Czech Primary Teachers' Approach to English Pronunciation Teaching

The aim of this diploma thesis is to ascertain the current state of English pronunciation teaching at primary schools in the Czech Republic by researching Czech teachers' approach to it. The thesis comprises a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part first describes the importance, aim, and content of pronunciation teaching as well as the effectiveness of pronunciation instruction and reasons for neglecting it. Furthermore, it characterizes young learners, gives recommendations for teaching pronunciation to them, describes an integrative approach to pronunciation teaching, and looks into how pronunciation is taught at primary schools in different European countries. The practical part of this diploma thesis presents, analyzes, and discusses the findings of a survey completed by 108 Czech primary teachers focusing on their approach to pronunciation teaching. The results of the survey describe the teachers' pronunciation pedagogy training, their perspectives on pronunciation teaching, the way they implement it into their English lessons at primary schools, the reasons why some educators teach pronunciation spontaneously, and the changes which would facilitate systematic pronunciation teaching. Meetings with seniors as an opportunity to teach younger pupils

This Master Thesis deals with the problematics of meeting younger pupils with seniors. The theoretical part of this thesis is generally about intergenerational learning, as well about intergenerational learning in different environments and other connections. I am looking for an answer to the question of whether it is attractive for teachers organize meetings of pupils with seniors in their teaching, under what conditions they do so, what prevents teachers from organizing intergenerational learning if they do not. It also deals with the current changes in families and the importance of intergenerational meetings. Practical part of the thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is pre-research, based on that we learn topicality of the topic. The main goal of the thesis, which based on a questionnaire construction, is to know if teachers think that meeting of pupils and pensioners during classes is helpful for pupils. Partial goals are to find advantages and disadvantages of those meetings and possibile examples from practice. All the partial goals are accomplished. The last practical part is about action research. This research is based on two meetings of pupils and pensioners. Approaches to the development of communication skills of children of the younger school-age

The diploma thesis deals with the communication skills of children of the younger school- age in a common primary school. In this thesis, expressive and receptive components of speech are monitored and the progress in both of them written down. The theoretical part focuses on "communication" in general and on the definition of related terms as well. An "impaired communication ability" is also described and its individual types are elaborated in detail. For each type, the thesis states description of symptoms, diagnosis and prevention. Last but not least, the theoretical part deals with the education of children with special educational needs. The diploma thesis also covers and explains terms that are connected to this topic as well as explains support measures or aids. The research part, using mixed research (qualitative and quantitative), focuses on children of the younger school-age attending a common primary school. The specifics that occur in the communication skills of these children are observed as well as their progress in particular exercises. Future tense markers in present-day English

This thesis deals with the verbal category of future time and future tense markers in present-day English. The next part of the work is the characteristic of the Youth and Children organization, didactic treatment of the indicative of three basic future tenses using the project education aimed to younger school-aged children and the last part of the work analyzes the knowledge of the elder school-aged children using the questionnaire investigation.
