The potential use of artificial nests for the management of Peregrine Falcon in industrial areas
Marek, David ; Zasadil, Petr (advisor) ; Kouba, Marek (referee)
In my Bachelor Thesis I have focused on presentation of a project concerning location of artificial birdhouses at two particularly selected chimneys situated within an industrial park called Chempark Záluží in Litvínov. Those two birdhouses were installed in the industrial park, as peregrines (falcons) settling in these nests was anticipated. The project launched in 2011 and successfully continues up to now. This project is one of most successful projects focused on creating new nesting opportunities for falcons, fixed on one specific industrial park. Fifteen falcon pups were successfully brought up to 2015. Presentation of the project aims to spread such an activity on other suitable places and integration of wide public into other activities, directed on protection of falcons on our territory, which are as well presented in this thesis, including assessment of their importance.
Numbers of selected bird species in various types of village built-up area.
Kebrle, Dominik ; Zasadil, Petr (advisor) ; Šálek, Miroslav (referee)
In Czech rupublic and similar in most of Europe, some of agricultural landscape birds abundance is declining. The biggest decline was record by House Sparrow (Passer domesticus), probably causes by changes in building technique or by lack of food opportunities. The decline in the case of Greenfinch (Carduelis chloris) and Linnet (Caduelis cannabina) is attributed to the intensification in farming. In the case of Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) is persecution by human possible cause of decline. Estimate abundance overal of eleven bird species was conducted during nestling perion in 2015 in 20 villages situated in the southwest of Central Bohemia. It was select 10 villages with working farming, in these villages was define three census site of 1 ha in different types of bulit-up area (in the centre, in the edge and in factory farm area). In 10 remaining villages was define only two census sites (in the centre and in the edge) because absence of factory farm area. House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) and Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto) significantly favoring village centre in villages without factory farm. Tree Sparrow (Passer montanus) significantly prefers the edges in villages with factory farming. Black Redstart (Phoenicurus ochruros) significantly favoring village centre no matter on presence of factory farming. Effect of farming on increase of birds abundance wasn´t prove. Only Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto) significantly avoid factory farm area. In the case of other factors (bulit-up area, area of trees and shrubs, herb layer surface, proportion of new buildings, distance from factory farm area) was prove influece of trees and shrubs area on House Sparrow (Passer domesticus), which decline abundance with increase the area. It was also prove influence of bulit-up area on Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) which decline abundance with increase the area.
The impact of noise and light pollution on voice activity of Blackbird (Turdus merula)
Vlach, Martin ; Zasadil, Petr (advisor) ; Musilová, Zuzana (referee)
Abstract Cities represent a new environment where organisms are exposed to different environmental conditions than the original natural habitats. This is essentially a noise and light pollution. The growing number of studies show that these factors can have a significant impact on voice activity of birds.Light pollution may alter the timing of vocalization.Urban noise can overlay the acoustic signals of birds, change the melody, volume, and the timing of singing. The main objective of this thesis was to investigate the influence of noise and light pollution to voice activity Blackbird (Turdus merula). In 2015 it was recorded vocalizations to 4 types of sites: a) on the site only with noise pollution (unlit busy road), b) on the site only with light pollution (Parks), c) on location with noise and light pollution (busy roads in cities), d) on the site without the noise and light pollution (forests). Recording was done with the help of voice recorders from early March until the end of May when the weather was good (no strong winds and storms) every week to thoroughly map the seasonal voice activity of the birds. Quiet location and localities with noise pollution have been in the woods near the town of Beroun near the D5 highway. Locations with light and noisy pollution is found in Hradec Kralove and Prague. In each locality they were searched individuals Blackbird and placed recorder into their territory. The recordings were taken 180 minutes before sunset, throughout the night and morning was the end of the recording 180 minutes after sunrise. The results showed the influence of the sites primarily on the morning vocalization when in the localities affected by light and noise vocalized significantly earlier than the quiet and noisy areas. In the evening times was vocalization without significant differences. The greatest intensity of vocalizations Blackbird was light-noisy areas, opposite to others. The evening was the greatest intensity of the sound recorded in quiet locations. Finally, the night vocalization has been demonstrated only in localities light-noisy.
Technical sights - history and technical design of hydro-electric power plants
ZASADIL, Pavel
This Bachelor work deals with the exploitation of water power as a source of energy. The first part concentrates on the history of water exploitation as a source of energy. The second part deals with water mills and their reconstruction to hydraulic water plants. The third part deals with the construction of water-wheels and hydraulic water plants. The following parts deal with the hydro-electric plants and hydraulic water plants with the calculations of efficiency of their machinery.
