Childlessness and its aspects in selected European countries
Žemberová, Karolína ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Šustová, Šárka (referee)
This thesis addresses childlessness and its aspects in selected European countries: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. The aim of this work is to discover whether there are differences between capitalist and post-socialist countries when it comes to the development of childlessness and fertility. The tools are: the analysis of fertility, the average age of mothers at childbirth and analysis of childlessness using both transversal and longitudinal indicators. The indicators used in the analysis were of the first and second category. Another aim of this thesis is to find out whether there are differences between the attitudes, opinions and values when it comes to approach to the family, the division of gender roles and children between childless respondents and respondents with children. The differentiation between sex and age groups through the use of three matrices with questions from three surveys (European Values Study, Eurobarometer and ISSP) are also investigated. The factor analysis and the method of principal components are used to reduce the number of variables. The results of the factor analysis are indexed and the indexes are then used to reveal how the differences manifest themselves in the monitored groups of respondents. The main result of...
Demographic differentiation of states of the USA
Hájková, Sylva ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Kocourková, Jiřina (referee)
This thesis deals with differences between individual states of the United States from the demographic point of view, and searches for causes of these differences. United States are composed of several disparate areas, which are different from each other in their location, size, number and composition of the population, and historical evolution. All this affects the demographic characteristics of those territorial units. Probably the main cause of differentiation of individual states is racial composition, since the intensity of demographic events is specific to each race or ethnicity. The states differ in levels of fertility, mortality, marriage or education. To confirm these assumptions, the statistical method canonical correlation was used. Using cluster analysis has revealed that there are groups of states that have similar demographic profile. Most notably, it shows the influence of ethnic and racial composition in the south of the United States, where the highest proportion of populations is composed by black race and hispanic origin. The differentiation of levels of infant mortality and life expectancy are mainly influenced. Key words: United States of America, race, ethnicity, black population, hispanic population, total fertility rate, life expectancy, canonical correlation, cluster analysis
Development of fertility in countries and regions of the European union after 1991
Kurkin, Roman ; Šídlo, Luděk (advisor) ; Bartoňová, Dagmar (referee)
This thesis deals with the development of fertility in countries and regions of the European Union in the context of convergence and divergence trends. The goal is to analyze and evaluate the basic trends in international and regional differentiation of fertility by studying the literature and by my own analysis trying to explain the observed spatial differences and to identify problems in methodology and data collection. The European Union is for the purpose of analysis divided into western and eastern part in order to respond better to the hypothesis defined in the introductory chapter. First, the analysis of the regional differentiation of fertility rate is made. Variability in fertility at the regional level is consequently successfully explained by international differences which allow you to move the analysis at the state level. International differentiations of fertility rate are then explained by the different position of states in the process of second demographic transition. Despite the expectations, a clear trend towards convergence in fertility levels was not observed in the western part of the European Union and its spatial patterns remained stable. The eastern part experienced a significant decrease in the intensity of fertility which caused its convergence and overshadowed the ongoing changes...
Regional population projections
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Aneta
This thesis deals with the regional population projections. The theoretical part is divided into several chapters, which describe and explain the basic concepts, such as demographics, birth rate, death rate and more. There are also analyzed the actual projection methods and specifying formulas. Last but not least consulted on the population projection of the Czech Republic in 2050 and the most recent projections up to the year 2100th. Own part is about the screening for districts in South Bohemian region. Projections were prepared for districts: Ceske Budejovice, Cesky Krumlov, Jindrichuv Hradec, Prachatice, Pisek, Strakonice and Tabor. As evaluation indicators were elected, population, life expectancy, total fertility rate and the secondary sex ratio or even sex ratio. Projections for population and life expectancy has been created specially for men and women.

Salaba, Jakub
This Bachelor thesis deals with the development of birth rate (fertility) and mor-tality in Germany after its division in 1949 and the subsequent reunification in 1990. The theoretical part focuses on the historical development of Germany, de-scription of basic concepts related to mortality and birth rate, as well as the actual development of these indicators. The theoretical part also describes basic statisti-cal methods. The practical part of this work deals with the comparison of devel-opment of infant mortality and total fertility rate using time series.
Comparison of the level of fertility rate in selected EU countries.
Lešníková, Barbora ; Miskolczi, Martina (advisor) ; Cséfalvaiová, Kornélia (referee)
The objective of this diploma thesis is on one side to analyze the fertility rate in Slovakia, Czech republic and Sweeden and to compare their development after the fall of the communist establishment from 1990 till 2014 and on the other side to categorize these countries to clusters of EU countries based on chosen variables using multidimensional statistical analysis. I consider the second chapter of the thesis, which focuses on analysis of intensity of fertility rate using direct standardization as well as on verification, whether connection between clusters of EU countries and their geographical location exists, to be my personal addition to the addressed issue. Based on my analyses, the conclusion of the thesis is a finding, that countries, which support reduced working hours have a higher total fertility rate. For that reason, if the natality is about to grow, it is a must to concentrate not only on states family politics but mainly to support the ability of young mothers to become part of a regular working process while on their maternity leave.
The Development of Total Fertility Rate in the Czech Republic since the Second World War
Nosálová, Nikola ; Šimpach, Ondřej (advisor) ; Šimková, Martina (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the development of total fertility rate in the Czech Republic since the Second World War till present, since some remarkable changes took place during the period. The thesis consists of two parts. The first part is concerned with family and its functions, which have been altering in a significant way, but also with family policy and such factors which appear influential in the young people's decision-making about whether to have their own baby or not. In the second part of the thesis the author analyzes birth and fertility rate development based on the Eurostat and CZSO statistical data. Also the future prospect of birth and fertility rate is dealt with for the aging population is a widely discussed topic of utmost importance. The goal of the thesis is to summarize the findings from the time series analysis of birth and fertility rate, to discover which factors are significant for the number of newborn babies and to try to predict the birth and fertility rate development in the early future.
Influence of state social policy on fertility rates
Filikarová, Zuzana ; Šimková, Martina (advisor) ; Fučíková, Simona (referee)
The aim of my bachelor's thesis is to provide an overview of a birth rate development in the European countries - in the Czech Republic, France and Sweden in a period of 20 years (1990 - 2010). The work includes individual characteristics of the state social policy of the population, history of the birth rates and a demographic projection for a future. The thesis is an attempt to outline the potential improvement of social policy with a focus on a family policy, so that the population drop of the Czech republic's citizens might be avoided in the future. Furthermore, the development of countries family policies where the birth rate is on a desired level and from which the Czech Republic could draw the inspiration is described. The conclusion of the thesis contains several suggestions how the family policy could develop in the future.
