Assessment of the effectiveness of advanced oxidation processes via ecotoxicity tests
Procházková, Petra ; Vávrová, Milada (referee) ; Zlámalová Gargošová, Helena (advisor)
Recently, an increasing problem in wastewater treatment is the insufficient removal of organic pollutants. These substances can be toxic to the environment already in a small amount, either acutely or chronically. The goal is therefore to develop of technologies that ensure their effective removal. One possibility is to use advanced oxidation processes. Advanced oxidation processes work on the principle of non-selective oxidation mediated by OH radicals. Several methods such as O3/H2O2 (Peroxone), UV/H2O2 or Fenton´s reaction can be used to generate them. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the effectiveness of the used advanced oxidation processes in wastewater treatment via ekotoxicity tests. Wastewater samples treated with advanced oxidation processes on the pilot unit showed low values of acute toxicity for selected test organisms (D. magna, T. platyurus, S. alba, L. minor). For the sample of waste water that was treated with the UV/H2O2 on AOP laboratory unit, there was an increase in acute toxicity on the testing organism D. magna and L. minor. The similar effect was observer in the tests with the D. magna with the model samples treated with the same method, while the tests on the L. minor showed a reduction in toxicity.
Možnosti zlepšení kvality vody v chovu ryb pomocí plovoucích mokřadů - přehledová studie
JINDRA, Tomáš
The bachelor thesis deals with the technology of floating wetlands, which construction could lead to improvement of water quality in fishponds. The aim of the thesis is to describe existing methods of water purification using wetlands with surface and subsurface water flow (root treatment plants). Further, to describe the method of refining in biological treatment reservoirs. One of the main chapters describes the construction of an artificial floating wetland. The cost / function ratio is often emphasized in their construction. However, it is important to mention that not all materials have a positive effect on water quality such as artificial materials. If possible, natural biodegradable materials that are environmentally friendly and often easier to handle with should be preferred. In addition, they are able to decompose in the environment and this can also save the cost of their disposal. In the thesis, a list of suitable wetland plants is proposed, focusing on species that are capable of growth and survival in our climatic conditions. The choice of species also depends on the type of habitat. Due to the low water transparency in fishponds, emergent and floating plant species, such as common reed (Phragmites australis), reed canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea), cattail (Typha spp.), branched bur-reed (Sparganium erectum) and duckweed (Lemna spp.), could be suitable. Nowadays, fishponds are in unsustainable conditions and water quality may become a limiting factor in fish production in the future. Floating wetlands may play an important role in its improvement.

Dudíková, Kristýna ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Vymazal, Jan (referee)
This thesis is focused to the comparison of two wastewater treatment systems - constructed wetlands and mechanical-biological wastewater treatment plant. The main goal of the theses is to compare two types of wastewater treatment systems and to evaluate hypothesis that constructed wetlands are cheaper and more efficient than mechanical-biological wastewater treatment plant. To be able to compare two various wastewater treatment systems 18 (9 constructed wetlands and 9 mechanical-biological plants, three size groups of both types of plants) wastewater treatment plant were chosen and compared. The treatment effectiveness, investment and operating costs, advantages and disadvantages of both the systems were compared. The information about all individual systems was obtained from the local municipalities, operators and partially from the Ministry of Environment of CR. Obtained data involved treatment technology, amount of annual treated water, building data and capital and operating costs. In some waste water treatment plant (WWTP) the water samples were taken and the analyses of chosen parameters (not measured in WWTP) were done. Once in 2010 year the samples of water, sediments and sludges were taken and the analyses of heavy metals was done. For assessment of operational problems in constructed...
Vyhodnocení účinnosti čistírny odpadních vod v Lipníku nad Bečvou
Masařová, Markéta
The thesis "Evaluation of the effectiveness of the wastewater treatment plant in Lipník nad Bečvou" compares the effectiveness of wastewater treatment before and after the plant reconstruction. This work is comprised of the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part applies overview of the water law legislation, sewerage, types of wastewater and concrete methods of wastewater treatment. The practical part is focused on wastewater treatment in the city. Included is the transport of wastewater, description of treatment technology before and after plant reconstruction. Follows the graphical results of wastewater treatment plant load, analytic wastewater checks and effectiveness of the WTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant) in years 2005 and 2015. The results show that the original wastewater treatment technology was, according to compliance with the emission standards, insufficient. For this reason, complete WTP reconstruction followed. From the current WTP results, it is evident that the hydraulic load is at 50 % average, but it is overloaded with the substance. Despite this fact, WTP maintains its high effectiveness in pollution elimination. The levels of pollution on the WTP output do not exceed the values of the emission standards and limits.

The diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of the efficiency of wastewater treatment at a selected wastewater treatment plant in Hodějice. It is used for the treatment of mostly sewage water from five municipalities. The aim was to obtain data on the water quality at the inflow and outflow from the WWTP based on its own monitoring, calculate the efficiency and to compare it with the data provided by the WWTP Hodějice in 2018. The relevant issue of pollution, wastewaters, their sewering and treatment is handled in literary review. The thesis also includes characteristics of the area of interest and selected wastewater treatment plant. The results were graphically processed and compared with the emission standards set out in government regulation no.401/2015 coll. and the water authority of Slavkov u Brna, listed in the Sewerage code of WWTP Hodějice. It was found that for the monitored indicators the efficiency of treatment is sufficient.

Halšková, Denisa
The subject of the diploma thesis is the evaluation of the cleaning efficiency at the chosen sewage treatment plants and their subsequent comparison. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the legislation of the Czech Republic and the European Union in the field of WWTP and waste water treatment, it also deals with the types of waste water, its composition and the process of its cleaning, especially it is focused on the activation process. The practical part contains a description of the objects on the technological line of Mikulčice WWTP and WWTP Starý Poddvorov. Another part of the thesis evaluates the hydraulic load, the substance load and the cleaning efficiency at individual treatment plants during the monitored years 2015-2017. The individual results are graphically processed. The operational results are described in the evaluation of the results and the procuration are proposed for improving the efficiency of the cleaning, namely the addition of the technology of WWTP Starý Poddvorov for the chemical precipitation of phosphorus.

Houška, Vojtěch ; Vymazal, Jan (advisor) ; Dvořáková Březinová, Tereza (referee)
Constructed wetlands represent a suitable alternative for wastewater treatment nowadays. They are irreplaceable in Czech Republic as well as worldwide. Initially, they were not accepted unanimously by the water authorities due to the simple technological design. In this Bachelor thesis, the main types constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment, their general principle of cleaning and suitable wetland vegetation are described. Also, the main components of pollution in the waste water are evaluated in the thesis. The thesis provides an evaluation of treatment performance of five constructed wetlands, namely Spálené Poříčí, Olší nad Oslavou, Rudíkov, Osová Bitýška and Křoví. This thesis is focused on the evaluation of the long-term treatment efficiency in terms of BOD5, COD, suspended solids, ammonia nitrogen and phosphorus. The most results show a very good level of wastewater treatment of surveyed constructed wetlands.
