is not able to match primary keys to them, the data are stored in special tables and are not used for future analyses. This is a very serious problem because analyses and reports based on the data may be misrepresentative. This problem must be solved by repairing the data in primary information systems. The administrator of primary information system has to know about the incorrect so that the data could be repaired. Therefore, an automated e-mailing system has been designed to inform about the incorrect data.
Sourcing optimization in Thermo Fisher Scientific company
Spejchal, Luděk ; Toman, Prokop (advisor) ; Dudová, Lenka (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is a detailed view of a process and way of managing all the sourcing activities in the company Thermo Fischer Scientific. The focus (of my work) is a czech site of mentioned company situated in Mukařov, which, apart from production itself, is engaged also in sourcing for its own needs (where in most cases it has a decision power in its own hands) as well as for the whole company in the global measure (where it operates just as an intermediate searching for possible business partners, without any powers of decision). The main contribution of my work lies in the comparison of both of these variations and detailed investigation and description of all the activities that could help to optimize the global sourcing. I found out that entire optimizations are based on communication improvements among all the sourcing managers and technologists within the global corporation. On the basis of this fact I have projected models of documents the sourcing managers should work with, suppliers database and an information server. The result of my work is a process scheme which should contribute to the outsourced projects optimization.
Possibilities of using Caché database system
Brož, Ondřej ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Vedral, Pavel (referee)
Structure of this work is divided into a few main chapters. The biggest part is focused on a creation relational and object schema of a specific example and their realization in Caché database. The next goals are theoretically describe database, object model, its characteristics as well and comparison the object principles in Caché and Oracle database. After a few words whose describe the most important facts in a history of databases the reader can learn something about the Caché database. Mainly its architecture which is the greatest advantage against the competition. Next charter quickly show how to successfully install and access the database. In charter 4 the basic database tools are mentioned such as development environment Caché Studio, command line Caché Terminal and web interface for administration called Caché System Management Portal. The fifth and sixth chapter covers the main goal of this work. In fifth chapter the object model (relational model only in part), its basic principles (defined in ODMG standards) and object characteristics are described. The sixth chapter show the creation process of the object schema "step by step" together with possible ways how to insert data and select them. Final codes for structure and data are placed at the end of work . In last chapter I am trying to compare object characteristics in Caché and Oracle database(version 10gR2). The contribution of this work is in explanation of object principles with the "step by step" processes of creating and realization object schema shown on a concrete example (the official documentation doesn't obtain them).
Database model design for informational, community and e-learning portal focused on driving license applicants
Demuth, Jan ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Klas, Jan (referee)
This work is concerned with the process of designing and documentation of a web portal covering informational, community and e-learning application functionality focused on the field of driving schools and driving license applicants training and education. The emphasis lies on the phase of optimal database model design independent of the final technological solution of the developed application and documentation of relations and purpose of all entities in the system influenced by the process of design and further development of the physical database.
The design of database for the company Foram spol. s r.o.
Gottwald, Karel ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Klas, Jan (referee)
The work deals with the definition of terms, mention of history and theory of design databases. The main objective was to propose a solution for the company Foram spol. s r.o. on the basis of theoretical knowledge in order to be usable in practice. The logic was to capture the reality of the best capturing given situation. It was necessary to communicate with the company and analyze their requirements. They defined the basis for drawing up a conceptual and physical model. Diagrams were created in PowerDesigner version 12.0. Finally, the functionality of the proposal was verified on the test data.
Database design and database administration for a kindergarten
Vítek, Daniel ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Macák, Petr (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with creation of database design for a standard kindergarten, installation of the designed database into the database system Oracle Database 10g Express Edition and demonstration of the administration tasks in this database system. The verification of the database was proved by a developed access application.
Design database for a joiner workshop
Jun, Miroslav ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Klas, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis deal with analysis, design and implementation of a database for an aplication, which can use a joinerworkshop. The inspiration for this database I took in the company Setim s.r.o. The main function of this aplication is tracing products in the process of production. Thanks to this aplication is possible to find for each product workers, who are responsible for its manufacturing. The main goal of this thesis is creating a flexible design of database and its implementation in database system Oracle 10g Express Edition. The right function of this database is tested by the examplary SQL comands.
Framework for teaching Database Management Systems on VŠE Praha
Turčín, Pavel ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Palovská, Helena (referee)
This thesis focuses on design and subsequent realization of e-learning support for the database management systems course. The first step is definition of the e-learning itself as well as other related concepts. Following part analyzes current status of teaching and evaluating students' knowledge and other possible ways to do so without changing the basic course frame defined by the given syllabus. A list of requirements on the software framework is made on basis of this analysis. These requirements are technical (demanded functionality) and economical (costs of installation and maintenance). The most suitable e-learning system is chosen according to these requirements. The chosen system unfortunately does not fulfill all specified requirements and software witch does, is not available. In this case the following step is design and realization of such software. At first are all requirements specified in detail. The software solution is designed as three independently usable applications: Exercise client, Test client and Administrator. Software is implemented in C# programming language. Whole process of implementation is divided into three increments witch corresponds with projected applications. Every increment adds new functionality to existing solution and the output of every increment is fully usable component.
Preparation of test demo database and tuning of SQL commands
Valoušek, Filip ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Chlapek, Dušan (referee)
This bachelor work deals with projecting and implementation of the demo test database, which is used for training work with relational databases. A set of educational queries submissions which enable practising query language SQL (Structured Query Language) is one part of the work. There is a well-arranged table of correct output from data test for all of queries allowing to check correct query setting. In the theoretical part there is a short mention about the principles of databases projecting and data modelling, especially about the "Three schema approaches".
