Functional Safety for Microcontrollers
Klecker, Jan ; Pavlík, Michal (referee) ; Hejátková, Edita (advisor)
This Master’s thesis deals with the principles and mechanisms of functional safety for microcontrollers. The IEC 60730 and IEC 60335 standards are described, from which the requirements for testing of microcontroller functional blocks are derived. Furthermore, the requirements for designing safety software are discussed. The most important chapter of the theoretical part is the design and discussion of functional safety tests for the given peripherals. In the practical part, a demo hardware of a gas boiler with safety features and diagnostic mechanisms controlled by two NXP KV46 microcontrollers communicating via a UART interface is designed. In the software chapter, the design of the application software for the gas boiler is described and then functional safety tests are implemented for the microcontrollers. For testing and demonstration purposes, a graphical user interface is designed in the FreeMASTER tool.
Modular Educational Platform for Embedded Systems and Digital Circuits Domain
Koupý, Pavel ; Bidlo, Michal (referee) ; Šimek, Václav (advisor)
The aim of the work is the design and implementation of two circuit boards delivering learning platforms, which will consist of two separate circuit boards with ARM MCU and a programmable FPGA gate array that will be interconnectable and appropriately complemented by peripherals. These platforms will be developed by analysing current teaching and development platform solutions and then demonstrating on practical examples. The main benefit of this work should be update and simplification of existing equipment. At the same time, there is an emphasis on greater transparency of the whole solution, so that it is not too complicated for an aspiring student to familiarise himself with modern micro-controllers and programmable gate arrays and can link the simpler units into more complex ones, where the individual boards can be used as separate working units and their interconnection will provide a computationaly stronger yet more complex device.
Profiling of Embedded Applications
Koleček, František ; Mrázek, Vojtěch (referee) ; Strnadel, Josef (advisor)
This thesis is about profiling of embedded applications. The thesis is focused primarily on the ARM Cortex-M platform. The theoretical part of this thesis contains explanation of basic principles and terms associated with profiling and development of embedded applications. The thesis also summarizes existing profiling methods and tools associated with this topic. The goal of the practical part of this thesis is to use the chosen means to profile various parameters and evaluate the results. I decided to implement a library containing profiling tools, which allow for execution time measurement and stack usage measurement. Results obtained using this library were analyzed by calculating the measurement uncertainty.
