Practicing of Canine Therapy in the Context of Physiotherapy
PORUBSKÁ, Ines
This bachelor thesis explores the practical application of canine therapy within physiotherapy practice and its impact on rehabilitation and therapeutic processes. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to explore how physiotherapists are involved in canine therapy and its process. A sub-objective was to find out what is the role of the physiotherapist during the practice of canine therapy and what are the benefits of this method from their perspective. In the theoretical part, I describe chapters such as canine therapy and its forms and methods of practice and what are its general objectives. I then describe physiotherapists and their job description and how the fields of canine therapy and physiotherapy are interrelated. The methodology consisted in the choice of qualitative research method, semi-structured interview technique and data processing was carried out by open coding method. I divided the results into categories and presented them using diagrams. The results show that physiotherapists are involved in guiding and handling the patient during canine therapy and are dedicated to the patient during canine therapy. In doing so, they use physiotherapy methods and participate in the consultation of goals. They perceive the benefits both physically and psychologically for different groups of clients. Members of the multidisciplinary team are also involved in the process, either for supervision, insight or to provide holistic care. The findings of this thesis could provide valuable information for physiotherapists and health and social service professionals when exploring the benefits and use of canine therapy as part of comprehensive rehabilitation care.
Výchova a výcvik asistenčních psů - přístupy a metody
LAZÁRKOVÁ, Aneta
The bachelor thesis deals with the education and training of assistance and guide dogs, especially their pretraining. For this area are most often used breeds of retrievers, purposeful crosses and to a lesser extent also shepherd breeds - especially border collies. Approaches and methods that can be used when working with these dogs are presented. The actual observation focuses on the individual stages of the pre-training of future assistance and guide dogs and describes in detail the methodology of their training. A questionnaire survey was used to analyse the success of the pre-training of 35 dogs, including an assessment of their temperament. These dogs were monitored for sex, breed, origin (with or without pass of origin), success in completing training and reasons for removal from the program. The actual progress of the pre-training was monitored and recorded for four puppies between January 2022 and completion in March 2024. These were specifically a Border Collie, a Flat Coated Retriever, a Golden Retriever and a Goldendoodle. The Golden Retriever was the most used breed for assistance and guide dog training, while the Golden Retriever was also the breed with the highest number of dogs removed from training. Only 29 % of dogs successfully completed training and were handed over. The most common reasons for removal from training were inappropriate personality traits, heart and eye findings and radiographic findings on the musculoskeletal system. Of the four puppies studied, only the Flat Coated Retriever completed complete training as an assistance dog.

Dog-assisted education for preschool children
PUMPROVÁ, Jana
Canistherapy has a wide range of applications and is used in social, health care and educational sectors. We can say with certainty that the concept of canistherapy is known to the general public, but the understanding of more specific approach of AAI is unfortunately distorted. The aim of the bachelor's thesis focuses on the methods of applying the AAE to children of preschool age and what impact has the presence of a dog as a part of education of children in preschool. As part of the research methods, qualitative research methods were used, specifically participant observation, semi-structured interview, secondary data analysis and photo documentation. The results of this thesis confirm that canistherapy, specifically the AAE method, is very widely used in practice, but its correct recognition does not occur. Many preschools are very interested in canistherapy, but unfortunately as a one-time experience to secure diversification of the educational process, although its use in the field of therapy has huge possibilities. The result of research shows a large deficit in the awareness amongst preschool teaching staff. Based on the results of the research investigation, a methodological practise for one-time and regular canistherapy was proposed with a focus on the AAE method, and at the same time an information leaflet was compiled, intended specifically for preschool teachers.
