Parish history in Ústí nad Orlicí and the Roman Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia in years 1948-1961
Sklenář, Michal ; Pullmann, Michal (advisor) ; Blažek, Petr (referee)
The thesis follows the history of the Roman Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia between 1948-1961. The first part includes broader theoretical context and the second part contains historical context of the issues which are discussed in the third part. On the example of Václav Boštík, the dean in Ústí nad Orlicí between the years 1934-1942 and 1945-1961, and using the micro-historical method, the thesis demonstrates the running of a parish in a district town during the first thirteen years of the communist totalitarian rule. The options and actions of dean Václav Boštík - an ecclesiastic administrator and statutory representative - in various situations and his decisions, which had a direct and significant influence on the parish, are analyzed in the thesis. At the same time, the presented local situation is compared with the steps of the state towards the Church on the national level, which shows one of possible pictures of the ecclesiastical history in Czechoslovakia in the second half of the 20th century. Key words 20th century, the Roman Catholic Church, Czechoslowakia, communism, Ústí nad Orlicí, Václav Boštík (1897-1963)
History of the Catholic Church in Usti nad Orlici 1948-1963 and the Decane Vaclav Bostik in his Struggle with the Communst Regime
Sklenář, Michal ; Pullmann, Michal (advisor) ; Cuhra, Jaroslav (referee)
8 Abstract The thesis follows history of the Roman Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia in the 50's of the 20th century. It aims for a micro-historical approach to the problematics. The example of Václav Boštík, dean in Ústí nad Orlicí in years 1934 - 1942 and again in 1945 - 1961, captures both everyday life of the Church in the Stalin and Post-Stalin Era of the Czechoslovakian history and the strategies for survival in this very difficult time of the Church. The work analyzes situations, in which dean Boštík found himself in the 50's, and the decisions he chose or was made to choose. According to what measures he decided? When was he ready for compromise with the Communist Party and, on the contrary, when he stood firm on his opinions? How did his attitudes influenced the life of his parish? When was a conflict between parishioners and the Communist Party unavoidable and, on the other hand, when interests happened to concourse and a mutual coexistence was possible? Why did not revocation of dean Boštík come until 1961? Key words 20th century, History of Communism, Roman Catholic Church, Ústí nad Orlicí, Václav Boštík (1897 - 1963)

Origins of the doctrinal contradiction between the Catholic Church and Jehovah's Witnesses
Zoulová, Tereza ; Marcelli, Miroslav (advisor) ; Ivan, Michal (referee)
The aim of this paper is to describe the contradictions of Christian denominations, not dogmatically doctrinal, but generally doctrinal, in terms of how they arise and how they impact the thinking within the respective groups. Two churches were selected for this comparison, the Catholic Church and Jehovah's Witnesses, as representatives of the denominations with the most notable differences. The initial starting point is the history of the two churches, which highlights the cultural and historical conditions under which the two churches were formed. Further work on two cases of conflict, the concept of the Holy Trinity and access to apostolic succession, discusses the basic argumentative practices that apply to both churches. This passage shows that on this level the difference between the two communities is only minimal, the procedures applied by both are consistent. The argument is followed by the interpretative part, which deals with the search for the causes of discrepancies in the diversity of interpretations of the Bible, which was published as a joint authority of both communities from previous argumentation analysis. Finally, this work describes how the differences resulting from different interpretations are involved in the daily life and organization of the Church. A different discourse...
