The comparison of stereognosis and pallesthesia of the preferred and non-preferred upper extremity in students of physiotherapy
Boráňová, Martina ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Title: The comparison of stereognosis and pallesthesia of the preferred and non-preferred upper extremity in students of physiotherapy Objectives: To the objectives of the work belong the processing and compilation of information concerning laterality and sensation in the region of the upper extremities, then to evaluate the preference of the upper extremity by means of elected tests in 30 students of physiotherapy and to evaluate, whether the sensitivity of stereognosis and pallesthesia is higher in the region of the non- preferred upper extremity than in the region of the preferred upper extremity or whether the sensitivity of stereognosis and pallesthesia both of the upper extremities do not differ. Methods: The tasks of the work were dealt with four tests directed to the examination of preference, stereognosis and pallesthesia in the region of upper extremities. The statistic analysis of the results of the examination was carried out by means of paired t-test. Results: In the examination of pallesthesia in the region of processus styloideus radii and in the examination of stereognosis the null-hypothesis, that the sensitivity of pallesthesia / stereognosis examined by selected test in the region of preferred and non-preferred upper extremity in students of physiotherapy does not differ, was at...
Evaluation of sensation in hands area in patients with multiple sclerosis
Veverková, Helena ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Řasová, Kamila (referee)
Title: Evaluation of sensation in hands area in patients with multiple sclerosis Objective: Summarize findings about multiple sclerosis and sensation in the hands area. Find suitable testing methods and use them to evaluate the quality of deep sensation in the hands area in patients with multiple sclerosis. Method: With help of selected tests to evaluate the quality of deep sensation in the fingers and palms area in selected probands with multiple sclerosis. Compare the results depending on the current spasticity and condition of the patient. Results: There were founded, that in people with multiple sclerosis the quality of vibrating and discriminating sensation and stereognosis in the hands area is reduced. The quality of statesthesia, kinesthesia, vibrating and discriminating sensation isn't directly linearly dependent on the current spasticity. The quality of stereognosis is directly linearly dependent on the current spasticity. Keywords: sensation, multiple sclerosis, spasticity
The Instrumental Stimulation of the Superficial and Deep Sensation in Upper Limb Therapy by Clients with Acquired Brain Injury
Strubinská, Šárka ; Slepičková, Veronika (advisor) ; Kuželková, Anna (referee)
OF THE BACHELOR THESIS Title: The Instrumental Stimulation of the Superficial and Deep Sensation in Upper Limb Therapy by Clients with Acquired Brain Injury Abstract: The bachelor thesis deals with the device SaeboStim Micro and its use within sensory therapy of the upper extremity that is experienced by people with acquired brain injury. The device uses a so called sensory electrical stimulation (without muscle contraction) that affects different dysfunctions, besides sensation. In the theoretical part is summarized the knowledge about acquired brain injury (traumatic and nontraumatic) and its consequences, further knowledge about sensation and its impairments and the principles and possibilities of sensory assessments. In this part it is also possible to find information about rehabilitation for people with acquired brain injury and about SaeboStim Micro. The aim of this thesis was to determine the efficiency of the SaeboStim Micro device in therapy of sensation of the upper extremity of three people with acquired brain injury in the chronic stage. The partial goal of the thesis was to map the experience with the use of SaeboStim Micro and the prevalence of this device in the Czech Republic by means of a questionnaire intended for occupational therapists. In the practical part there are three...
Sensory Assessment and Therapy in Patients after Brain Damage. Subtitle: Sensory Reeducation in Patients after Stroke
Šimáková, Hana ; Krivošíková, Mária (advisor) ; Rybářová, Kateřina (referee)
The Bachelor's thesis focuses on examination and therapy of sensation in patients after brain damage. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the somatosensory system from the neurological point of view. It also describes sensation disorders and the impact of impaired sensation on the function of the upper limb. The thesis contains two standardized tests for sensory assessment - the Rivermead Assessment of Somatosensory Performance and the United States Version of the Nottingham Sensory Assessment. The thesis also covers sensory therapy and proposes sensory reeducation for patients after brain damage. The practical part of the thesis contains a draft translation of the United States Version of the Nottingham Sensory Assessment. It tests this assessment in real life and evaluates its clinical utility in order to compile a plan of sensory reeducation for two patients after stroke.
Comparison of selected parameters of function and shape of the foot in volleyball and beach volleyball women players
Albrechtová, Alice ; Satrapová, Lenka (advisor) ; Novotná, Irena (referee)
Title Comparison of selected parameters of function and shape of the foot in volleyball and beach volleyball women players Objectives The goal of this thesis is to find out if there are differences in chosen parameters for competitively playing volleyball and beach volleyball women players. Compare the influence of the sports footwear and hard surface court on the shape and function of the foot with the bare foot on the sand in technically similar sports. Methods The research involved 10 women playing volleyball and 10 women playing beach volleyball. All the players were 19 - 34 years old and all were regularly playing at competitive level. Selected monitored parameters were the quality of perception of sensation in the foot, foot arch shape evaluated by using plantogram and examination postural stability by using the Véle test. The test results were evaluated in both sports separately and then compared with each other. Results The results of this thesis show better readings in all investigated tests in both lower limbs at beach volleyball women players. Only in the case of the shape of the foot arch test on the left foot was the result statistically significant. Other selected parameters in shape and function of beach volleyball women players feet did not show plausible statistical difference....

Somatestezie variability in a group of physiotherapy students
Koudelková, Alena ; Lepšíková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Čech, Zdeněk (referee)
Dissertation "Variability of Somatesthesis in Students of Physiotherapy " deals with somatosensorical system in its theoretical part. In the practical part, sets of tests - aimed at somatesthesis function testing - are described. These tests are easy to implement and could be objectified. This pilot study was performed on a set of 29 Subjects aged 24 - 30. Selection criteria were set to physiotherapy studies and good health condition. The research ran on FN Motol physiotherapy clinics and lasted from October 2007 until January 2008. Measurements were repeated four times (in random day time), while the interval between examinations were randomly selected 1-12 days. The methodical part closely desribes measurement procedures and performance of each test. The first aim of this dissertation was to create a set of examination tests, concentrated on somatesthesis functions, which could be objectively measured. Further we set a target to find out, if sensomotorical learning effect appears by repeated measurement of same Subject and if quality of somatesthesis functions anyhow changes depending on internal environment status.
