Gendered familialism: The Czech family policy between 1995-2012 in comparison with Swedish model

The main aim of this thesis is to analyse the Czech family policy, compare it with the Swedish family policy and ascertain whether the Czech legislation advanced to the so-called Scandinavian welfare state model in years 1995-2012. The main research questions focus on the development of the Czech legislation on parental leave and parental allowances in years during the monitored period in terms of gender-sensitive welfare state typologies and comparison of the Czech and Swedish legislation.
How Czechs perceive homosexual partnership.

This bachelor thesis focuses on men's attitudes towards homosexuality as a correlating element in constructing a social approach to homosexuality. I focused my research on men with Czech citizenship aged 35 to 50 years. The research was applied qualitative data analysis using grounded theory modeled by A. L. Strauss and J. Corbin. In order to increase the theoretical sensitivity, which is essential for understanding the topic, I used the specialized literature focusing on gender and methodology. It was presented in the first, theoretical part. In the second part there were mentioned methodological concepts, on which the third research part is based, where the data obtained from semi-structured interview were analyzed. Research has shown that the attitudes of respondents are inconsistent; however, a significant influence on their semblance has the participation of men in masculine groups.
The Masculine World of Poker: A Qualitative Study of Women at Poker Tables

The thesis is focused on masculinity and gender stereotypes in poker environment. The author studies how female poker players have entered the poker environment and what enabled them to do so. What problems did players encounter in the beginnings of their poker careers and how they dealt with these obstacles? Part of the work is also an analysis of gender- based stereotypes in poker environment encountered by female players. The author explains whether and how women adjust their competitive game strategy depending on whether they play against women or men. In the end the, the Author studies what is it like to be a female poker player rout of the casino space. How does their closest ones perceive this "strange" profession? How challenging is poker and are there any limitations for women playing poker? In the theoretical part, the author presents the theoretical basis of research, i.e., gender studies, gender stereotypes, feminity and masculinity, sociology of sport and provides a brief overview of the current sociological research of poker. Construction of gender identity on social networks: a comparison of two generations of Czech women

This work deals with a comparison of two generations of Czech women from the perspective of the construction of gender identity on social networks. Tries to clarify how two generations of Czech women, with age 20-28 and 42-50, present themselves on social networks, what interests and influences them and how they create gender identity. In the theoretical part there are explained gender identity and social network and how they affect the construction of identity. This part therefore serves as a basis for research, and its direction to clarify the issue. The methodological aspect of research is implemented in the practical part of qualitative research using grounded theory and analysis of photos. For qualitative research were used semi-structured in-depth interviews with users of social networks from both generations and photos from the Instagram of user profiles. The conclusion of this work therefore brings the result of the analysis of interviews and the result of the analysis of photos and their comparation. The attitude of Prague high school students towards marijuana

This bachelor thesis examines attitudes of high school students in Prague to marijuana use and also the prevalence of use itself. Despite the highest prevalence of marijuana use in the Czech high schools, compared to other adolescents in Europe, it is not elaborated what differences are within the user group and what are the factors, that influence attitudes to use in Prague. The issue is viewed from the perspective of the theory of social control. The concept of risk behavior is also used. The empirical part is a secondary analysis of ESPAD data and consists of statistical tests of quantitative data.

Perception of Mandatory Admission of 2-year-old Children to Nurseries

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe how mothers and principals of nurseries perceive the mandatory admission of 2-year-old children into nurseries and, to analyse the differences between perceptions of mothers and school principals. This thesis reacts to the Education Act Amendment from 2016, which obliged nurseries to guarantee spots for 2-year-old children from 2020. The amendment supposed to help parents of young children to harmonize work and family life. The thesis includes an appraisal of potential utilization of the mentioned right for 2-year-old children. The results are based on information obtained from semi-structured in-depth interviews with six communication partners.
The dissent in Czechoslovakia in the gender perspective

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issues of gender regime of dissident milieu and related gender order of the whole socialist society. It highlights gender relations while focusing on the presence of solidarity or homosocial reproduction between male and female dissidents. The intention of this thesis is to explore the way how post-communist careers of female former dissidents are connected to their understanding of the dissident involvement of theirs. To this end, it utilizes a combination of secondary analysis of two different kinds of interviews with seven female former dissidents and study of literature dealing with said subject. The analysis is based on five analytical categories inspired by Hana Havelková's proposition about a hybrid traditionalist-communist model of a career woman. The categories are based on a general concept of gender, and focus on more concrete concepts dealing with socialist society specifically. The conclusion of the study is in a proposed hypothesis form. These hypotheses are recommended to be tested by using different methodology.
