Vopálenská, Zuzana ; Pokorná, Jitka (advisor) ; Chrzanowská, Babeta (referee)
TEACHING OF BACKSTROKE SWIMMING YOUNGER SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN Objectives: The main objective of this thesis is to create a digital video recording of a contemporary teaching method of backstroke swimming technique with younger school age children. A group who are from 6 to 9 years old participate in the research work. Methods: In this thesis we have in the first and second phase focused on collection datas from the literature and its other processing into a methodical series of exercises. In the third stage we used the Scenarios for video processing. Results: Findings of the thesis indicate a possible procedure for teaching backstroke swimming style with younger school age children. Keywords: didactics of physical education - swimming, backstroke, younger school age

Horničárová, Eva ; Břečková, Gabriela (advisor) ; Čechovská, Irena (referee)
Title: Application of backstroke to a patient with ankylosing spondylitis Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of the application of backstroke with chosen parameters to a patient with ankylosing spondylitis. To compare the effectiveness of this swimming exercise programme with a traditional exercise programme held in a gymnasium. This work investigates whether it is suitable to recommend backstroke swimming to patients with ankylosing spondylitis as an effective form of physical exercise for improving range of movements and reducing pain. Methods: The effectiveness of a 9 week long swimming programme was evaluated using a range of movements of the glenohumeral and coxal joints and of the spine. The presence of pain was measured by the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Diasese Activity Index. The same parameters were measured for another patient with the similar activity of the disease who took part in group exercises in a gymnasium. At the end of the programmes the parameters were compared and evaluated. Results: The swimming programme has improved the patient's posture and has strengthened back muscles. Pain was reduced in some parts of the back and also general pain measured by BASDAI. The range of movements of both glenohumeral joints improved in all measured directions. The range of movements...

Michalcová, Naďa ; Jurák, Daniel (advisor) ; Miler, Tomáš (referee)
Name: An overview of the performance of men and women in the discipline of the 100 m freestyle at the Olympics from 1924 to 2016. Aim: The first aim of the diploma thesis is to create a historical overview of the course of swimming competitions at the modern Olympics from 1924 to 2016. The second aim is to process personal profiles of male anf female swimmers at the first places in the discipline of the 100 m freestyle from 1924 to 2016. And the third aim is to compile a performanceoverview of all male and female finalists in the discipline of the 100 m freestyle after two always following Olympics from 1924 to 2016. Methods: The historical method was used in the search for sources of historical data in the development of swimming and the processing of individual Olympic Games. It consisted of analyzing historical facts, examining sources and creating an overview of developments. Based on the search and processing of individual performances, graphs were prepared and then the results were compared. Outcome: From the analysis of performance, we found that in the period from 1924 to 2016, men improved by 19%, which represents 11.42 s, and women by 27%, which is 19.70 s. The results of the research show that the development of men's performance slowed down while women's performance is still improving....
Rating scale for backstroke technique for children in early school age
Vetešníková, Barbora ; Čechovská, Irena (advisor) ; Peslová, Eva (referee)
Title: Rating scale for backstroke technique for children in early school age Objectives: Objective of the project is to create a rating scale for valutation of backstroke technique in early school age children. The thesis should specify a model technique for the corresponding development stage and formulate standards for backstroke technique valutation. Thereafter using the created rating scale with a group of children from a swimming school and swimming preliminary preparation (age 6-8). Utilize evaluated experience from practice to correct the rating scale. Methods: Data will be obtained by direct and indirect observation. To verify the created rating scale a video with 25 m section of swimming will be taken. 25 children from the swimming club TJ Lokomotiva Nymburk o.s. and the swimming school Ponorka will be analysed. Results: Outcome of the project is to specify the backstroke model technique for children in development stage 6-8 years and determine deviations from that model technique. For technique evaluation a record sheet and rating scale was created, which was used to diagnose 25 children. Experience from utilization of the rating scale led to a correction and improvement. Keywords: swimming, backstroke, rating scale
Comparison involvement of muscle groups in the circular movements of the upper limbs on land and in water
Hejkalová, Barbora ; Jurák, Daniel (advisor) ; Miler, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Comparison involvement of muscle groups in the circular movements of the upper limbs on land and in water Objectives: The aim of this thesis, is to determine the muscles aktivity inside the water and out of the water. Methods: This is a pilot experimental study, which was done on one proband. Proband was a man - in the past professional swimmer. The surface EMG muscle activity was scanned on selected muscles during the circular movements by upper limbs on the land when the proband stand up and in the water where proband swam by crawl technique. Both movemenets were done by the same speed. The EMG signal was then analyzed and evaluated the average of muscule maximum voluntary contraction (MVC) and average of muscules working during the circular movement out of the water and inside the water. The results were compered each other. Results: Based on the measurements, we can conclude that, the muscle activity is the same in both of the examined muscles, M. Obliquus external and M. Thoracic erector spinae. Other muscles M. Deltoideus clavicularis, M. Triceps brachii, M. Trapezius ascendens and M. Trapezius descendens work differently, the variation can be between 1 /3 to 1 /5 of muscle aktivity higher out of the water. The only muscle that works on land with a lower intensity than in water is M....
