Mechanical response during dynamic loading of layers prepared by cold spray technology
Šprincl, Jan ; Válka, Libor (referee) ; Řehořek, Lukáš (advisor)
Cold spray is a relatively modern technology that falls into the additive category. It is a coating method that doesn´t cause the input material to melt. This brings many advantages, including the minimization of changes to the original structure, the absence of a heat-affected zone, and the possibility of combining different types of materials. This work mainly focuses on the deposition of Ti6Al4V titanium powder, along with other materials to supplement or modify the spray, improve its efficiency, and enhance its mechanical properties. Ballistic tests, three-point bending tests, indentation methods, optical analysis using light and electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, and the influence of thermal treatment on the structure were used to evaluate the properties. Thermal treatment led to the formation of completely new phases in the structure, resulting in a significant increase in the coating's hardness along with a reduction in its porosity. Highly hard phases based on TiC and Ti5Si3 were formed in a tough matrix composed of varying ratios of Ni-Ti and associated elements – V, Al, Si. Finally, proposals for potential future development of this material are described. Preconditions for specific improvements in the methods and procedures used in this work are laid out, with a very promising outlook for the future of this material and its potential implementation in real ballistic protection, typically in the military industry.

Záviský, Matěj ; Jelínek, Radim (referee) ; Krutiš, Vladimír (advisor)
This thesis focuses on the production of aluminium castings with steel inserts produced by hybrid investment casting using additive technologies. The main objective is to analyse the production possibilities and quality of the casting, with emphasis on the shell cracking issue during high temperature firing of the model. The thesis deals with innovative techniques in investment casting and process optimization to achieve a strong metallurgical bond between materials. Bimetallic components can be used to achieve optimum application specific performance and structural integrity in various industry sectors. The use of digital technology and simulation software has also contributed to improving the final casting quality.
Production of a replica of the switch cover using the investment casting method
Klátil, Ondřej ; Kaněra, Miloš (referee) ; Jelínek, Radim (advisor)
The work is focused on the production of a replica switch cover for the ČZ 250/471 motorcycle from 1974. The theoretical part of thesis includes a review of the production of permanent and expendable patterns, mold making, various casting methods, additive technologies categorized under rapid prototyping methods, and a description of scanning methods. In the experimental part, the informations from the theoretical part are verified through the experiment of producing the switch cover replica. The original part was first scanned, then the scan was edited and converted into a solid model, which was then printed on an FDM printer as a expendable pattern for the investment casting method using shell molds. These castings were then evaluated against the originals. At the end of the experiment, surface defects were found, the causes of which could not be definitively explained. Subsequently, various production methods were outlined for specific ranges according to the number of products.
Use of 3D technology in foundry industry
Straka, Pavel ; Krutiš, Vladimír (referee) ; Pernica, Vítězslav (advisor)
The work is focused on replacing a faulty briefcase handle with an aluminium substitution. The handle is fabricated with the help of reverse engineering, where the handle is scanned with a 3D scanner. With that information, a model copy of the part is made, which is 3Dprinted from PLA and PolyCast materials. These handles are used as expendable models, which are used for casting using an “investment casting” method. Those are made from an AlSi10Mg alloy. Theoretical part deals with additive technologies, which are mostly used for manufacturing of foundry models and moulds. Next, the basic principles of 3Dscanning are described, and the term reverse engineering is also explained.
Design of modern speaker body with usage of new technology
Kůst, Martin ; Prokop, Aleš (referee) ; Řehák, Kamil (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the analysis and design optimization of a speaker cabinet (enclosure) produced by the additive technology of 3D sand printing. The introductory part is devoted to the theory, both in the field of noise, vibration and the method of their calculations, as well as the theory of speakers and their systems. Numerical and experimental modal analysis is performed, which were compared to determine the mechanical properties of the new material, including material damping. This is followed by experimental and numerical harmonic analysis, with output in the form of a numerical model describing the behaviour of the structure during its excitation. The data are compared with a modal analysis of the internal acoustic space and the critical shapes and their frequencies are determined. At the end of the work, construction modifications are proposed to increase the rigidity of enclosures, the influence of which is evaluated on the created numerical models.
Possibilities of using aditive technologies in direct manufacturing of foundry moulds
Herzán, Jiří ; Šlajs, Jan (referee) ; Horáček, Milan (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the production of foundry molds with using additive technologies. At first, the additive technologies are distributed according to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) and subsequently according to the state of the base material. Then, three types of technologies, that can be manufactured by Rapid Prototyping are described. The last chapter of the bachelor thesis is a real example of the production of a prototype fan casting from aluminum alloy AlSi9Cu3(Fe), which was casted into a printed mold by “3D Sand Printing” technology. Based on the obtained data were assessed technical, time and cost parameters of manufacturing the fan. The findings were compared with the molding technology of the ordinary printed pattern, which is an alternative to prototype production. The casting of the fan was cast in Armatmetal s.r.o. in Olomouc.
Design of auxetic structures for the 3D print
Sobol, Vítězslav ; Škaroupka, David (referee) ; Červinek, Ondřej (advisor)
Behavior in which the material expands in one direction and in a perpendicular direction under tensile loading is called auxetic and is associated, e. g. with increased indentation resistance. Auxetic behavior is mainly due to the typical geometry of the internal structure. Therefore, it can be achieved by a unique arrangement of inner micro-lattice structure. Through additive technologies such as Selective Laser Melting (SLM), it is possible to manufacture such complex geometry. This bachelor thesis deals with the design of a spatial micro-lattice structure that will exhibit auxetic behavior and can be made by the SLM method. Based on an extensive research on the topic of 2D and 3D auxetic structures, a new type of auxetic structure was designed. The manufacturability was verified by making several samples in different dimensional configurations. Auxeticity and mechanical properties were subsequently tested using a drop test. By evaluating it, it was possible to determine the influence of dimensional parameters on the overall behavior of the structure.

Model of reversible turbine was used as a base for manufacturing. CAD system SolidWorks was used for the model creation, where output formats were SLDPRT and STL. For error check of STL data software MiniMagics was used. For preparation of 3D printing data softwares SD View and Catalyst EX were used. CAM system SolidCAM was used for creation of machining strategy. Devices used for manufacturing of prototypes were 3D printer Solido SD 300 Pro, 3D printer Stratasys uPrint and 5axis mill Hermle C20U. The bachelor thesis deals with the study of the heat treatment of the maraging steel 1.2709 (DIN X3NiCoMoTi18-9-5). The first part of the work is survay of studies that focus on heat treatment of maraging steel made by forging or Selective laser melting technology. Based on that section, a heat treatment was designed by which the samples manufactured on ProX 300 from company 3D Systems and M2 Cusing from company Concept Laser were treated. The effect of heat treatment on the mechanical properties of the samples was subsequently tested by tensile testing and metallographic analysis. The test results of both sets of samples were compared with each other and with the results of other studies and the impact of the described heat treatment on the material was evaluated.
