The Demon-Lover Theme in Several Texts of Anglo-American Literature
REEGENOVÁ, Tereza
The thesis deals with a comparative analysis of the demon-lover motif in selected texts of English and American literature. The theoretical basis is the characteristics of the medieval ballad James Harris and some variations of the examined representation in the collection of traditional ballads by F. J. Child. Particular attention is paid to the role of supernatural in relation to the issue of guilt and punishment, in this regard, also the romantic versions of M. G. Lewis, G. A. Bürger and K. J. Erben are considered. The following chapters deals with stories that develop the demon-lover motif (the post-war stories by E. Bowen and S. Jackson). The literary analysis focuses primarily on the trauma of personal and historical past, and the related persecution of the victim, committed to the promise, to show the deepening of the psychological and emotional significance of the traditional story.

MRAZÍKOVÁ, Petra
Annotation The Bachelor Thesis is a result of survey in a field of Literary history and Literary theory. As might be expected it is based on qualitative research. Outcome of quantitative research is meant only to second our thesis. The Thesis reflects the latest state of research in above-mentioned fields and it leans on some of the former structuralistic or neostructuralistic Thesis. The Bachelor Thesis endeavors to bring new knowledge about one of literary group members associated with weekly magazine Lumir and a disciple of Jaroslav Vrchlicky Augustin Eugen Muzik (1859-1925). As far as general phase is concerned, in the context of bohemian literary discourse Thesis is devoted to 80s & 90s and it is further focused on artifacts of parnassism. The analytical part of the Thesis is based on poem analysis Libusino loze, Balady a legendy (1884) and its intepretation. Folk motifs in Bolesław Leśmians poetry
Jilečková, Alžběta ; Benešová, Michala (advisor) ; Kolmanová, Simona (referee)
Bolesław Leśmian is a polish writer active especially at the beginning of the 20th century. His work is hard to be classified and it does not perfectly fit into any particular literature movement. The main theme of this essay is the confrontation of his poetry with folk motives and folkiness in general, due to the fact that it is one of the biggest source of his inspiration. Lésmian often refers to the original and pure human experiences, found in nature and out of his contemporary world. Inspiration from legends, ballads and fairy tales is apparent throughout his work, including his usage of symbols, motives and characters. His language is also apparently inspired by these sources. In my essay, I focus on the analysis of typical characters and symbols that are taken from the folk literature. Moreover, I also focus on author's specific poetics of death and metamorphosis. The final chapter present several specific examples of author's inspiration by folk literature.

Alén Diviš and Karel Jaromír Erben's Kytice
Lahodová, Kateřina ; Klimešová, Marie (advisor) ; Skálová, Vanda (referee)
This thesis deals with illustratons to Kytice ballads by Karel Jaromír Erben. It is divided into two parts. The first section is focused on relations of the illustrations and the collection of poems as well as the historical context and the context of other painter's works. I try to point out that Diviš'es illustrations do not represent a new artistic stage but a synthesis of his previous works from the forties. In adition, the illustrations are closely connected with the artist's own destiny. In the other section of my thesis I analyse individual illustrations from the point of view of their different technics and motives. Another aspect follows relations between the illustrations and contents of respective individual poems. To sum up, the thesis aims to introduce Diviš'es unique collection of illustrations as an existential message of an artis stricken by his fate; that goes beyond ordinary illustrations for the ballads of the gratest Czech romantic poet. KEY WORDS  Illustrations  Mythus  Ballad  The Specter's Bride  Jan Zrzavý  Emil Filla
