Edukometrie - Item response theory
Voňková, Hana
Title: Measurement of Education - Item Response Theory Author: Hana Křížovská Department: Department of Probability and Mathematical Statistics Supervisor: Prof. Ing. František Fabian, CSc. Supervisors' e-mail address: he has not Abstract If we want to study abilities of certain pupils or other people in a given area, we can give them a didactial test, which would consist of items testing the abilities in question. The goal is then to determine the qualities of the people (ability parameter) and the relative difficulty of the questions (parameters of the questions) on the basis of the answers. Further we estimate how would a pupil, who have passed just one part of the test (assuming we have the item parameters of the whole test), would perform in the rest of the test. This is the research area of the Item Reponse Theory (IRT). In the introductory section the reasons are given for why we should use the IRT rather than the classical test theory for evaluating didactical test results, althought it's not regulary done in our country. The dichotomous Rasch model, which is one of the main IRT models, is described in detail. First the model is derived and then its main features presented. For the case of Rasch models we also demonstrate the most used methods of estimation of the ability and difficulty parameters....

Sobková, Ladislava ; Voňková, Hana (advisor) ; Zvírotský, Michal (referee)
Title: Comparison between educational methods and organizational teaching styles of a second language within the scope of the compulsory education and the education in a leisure time Abstract: This diploma thesis deals with the topic of educational methods and organizational teaching styles and their contribution to the effectiveness of second language teaching and learning. It also concerns with other circumstances that influence students in their learning. The theoretical basis for this purpose is provided by the theoretical part that introduces theoretical views on student's motivation, the role represented by teaching organization, applied methods, assessment of students and the personality of a teacher as described in professional literature. The practical part presents conclusions that were reached by questionnaires, discussions and interviews realized with students and teachers. It offers their opinions of factors influencing the effectiveness of teaching that they compared within the scope of the high school education and the education realized by language schools in the form of post- graduate classes. Teaching quality, respect for students and their educational needs and the emphasis on connection of teaching and practice proved crucial. Key terms: educational methods, organizational teaching...
Movement Activities as a Part of the Life of a Pre-schooler
Hrušová, Marcela ; Voňková, Hana (advisor) ; Polášková, Jitka (referee)
My diploma work deals with the moving activities, which are the component of the life of the children till 6 years of age. The aim of the work is to find how much time use the pre-school child for spontaneous and controlled movement in the family and in the kindergarten. I was interesting, if there is any difference between the moving activities in the villages, in the suburb of the Prague and in the centre of the Prague. According to my investigation the differences were minimal. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Influence of Selected Factors on Students' Mathematical Literacy in Central European Countries : Secondary Analysis of PISA 2003 Data
Voňková, Hana ; Byčkovský, Petr (advisor) ; Půlpán, Zdeněk (referee) ; Boschek, Petr (referee)
In this work we investigate the impact of selected personal, family and school characteristics on the level of mathematical ability of fifteen year old pupils from 6 countries of the Central Europe (Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Austria and Slovakia) and from countries with excellent results in mathematics (Finland, Hong Kong and the Netherlands). Then we compare the impact of the factors in the individual countries. Much can be concluded from this analysis. The type of school attended by the pupil has a great impact. The maximal difference between type of schools can come up to 40 percentage points in some countries (CR, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). We do not discuss this factor in Finland and Poland, where all fifteen year olds attend one type of school. The results in these countries are therefore determined differently. As for other basic characteristics of the school, the size matters in some countries (Hong Kong and the Netherlands) and has always a positive effect. The urbanization level of the place of the school (the size of the village or city) is also positively correlated with the mathematics result. Here the Netherlands and Germany form an exception. The status of the school (public vs. private), lack of well-educated teachers, equipment of the school and enthousiasm of the...
Identification of factors influencing pupil's mathematical abilities in the Czech Republic (Sekundární analýza dat PISA 2003)
Voňková, Hana ; Bendl, Stanislav (referee)
Teoretická část pojednává o IEA a OECD, dvou hlavních organizacích realizujících mezinárodní srovnávací výzkumy v oblasti vzdělávání. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Relationship Between Perfectionism, Achievement Motivation, Subjective Life Satisfaction and Self-Esteem of Gifted and Non-Gifted Secondary School Students
Jirásková, Lucie ; Voňková, Hana (advisor) ; Zvírotský, Michal (referee)
(in English): The thesis called "The Relationship between perfectionism, achievement motivation, subjective life satisfaction and self-esteem among gifted and non-gifted high school students' aims to explore the differences between gifted high school students in natural sciences and their perrs in school achievement motivation, level of self-esteem, subjective life satisfaction and perfectionism. The thesis is divided into three parts: theoretical, methodological and empirical. The theoretical part deals with variables examined in the context of the giftedness and also outlines the results of previous studies in this field. The thesis focuses on intellectually gifted high school students in a field of natural sciences, especially in biology and chemistry. Research in tis thesis is quantitative. To detect self-esteem was used Rosenberg self-esteem scale, for detecting a level of global life satisfaction we used life satisfaction scale recommended by the OECD and the manual by The New Economics Foundation, school achievement motivation was measured by evaluation tool according to Hrabal and Pavelková (2011). For measuring of perfectionism, we used a modified questionnaire to measure perfectionism in sport according to Stoeber and Rambow (2007). The empirical part is devoted to statistical data...
Measuring of school discipline from the perpective of primary school's pupils and teachers by using anchoring vignettes method
Vaňkátová, Eva ; Voňková, Hana (advisor) ; Bendl, Stanislav (referee)
This thesis is focused on research of school undiscipline (misbehaviour) by using the anchoring vignettes method. The results obtained of qualitative research (focus groups and in-depth interviews) were used for the compilation of the vignettes and questionnaire. In its theoretical part, the thesis introduces with multi-dimensional concept of school discipline and with works of the other authors. Further the thesis presents an overview of research methods for measuring of school discipline. The practicle parts presents the results of the author's own survey. These results have led for construction of the questionnaire with anchoring vignettes. These ones were compiled by using results of focus groups with 13 - 15 years old pupils and in-depth interviews with their teachers. The final questionnaire will be standardized within author's doctoral studies a thesis. Even so, it appeals that the anchoring vignette method takes its place in educationas scienses. KEYWORDS school discipline/undiscipline, anchoring vignettes method, fosuc group, in-depth interview, self-assessment
