Říha, Tomáš ; Vrba, Jan (referee) ; Veselý, Jaroslav (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on water management analysis of the Rokytná River and finding suitable precautions usable by municipalities when dealing with drought and lack of water in their administrative district. The short research at the beginning of the thesis summarizes problematic of drought and lack of water in the Czech Republic, including the current state and overall context. Next part focuses on the assessment of current state of the Rokytná River basin, based on performed reconnaissance of the basin and processed analysis of a part of the basin delimited from km 0,0 to km 16,7 of the river, between towns of Ivančice and Moravský Krumlov. This analysis concentrates on finding factors, which can contribute to extent of drought impact in this area. It also contains a suspended load study of the waterway, which writes up granularity characteristics and calculation of the amount of transported material from a suspended load sample, taken from the bed of the Rokytná River. The overview of suitable proceedings and precautions follows, based on findings in previous parts of the diploma thesis. The conclusion of this thesis consists of very suggestion of suitable steps and precautions related to particular localities in the Rokytná River basin. Target is to enhance the retention ability of the region and to minimize the impact of both drought and floods. The result of these actions should be the empowerment of environmental sustainability in this particular area. Conclusions of this thesis can be used by municipalities and other administrative bodies when creating an approach of combating drought and when deciding about the implementation of relevant precautions.
The international law position of child soldiers
Vrba, Jan ; Hýbnerová, Stanislava (advisor) ; Balaš, Vladimír (referee)
This work is devoted to international law, particularly humanitarian law and human rights with emphasis on international legal instruments governing the position of children serving in the armed forces. In this work are discussed various international conventions, as well as mechanisms for the protection of child soldiers. The first chapter defines the position of child soldiers and the specifics of their involvement in military conflicts. The decisive criteria for the involvement of children in government armed forces or non-state army is age. Furthermore there is described into more details the mechanism of conscription into the army. There is difference between voluntary and forced recruitment of child soldiers. The various international legal instruments are analyzed more in detail in chapter two. The issue of Child soldiers is addressed with both the rules of humanitarian law, specifically the Additional Protocols to the Geneva Conventions and Human rights conventions. Special attention is paid to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Optional Protocol on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict. Analyzed is the only regional convention addressing the problem of child soldiers -the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. The issue of child recruitment is also...

Law regulation of banknotes and coins circulation in the Czech Republic
Vrba, Jan ; Kotáb, Petr (advisor) ; Kohajda, Michael (referee)
This thesis focuses on the law regulation of the paper currency, coins and money circulation in the Czech Republic. It is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is intended to introduce the issue of the currency to a reader by explaining the concept of money, currency, legal tenders and related matters. It describes also the process of money creation and historical evolution of money in the world and within the Czech Republic as well. The second chapter examines the current law regulation regarding to the currency and the money circulation in the Czech Republic. It provides brief explanation of source of law concept and specifies the fundamental legal regulations relating to the currency and money circulation. The third chapter is concentrated on the role of the Czech national bank as the central bank of the Czech Republic. The fundamental activities performed by the Czech national bank upon the laws, such as the issuance of the fiat money and the management of the circulation of currency, are discussed in this chapter. The fourth chapter is dedicated to the Czech coinage. The chapter describes structure of currency in circulation in the Czech Republic, reveals what is the legal tender in the Czech Republic and identifies certain loophole (error in law) in the regulation regarding the...
Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy and Visualization of Biological Objects
Nedvědová, Marie ; Kužel,, Petr (referee) ; Vrba, Jan (referee) ; Provazník, Ivo (advisor)
This thesis deals with the methods of Terahertz (THz) spectroscopy to observe the kinetics of haemostatic materials used for supporting the native mechanism of haemostasis. The theoretical part follows the physical principles of THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz TDS), mentions the advantages and limitations of this method and its application possibilities for the characterization of biomedical materials. Further, there are specified properties of actual haemostats, described principles of their function and usage in practice, including their interaction with the living tissue. There were performed experiments monitoring the kinetics of physiologic reaction of the tissue adhesive based on the cyanoacrylates and absorbable haemostats. The mechanisms of monitored reactions were explained based on the physical-chemical principles that are used also for the kinetic models’ derivation. Modelling of the measured data results in the estimation of the parameters characterizing the observed samples. The most interesting parameter is the time constant of the reaction because of the possibility to compare reaction rates of different types of haemostats. The detailed analysis of this parameter is performed using the means of statistical methods. Tissue adhesive samples were measured by other spectroscopic and microscopic methods to compare the findings with the experimental results of the THz TDS. Data were processed using algorithms designed especially for this experiment and analysed using mathematical methods.
