Role of DAAD in German Foreign Cultural Policy after 1990

The thesis examines in detail the role of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in German foreign cultural policy. It traces the development of the DAAD in response to political and social changes and analyses it in two key periods: 1990-1999 and 2000-2022. The year 2000, when the new concept of German foreign cultural policy was presented, is considered a turning point that influenced the future direction of Germany. The study examines how the DAAD promotes cultural and academic exchange between Germany and other countries, including its focus on initiatives in Czechia. Through historical perspectives and the gradual establishment of DAAD programs, the thesis seeks to provide the transformation of this organization and highlight its key importance in promoting international mobility of students and scholars. It also analyses the challenges facing the organisation, including the declining interest in learning German as a foreign language, the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The thesis therefore focuses on the organisation's adaptation to these new conditions and describes the measures the organisation took to mitigate their impact. Image database system for glaucoma diagnosis support

Tato práce popisuje přehled standardních a pokročilých metod používaných k diagnose glaukomu v ranném stádiu. Na základě teoretických poznatků je implementován internetově orientovaný informační systém pro oční lékaře, který má tři hlavní cíle. Prvním cílem je možnost sdílení osobních dat konkrétního pacienta bez nutnosti posílat tato data internetem. Druhým cílem je vytvořit účet pacienta založený na kompletním očním vyšetření. Posledním cílem je aplikovat algoritmus pro registraci intenzitního a barevného fundus obrazu a na jeho základě vytvořit internetově orientovanou tři-dimenzionální vizualizaci optického disku. Tato práce je součásti DAAD spolupráce mezi Ústavem Biomedicínského Inženýrství, Vysokého Učení Technického v Brně, Oční klinikou v Erlangenu a Ústavem Informačních Technologií, Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen-Nurnberg.

German Foreign Cultural Policy in the Czech Republic after 1989: Promotion of the German Language

This thesis deals with German foreign cultural policy in the Czech Republic after 1989 in relation to the promotion of German language promotion. The thesis describes both the development of the conceptions of German foreign cultural policy and the promotion of German language based on activities of three German institutions: Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA), Goethe-Institut and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The research period is divided in two parts -before 1999 and since 2000, because the thesis assumes that there have been changes concerning quantity and quality of German policy regarding language promotion since about 2000. In addition the thesis searches for the effects on the real measures in the Czech Republic concerning the conceptual changes in German policy. After the 90's when the German was promoted massively in the Czech Republic as well as in the whole region of Central and Eastern Europe, the promotion of German has been rather declining since 2000. It is given by the lowering interest in the region just as by the lower importance that was attributed to the promotion of German.
