Work with pupil's portfolio at primary school

This Master's thesis is divided into the theoretical and research part. The theoretical part is focused on the concept of primary education, in particular on the area of key competences. The thesis submits methods through which pupil's key competences can be developed. The major focus is placed on the pedagogical device which develops key competences and that is a pupil's portfolio. The thesis describes different types of the portfolio as well as its importance especially in the process of self-assessment of the pupil. The main aim of the research part is to investigate the benefits of using the pupil's portfolio and to describe its forms in different grades at primary school. This part is primarily focused on the concept of working with portfolio at two different primary schools. There are also interviews with teachers and pupils which suggest arguments why working with the portfolio is beneficial and what possible difficulties can occur. Responses which were received from the interviews with teachers show that the main benefits of working with the pupil's portfolio include the possibility of gathering pupil's works at one place, developing some system, storing of works, providing and documenting of pupil's results. All this is can be used especially during consultations with parents and the pupil.

Procedures of RWCT programme in the teaching of Czech language and literature at primary school

The Master thesis "Procedures of RWCT programme in the teaching of Czech language and literature at primary school" discusses the use of critical thinking techniques in the Czech language classes for fifth graders. My goal is to explore what options are used as the RWCT programme methods in the Czech language classes at primary school. One of the key objectives is to build a comprehensive material for teaching the Czech language in the fifth grade of primary school. This is based on critical thinking techniques thanks to which pupils not only study the new curriculum but also develop their reading literacy. The anthology demonstrates the applicability of critical thinking techniques in classes with specific examples. On the basis of reflections, I assess the options whitch the RWCT programme gives to the teaching of the Czech language in the fifth grade of primary school. Development of professional competencies of primary school teachers

The diploma thesis on topic Development of professional competencies of Primary School teachers considers the research question: "What is the significance of teacher training and its length in the development of the professional competencies of primary school teachers?". The aim of the thesis is to introduce and analyze effective ways of developing the professional competencies of primary school teachers in the combined form of study. Contextualize the importance of practice and its length in the development of professional competencies. To deal with specific cases, ie cases of significance of practice and its length in the development of professional competencies of primary school teachers. With the support of professional literature, the basic theorems related to the topic of work are defined in the theoretical part: teacher, competencies, key competences, pedagogical knowledge and skills, constructivist approach in education and methods of professional development of teachers. Design and Realisation of the Competency Approach for Children of Younger School Age in the Junák - Czech Scouting Organisation

The aim of this thesis is to create and implement a competency-based approach in the organization Junák - Czech Scouting for children of younger school age. Further, it analyses the possibilities and limits of such an approach. The theoretical part deals with the development of key competencies through scout education. Special attention is paid to the transformation of the educational programme in the children's organization Junák - Czech Scout at the beginning of the 21st century. Furthermore, the terms of competence and key competence are discussed. The practical part was carried out as action research in the 3rd Scout Unit Holubov. Using a questionnaire survey, the research first focuses on the reflection of Scout Paths, which represent the current scout tool for applying the competency-based approach. The next part of the research concentrates on creating a new competency-based model that verifies and reflects in practice. In the final part, the possibilities and limits of this new model are analyzed and suggestions for further implementations are proposed. Incorporating the theme of virtues into teaching pupils in primary school

This master's thesis deals with virtues of first grade primary school pupils. The theoretical part is focused on explanation of the term "virtues" and on description of individual areas in which the virtues can appear within education in first grade of primary school. The attention is paid to how the topic "virtues" is related to the goals and contents formulated in "RVP ZP" (General education programme for primary school education). In this part I also focus on introduction of context of ethics, where I concentrate on theories of Jean Piaget and Lawrence Kohlberg, and ethics education. Furthermore, there are programmes, projects and aids mentioned in this thesis, which deal with development of virtues, with education to values and with ethics education. The practical part of this thesis consists of active research. In the research are stated four lessons which deal with the way, this topic can be realised as a content of education and the way the pupils understand this topic. I also deal with virtues of respect and empathy in detail. These education units which develop the topics of virtues are suggested, verified and reflected. Problems of beginning teachers of primary education

The main aim of the theoretical part is to introduce difficulties of the teaching profession, such as the problems that are encountered today, when they are available for work and the challenges that they are not prepared for. With the aid of literature, I define the term 'beginning teacher' and I introduce the most common types of problems that arise. Furthermore, I focus on the possible support system for beginning teachers. The empiric part presents the assessment of the results from completed questionnaires and the dialogues with the beginning teachers of primary education. In my prepared and structured questionnaire and dialogue, I focus on the problems, which they might have struggled with or are still struggling with, such as if they feel that university was not able to prepare them adequately for their future job. In addition to this, I aim one's attention to the support system, which was provided to them, if they had an opportunity of a mentor. I am interested in parent's reaction when they found out that the new class teacher of their children is a fresh university graduate. Lastly, if they had a big problem to gain children's authority. Experience and reflective teaching methods and its benefit for the teacher and pupils

The aim of the work is to improve the quality of teaching. The work points to the possibility of using action teacher research in an effort to implement innovations in the field of teaching methods for younger school age students and at the same time the development of their own professional competencies. It justifies the contribution of activating experiential and reflective methods for pupils in integrating the goals of the curriculum in the field of social science topics and the goals of personal and social education. The theoretical part maps the professional background of closely related topics such as teacher professional competencies, development of primary school teachers, innovative teaching methods, personality concepts, activation methods, experiential learning, experiential pedagogy, action teacher research, reflection and self-reflection. It also maps the background for experiential and reflective methods with support on the Framework Educational Program for Basic Education. Social class climate in the first grade of the primary school

Social class climate in the first grade of the primary school is the topic of my diploma thesis. My work is oriented on the creating and affecting the class climate by a beginner teacher. The theoretical part of my thesis is describing the key concept of class societal climate. Later on, I am describing methods that teachers can use to affect the class societal climate. I have chosen methods of personal and societal education and describing them in detail within the theoretical part. Those methods are described in connection with Framework Education Program of Elementary Education and didactic point of view. In addition, there is a part describing pupils' maturity and their readiness before and after entering school. To be fully oriented in this area, I recognized as a very important thing to also include methods used for collecting information about the status of the class climate. The empirical part of my work incorporates teachers research based on McNiff cyclus. Value - based education using Method Persona Dolls

This thesis deals with Method Persona Dolls, which evolves children's approach and values, it is pre-eminently focused on empathy development, creativity, self-confidence, positive evaluation of others and forms of pro-social behaviour. The theoretical part is focused on the description of curriculum reforms and characteristic of curriculum documents in general, particularly on Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education. The theoretical part further deals with this method from the point of view of theoretical principles, methods of its use and contribution, but from the point of drawback as well, which can occur when using this method. The method is also analysed from the point of view of curriculum documents as a possible tool for key competencies development. In addition, it is concerned about emotional intelligence and grade-schoolers emotional development, values and emotion description. Furthermore, the concept of value-based education of Cyril Mooney will be concerned as next item.
