Perceptions of Islam in Czech Society
Javornická, Ester Eliška ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Vojtíšek, Zdeněk (referee)
In the thesis named Perceptions of Islam in Czech Society I consider the way how czech society (or it's section) thinks about Islam and why is it that way. I consider the impressions and images that people recall when they hear the term Islam and I seek the information or sources of information that czech public has regarding Islam. I dedicated more space to the story Not without my daughter which, as I found out, was a great factor in how people form their opinions about Islam. I made a survey in a chosen group of respondents which was narrowed down to educated czech christians from Prague, so that I wouldn't work just with theoretical constructs. I was interested in their knowledge and their perception of Islam. Topics that emerged from the interviews as often connected with Islam are: (veiled) women and their status, connection with terrorism and exapansionism of Islam (which represents a threat to calm Europe). I engaged in these topics more in the theoretical part of the thesis. I compared the results of my qualitative survey with the result of quantitative research in which, on autumn 2010, the Interior Ministry charted the position of czech public towards extremism. Keywords Islam, women in Islam, terrorism, fundamentalism, islamofobia, ...

The diploma work reflects the different attitudes to evaluation of extraordinary religions experiences. The objective is to compare different ways of comprehension and evaluation of extraordinary religious experiences and thereby provide suggestions for further consideration of these experiences with a view to pathology and normality. In the theoretical part firstly the general term of the religious experience is determined further the definition of the extraordinary religious experiences follows. Using the example of three types of different religious experiences the psychological, psychiatric and religious attitudes are compared. Further two general attitudes to the extraordinary religious experiences are compared form the point of view of pathology and normality. The conclusion of the theoretical part offers suggestions for consideration of extraordinary religious experiences. The practical part, based on the qualitative research, surveys the experiences of five persons that went through an extraordinary religious experience which is considered by them as religious or spiritual. The research was carried out by means of the semistructured interview and loosely adjusted graphical projective technique called the "Axis of Life". By analyzing the performed interviews answers to questions how the...

Spiritual and social development of emigrants to the Bieszczady
Bialoňová, Natálie ; Marešová, Ladislava (referee) ; Vojtíšek, Zdeněk (advisor)
As a theme of my diploma thesis I have chosen The spiritual and social development of emmigrants to Bieszczady. I am engaged in a group of four hundred people approximately, who, at the turn of 60s and 70s of the 20th century, left the Czechoslovakia and settled in a Polish town Bieszczady. They established three villages there. All the emmigrants belonged to the branch of Jednota Bratrská, earlier Svaz rozhodných křesťanů. I am trying to describe reasons of the departure, reasons of their decision, but also hard conditions that they had in Bieszczady. In the last chapter I am also mentionning the contemporary situation in villages. Testimonies which I got during my personal visit to Bieszczady make the indispensable part of my thesis. The aim of my diploma thesis is to show, that even in the 20th century there were groups of people able to leave an existing way of living for the faith and for the vision of the better future. In an appendix I am adding the photographs from the beginnings of the settlement, but also from the present. I am also adding the statistics of one of the villages, which completes the reality expressed in my thesis.
