Monitoring of changes of drinking water quality during accumulation and distribution
Vaňková, Jitka ; Dolejš, Petr (referee) ; Mega, Jaroslav (advisor)
Theoretical part of the diploma thesis purveys information on drinking water and quality requirements, changes of drinking water quality during distribution and accumulation caused by disinfection, chemical processes, corrosion of constructional materials, incrusting solids, biofilms, nitrification of ammonia nitrogen, sediments in pipelines, elution of harmful matter. Attention was given to drinking water quality indicators which are associated with changes in drinking water distribution systems. In experimental part are studied changes of drinking water quality during distribution on the basis of selected drinking water quality indicators. There is specifically chemical oxygen demand, concentration of iron, manganese, ammonia ions, nitrites, nitrates, chloroform and chlorine. For periodical monitoring were selected suitable locality within the framework of Brno distribution system; for illustration were taken water samples from distribution systems of drinking water treatment plants Švařec, Vír, Štítary and Mostiště. For selected methods of analytical determination of above mentioned drinking water quality indicators are presented their characteristics. Obtained information on drinking water quality is mentioned in tabular and graphical form.

Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacognosy Candidate: Mgr. Jitka Vaňková Supervisor: PharmDr. Marie Kašparová, Ph.D. Title of Rigorous Thesis: Abiotic elicitation of suspension culture of Trifolium pratense L. We investigated the effect of a 24-hour application of aluminum chloride elicitor alone (1 mol, 10 mol, 100 mol) and in combination with calcium chloride (0,1 mmol, 1 mmol, 10 mmol) and verapamil (1 mol, 10 mol, 100 mol) on the production of flavonoids and isoflavonoids in 4-year-old and newly derived suspension cultures of Trifolium pratense L. Cultures were cultivated on a medium according to Gamborg added 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2 mg.l-1 ) with 6-benzylaminopurine (2 mg.l-1 ) at 25 ř C and a light period of 16 hours light / 8 hours dark. The maximal production of flavonoids (0.262% and 0.220%) resulted in two observed groups of cultures add the weakest concentration of aluminum chloride (1 µmol) and calcium ions (0.01 mmol). Subsequent addition of elicitation effect of verapamil as a calcium channel blocker has been demonstrated by reducing the production of metabolites observed in both cultures only after the strongest concentration of 100 µmol. The newly derived suspension cultures of Trifolium pratense L. was also...

Title: History of apothecaries in Carlsbad Author: Jitka Vaňková Department: Social and Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor: Mgr. Ladislava Valášková, PhD. Abstract in English In my dissertation (diploma work) I occupied myself with the history of pharmacy in Carlsbad. The main aim of this work was to find out when each chemist's arose in the town, who and when its owner, commissioner, tenant or professional deputy was, also how many chemists' there were in the monitored time. Concurrently, I tried to discover any accessible facts with the topic of pharmacy in Carlsbad. In the first part of my dissertation I occupied myself with the history, architecture and spa theme in the town, but also with the coexistence of Czechs and Germans in the frontier. In the next part, I described briefly the development of pharmacy from its very beginning until the present, its particular developmental periods and, in the end of the chapter, I focused mainly on pharmacy development in our country. In the fourth chapter I dealt with the chemists' development in Carlsbad.

Spectral properties of the source signal as speaker-specific cues
Vaňková, Jitka ; Skarnitzl, Radek (advisor) ; Volín, Jan (referee)
Despite a continuous development in computer sciences and related disciplines, speaker identification remains one of the most challenging tasks in forensic phonetics. The reason for this is the fact that our knowledge of how identity is reflected in the acoustic signal is still limited. The present study aims to contribute to the search of speaker-specific cues by examining spectral properties of the source signal. Specifically, it examines to what extent three short-term measures of spectral tilt, namely H1-H2, H1-A1 and H1-A3, can discriminate 16 Czech female speakers. It also addresses the influence of vowel quality, syllable status with respect to stress and position of stress group in the utterance on the values of these measures. The results show that these parameters do have some discriminative power, though the contribution of individual parameters differs. The study indicates that discrimination of speakers is the most successful in stressed syllables and argues that individual vowels could differ in their usefulness for speaker identification. The results of LDA based on these short- term measures of spectral tilt were complemented with long-term measures, namely alpha index, Kitzing index and Hammarberg index which quantify the slope of the LTAS. The present study suggests that...
