Changing Images of Heroines in Popular Prose Romances. Velmi utěšená a kratochvílná historie o krásné panně Mageloně (The Delightful and Entertaining Story of the Beutiful Maiden Maguelone). The Heroine of this Story from the Point of View of the Courtly Ideal.

Velmi utěšená a kratochvílná historie o krásné panně Mageloně, dceři krále z Neapolis, a o jednom rytíři jménem Petrovi, znamenitého hraběte z Provincí synu (The Delightful and Entertaining Story of the Beautiful Young Maiden Maguelone, Daughter of the King of Naples, and of a certain Knight called Peter, the Son of the Distinguished Count of Provence) printed anonymously in Olomouc in 1780, is one of those works into which literary science has hitherto scarcely ever inquired. It is nevertheless a text with a very long and complex genesis. We can follow its development from a medieval French tale of love, via a German adaptation to an early modern Czech popular prose romance. In the story of Maguelone, close attention is paid, as the very title suggests, to the main heroine, which is also a theme which in research into older Czech literature has been hitherto rather neglected. In the present thesis, we focus therefore on the analysis of this character. In particular, we try to show how the way she is portrayed is significantly influenced by the medieval conception of courtly literature, despite the fact that courtly epic literature is not otherwise particularly well documented in literature written in Czech and left no particularly rich tradition behind it. The analysis of the following impact of the novel Thérèse Raquin on further Zola's work is also emphasised. The comparison of novels follows after the overall inclusion of Zola's works into the literary-historical context of his time. The aim of the work is first of all to reveal and make more familiar the Zola's fascination by the central theme and the main heroine of the novel Thérèse Raquin

The conception of a female protagonist in Arnošt Lustig' s literary work.

The diploma thesis deals with the personality of Arnošt Lustig and his work. Apart from the biographical section, it focuses on the specific features of his literary work, including characteristics of the author's style of writing and linguistic means. In particular, it focuses on the analysis of several selected works where the central figures are women. It records how the Lustig's life is experience was reflected in the selection of these female figures. In the center of interest is the motive of the female heroine, the characteristics of the individual types, interpretation of their thinking, behavior and negotiation against the background of the historical context.

Women in the title role

The thesis deals with the analysis of the literary titles and literary female heroines, that entered into the title of a literary work. The theoretical part first discusses the concept of womanhood for two important philosophers - Gilles Lipovetsky in his work, The third wife[1] and Milan Machovec in the publication Philosophy in the face of the demise of[2] . The Centre of gravity of the theoretical basis regarding the literary theoretical categories - titles and literary characters, Josef Peterka textbooks represent the Theory of literature for teachers[3] , the rigorous work of Josef Lesak Poetics in contemporary Czech prose[4] and an extensive theoretical literary publication of Daniela Hodrová . ... on the edge of chaos[5] . The knowledge from the theoretical part is applied to the analytical part of the thesis, which discusses titles of the nine selected literary works and nine female heroines of Czech prose of the 2nd half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, who have been highlighted in the titles of these literary works. Heroines and Gabriela Preissová. Female characters in Czech realistic drama.

Abstraction The aim of this thesis is to collect materials which are related to the plays of Gabriela Preissová. That is to gather in particular contemporary reviews dealing with the way that female characters were treated in the writer's tragedies. Due to these resources the circumstances of the composition of these plays and the historical responses are then outlined in the individual parts of the thesis. Further, various female characters and the main issues contained in the plays, are being analyzed. The main purpose of this work is to describe and define the female character in the plays of Gabriela Preissová. Key words: drama, realism, Gabriela Preissová, heroine.
