Version Control System
Foltýn, Michal ; Tůma, Petr (referee) ; Holan, Tomáš (advisor)
Version control system VCS keeps track of all work and all changes in a set of text files, typically the implementation of a software project, and allows several, widely separated, developers to collaborate. System makes work easier to developers when working on several files and allows them to keep track of all changes that have occurred. System uses client/server architecture and allows users to connect remotely or have client and server on the same machine. Several users can work with system simultaneously. The system runs on Microsoft Windows platform.
Integrated Network Traffic Processing Framework
Hrubý, Tomáš ; Bulej, Lubomír (referee) ; Tůma, Petr (advisor)
Knowledge of what data are carried by network links is crucial to be able to prevent attacks and to improve quality of services. Therefore it is important to develop network monitoring tools which can operate on speeds of new gigabit networks. This thesis discusses general principles of designing a highly flexible framework which is divided into several levels. These spread across various hardware and software environments. This allows us to keep up with a gigabit speed. We show details on an extension of the FFPF framework to run on top of an IXP based PCI board. In addition, we present an implementation of Ruler, a language for packet pattern matching and data anonymization, implemented for highspeed traffic monitoring using IXP network processor. This work also presents performance evaluation, discussion of bottle-necks, general problems and compares with other related projects.
Network Repository for Performance Evaluation Results
Ondroušek, Pavel ; Kalibera, Tomáš (referee) ; Tůma, Petr (advisor)
For performance evaluation of software systems, benchmarking is used. Benchmarking generates a large amount of output data, which is necessary to store, process and evaluate it. Network Repository serves as a repository of benchmark results. The goal of the master thesis is to design and implement the data storage with a support of various result types with the possibility of the format configuration. Stored results can be processed, evaluated, or used as a source for plotting. As part of the master thesis, the design and implementation of a general framework for benchmark storage and evaluation is developed and a sample configuration for the selected benchmark result data format is established.
Audio CD Ripper
Žofka, Michal ; Klimeš, Václav (advisor) ; Tůma, Petr (referee)
Audio CD Ripper is a simple application working under WinXP. It allows the user to digitally extract Audio CDs using the ASPI interface and save the tracks or CD image as WAVE files to the hard disk. It is able to call an external encoder (LAME, APE or FLAC) with user specified command line options to compress the files after extraction. Remote and local freedb connectivity is available. An 1D3 editor is available as well as functions for automatic tagging and renaming files from tag. It is able to create a CUE sheet of the inserted audio CD. The user can choose the file naming scheme to be used for saving files. The application can also be used as a simple CD player. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Performance in Software Development Cycle: Regression Benchmarking
Kalibera, Tomáš ; Tůma, Petr (advisor) ; Hauswirth, Matthias (referee) ; Eeckhout, Lieven (referee)
The development cycle of large software is necessarily prone to introducing software errors that are hard to find and fix. Automated regular testing (regression testing) is a popular method used to reduce the cost of finding and fixing functionality errors, but it neglects software performance. The thesis focuses on performance errors, enabling automated detection of performance changes during software development (regression benchmarking). The key investigated problem is non-determinism in computer systems, which causes performance fluctuations. The problem is addressed by a novel benchmarking methodology based on statistical methods. The methodology is evaluated on a large open-source project Mono, detecting daily performance changes since August 2004, and on open-source CORBA implementations omniORB and TAO. The benchmark automation is a complex task in itself. As suggested by experience with compilation of weather forecast model Arpege/Aladin and implementation of component model SOFA, large systems place distinguishing demands on tasks such as automated compilation or execution. Complemented by experience from Mono benchmarking, the thesis proposes an architecture of a generic environment for automated regression benchmarking. The environment is being implemented by master students under supervision of...
Mechanisms for operating system virtualization
Děcký, Martin ; Tůma, Petr (referee) ; Yaghob, Jakub (advisor)
Overview and taxonomy of the technologies used for virtualizing the execution of operating systems (running multiple operating systems or multiple separated operating system contexts simultaneously on a single computer), comparsion of the speed, security, determinism, level of isolation, accounting posibilities, supported platforms, level of hardware emulation, etc. Inherent problems of virtualization (platform dependency, SMP, virtual hardware). Emulation, simulation, virtual machines, paravirtualization, partitioning. Overview of commonly available virtualization products (Bochs, QEMU, Simics, VMware, Virtual PC, Virtual Server, OpenVZ, Denali, Mac on Linux, PearPC, Plex86, Xen, TRANGO, UML, Linux VServer, FreeBSD Jails, Solaris Zones) and their comparsion. Hardware assisted virtualization (Power Hypervisor, V86, Vanderpool, Paciffica) and their usage. Practical demonstration of soft-partitioning (parcelling of the operating system into separate kernel contexts) on SPARTAN kernel.
Clouds and Hills Generation Using Fractal Geometry
Tůma, Petr ; Zuzaňák, Jiří (referee) ; Venera, Jiří (advisor)
This work is concerned with generation of landscape objects using fractal geometry. In this work is explained what the fractal is and terms associated with them. The other parts describe basic theoretical ideas and implementation of these algorithms. The Capital theme is generation of models clouds and hills in values of input parameters, their presentation and date media saved there. The project includes my algorithm extension for hills generation of course. At the conclusion of this work are summarized tendencies of next development and my results.
Predictions of financial distress of a company through financial analysis methods
Streitbergová, Pavla ; Strnad, Lucien (advisor) ; Tůma, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis is aimed at comparison and evaluation of financial health of the company Novako Jihlava s.r.o., which has been undergoing insolvency proceeding since April 2009 and the company Stavona, spol. s.r.o., which seems to be prosperous. The aim of the work was to determine whether the methods of financial analysis(particularly solvency and bankruptcy models) could predict the fall of the company Novako Jihlava s.r.o. At the same time were compared the prediction of particular models.
Inflation targeting in the Czech Republic and selected countries
Tůma, Petr ; Czesaný, Slavoj (advisor) ; Ryvolová, Ivana (referee)
The Czech National Bank adopted an inflation targeting approach after the change rate turmoil in 1997. It went about a new strategy that was known only in a few developed countries. Monetary policy is being realized by directly targeting on its final object (price stability). I analyze the developments of consumer price index, inflation expectations, prognosis of inflation and other economic values, because I determine, if the inflation targeting is a correct alternative for monetary policy in case of Czech Republic, Slovakia and United Kingdom. I can tell that changeover on inflation targeting has being guaranteed a stable economic setting with a low measure of inflation, but results confirm that. This is important for our entrance into monetary union.
